Medical Journal of Chinese People's Liberation Army 2001;0(07):-
Sensitivity toward pictorial sexual information was tested implicitly in 448 servicemen from four different arm services and 86 civilians. 20 pairs of pictures containing sex information for sensitivity test were screened out in prior-experiment, and then they were exposed to the test subjects with a 500 ms duration, in order to find out the difference in the subjects' preference in selecting sexual and non-sexual information pictures. The result showed that, compared with the civilians, all the four groups of servicemen showed stronger inclination in selection of sexual information pictures, however there was no group difference or gender difference. The results also suggested that, implicit experiment with paired pictures could be one kind of reliable and effective method in studying sex information sensitivity.

Medical Journal of Chinese People's Liberation Army 2001;0(07):-
In order to study the mental health status of military personnel under settings of special military operations, 1 263 officers and crew of a submarine base, 361 officers and crew of a naval base and 753 officers and soldiers of a missile base were subjected to SCL-90 scale evaluation. The results were compared with mililary norms and civilian norms. It was revealed that SCL-90 of all the members of three groups had higher scores on every factor compared with the eivilion norms. Besides somatic factors, the scores of other factors were also higher than that of military norms. The results suggested that certain special military operation settings could exert negative impact on the mental health status of military personnel. An analysis of the results also showed that the greatest impact was found in submarine and naval officers and crew, as well as in missile troops, indicating that highly enclosed settings could strongly influence the mental health of individuals.

Aim To study cytokine(CK) changes of IL-6,IL-8,sIL-2R and TNF-a levels in sera from patients with juvenile rheumatoid arthritis(JRA) and rheumatoid arthritis(RA) and its correlation with the conventional inflammation indexes, erythrocyte sedimentation rate(ESR) and C-reactive protein(CRP). Methods Levels of IL-6,IL-8,sIL-2R and TNF-a in serum from 30 JRA patients and 34 RA patients,in the synovial fluid (SF)from 4 JRA patients,7 RA patients,6 osteoarthritis(OA) patients and 9 meniscitis(MT) patients were detected by sandwich ELISA. Results As compared with control group,① levels of IL-6 and SIL-2R in sera from 30 JRA patients and 34 RA patients and levels of IL-8 in sera from 30 JRA patients possessed marked difference P∨ 0.01 and P∨ 0.05,respectively.② There were significant difference among serum IL-8 and sIL-2R levels from systemic JRA patients, pauciaticular JRA patients, and serum IL-6 levels from polyarticular JRA patients(P<0.01). ③ There were remarkable difference among SF sIL-2R levels from 4 JRA patients and 7 RA patients and in SF IL-6 levels from 7 with RA patients.④ There were obvious correlativity between serum IL-6,sIL-2R levels and changes of serum ESR and CRP from the JRA patients(r=0.532 and r=0.621,respectively). Conclusion ① IL-6 and sIL-2R exhibit a close correlativity with the activity of JRA and RA,which is the main index of activity of JRA and RA diseases.② sIL-2R might not only participate in systemic pathologic process in JRA and RA diseases, but also serves as a major CK in local articular injuries.IL-6 participates in local articular injuries too,and seems to play a more important role in local articular injuries of RA.③ IL-8 may participate in systemic pathologic process of JRA,but play a minor part in local articular injuries.

Objective To explore the value of the histogram of ultrasound in diagnosing and grading of fatty liver. Methods Ninety subjects were enrolled in normal group, light or moderate to severe fatty liver group (each n=30), respectively. All the subjects underwent histogram of ultrasound of the liver, kidney, spleen and right hepatic vein (RHV), and the ratio of histogram M value of different area were analyzed. Results Statistical differences of the ratio of histogram M value of anterior hepatic tissue of kidney and kidney (AntK) between normal group and two fatty liver groups were detected (P<0.05). The ratio of histogram M value of anterior hepatic tissue of RHV and RHV (AntV) between the normal group and moderate to severe fatty liver group, as well as the light and moderate to severe fatty liver group had statistical differences (P<0.05). When 0.97, 0.78 were used respectively as the critical value of the ratio of histogram M value in diagnosing and grading of fatty liver at AntK and AntV, the sensitivity was all 80.00% and 80.00%, specificity was 85.00% and 70.00%, respectively. Conclusion The ratio of histogram M value of AntK, AntV can be used as the referent index in diagnosing and grading of fatty liver.

Objective To explore the diagnostic value of three-dimensional ultrasound parameters-vascularity index (VI) and the volume of kidney in chronic kidney disease (CKD). Methods A total of 80 CKD patients at different stages and 30 healthy adults were enrolled in the study. VI and the renal volume were calculated with three-dimensional ultrasound, while resistance index (RI), cortical thickness (CT) and the volume of kidney were calculated with two-dimensional ultrasound, and the correlation of those parameters were analyzed statistically. Results VI of CKD2 patients reduced significantly compared with the control group, and RI of CKD3 patients increased significantly, CT of CKD3 patients reduced significantly. The diagnostic sensitivity, specificity and diagnostic value of VI in patients with early and late CKD were all higher than thpse of RI. Compared with the control group, three-dimensional ultrasound of renal volume and two-dimensional ultrasound volume of CKD 1 patients increased significantly, three-dimensional ultrasound volume of CKD2 patients reduced significantly, and two-dimensional ultrasound volume of CKD4 patients reduced significantly. There was significant negative correlation among VI, three-dimensional ultrasound volume, CT, two-dimensional ultrasound volume and pathological change scoring (r=-0.67, -0.52, -0.43, -0.52). Conclusion VI and three-dimensional ultrasound volume can detect renal function damage more earlier and sensitively than RI and two-dimensional ultrasound volume.

Ethyl carbamate (EC) as a potential carcinogen commonly exists in traditional fermented foods. It is important eliminate urea that is the precursors of EC in many fermented foods, including Chinese Rice wine. On the basis of achieving high-level overexpression of food-grade ethanol-resistant acid urease, we studied the hydrolysis of urea and EC with the recombinant acid urease. Recombinant acid urease showed degraded urea in both the simulated system with ethanol and Chinese Rice wine (60 mg/L of urea was completely degraded within 25 h), indicating that the recombinant enzyme is suitable for the elimination of urea in Chinese Rice wine. Although recombinant acid urease also has degradation catalytic activity on EC, no obvious degradation of EC was observed. Further investigation results showed that the Km value for urea and EC of the recombinant acid urease was 0.7147 mmol/L and 41.32 mmol/L, respectively. The results provided theoretical foundation for realizing simultaneous degradation of urea and EC.
