Aim To investigate the effects of U50,488H(a selective ?-opioid receptor agonist)on ventricular arrhythmias induced by myocardial ischemia and reperfusion in rats and to elucidate their mechanisms.Methods The contents of CK(creatine phosphokinase)and LDH(lactate dehydrogenase)were measured; The isolated heart was perfused using langendorff equipment. Heart rate(HR), arterial blood pressure(ABP), left ventricular pressure (LVP), cardiac function (?dp/dtmax), rate of ventricular tachycardia(VT)and ventricular fibrillation(VF)were examined in rats in vitro. Objective To assess attitudes and its related factors of Chinese military personnel on homosexual served in the military.Methods 1362 enlisted military personnel,selected from land force by cluster sampiing,were interviewed by Military Personnel's Attitudes Toward Homosexuals in the Military Scale(ATHM).Results The attitudes of the present sample toward homosexual served in the military were found to be negative(the total score on the ATHM scale was (29.28 ± 6.59).The threat dimension made the biggest contribution to the negative attitude,followed by the comfort dimension.Marital status was negatively related to the total scores of ATHM (r =-0.067,P ＜ 0.05),and other demographic variables such as age,only child,nationality,childhood environment,education level,years of service,and military rank were not associated with attitudes toward homosexuals in the military (r =-0.01,0.002,-0.035,-0.041,-0.015,-0.041,-0.039,P ＞ 0.05).Further multiple linear regression analysis found that marital status was one of the attitudes' predictors.Conclusion Because of the threat and discomfort with homosexual,the attitudes toward homosexual in the military are mildly negative,and marital status correlate with it.

BACKGROUND:Fibrin glue introduced into calcium phosphate cement has not been confirmed whether this way could overcome the compressive limits and the low degradation of calcium phosphate cement and to modify the biological properties of calcium phosphate cement. OBJECTIVE:To explore the mechanical and biological properties of calcium phosphate cement/fibrin glue at different powder/liquid ratio for bone regeneration in vitro. METHODS:Calcium phosphate cement and fibrin glue were mixed at ratios of 1:1, 3:1, 5:1 (mL/g), and the pure calcium phosphate cement served as controls. Setting time, scanning electron microscope and the biomechanical test were used to analyze the composite scaffold structure, physical performance and the mechanical properties. Passage 3 osteoblasts were respectively inoculated on the material surface of the four groups, and pure cells served as blank controls. celladhesion, proliferation and alkaline phosphatase activity were observed. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:The initial and final setting time of calcium phosphate cement/fibrin glue at 1:1 and 3:1 (mL/g) was higher than that in the control group (P<0.05), while the initial and final setting time of calcium phosphate cement/fibrin glue at 5:1 (mL/g) was lower than that of the control group (P<0.05). Scanning electron microscope showed smoother and denser surface of composite scaffolds compared with the pure calcium phosphate cement. The aperture of the composite scaffolds was decreased with the increasing concentration of fibrin glue. The compressive strength of composite scaffolds at 3:1 and 5:1 was higher than that of the control group (P<0.05), while the modulus of the composite scaffolds at 1:1, 3:1, 5:1 was higher than that of the control group (P<0.05). celladhesion, proliferation and alkaline phosphatase activity showed no difference among the three composite scaffold and control groups, but al higher than the blank control group (P<0.05). These findings indicate that fibrin glue introduced into calcium phosphate cement can overcome the low-strength limits of calcium phosphate cement, and maintain the good biological properties of calcium phosphate cement for bone regeneration.

Aim To investigate the anti-arrhythmic effect and mechanism of ?-opioid receptor during myocardial ischemia and reperfusion in rats,and to initially determine the regulation of U50488H(U50,a selective ?-opioid receptor agonist) to angiotensinⅡ(AngⅡ),endothelin(ET) and nitric oxide(NO) in rats.Methods Rats were randomly divided into 7 groups,i.e.,control group,ischemia/reperfusion group(I/R),U50488H+I/R group,PTX group(PTX,a Gi/o proteininhibitor),Glib group(glibenclamide,a K_(ATP) channel blocker),Che group(chelerythrine,a selective PKC inhibitor),and Gen group(Genistein,a Tyrosine kinase inhibitor) respectively.The arrhythmia occurrence and score in different groups were observed and counted.The contents of AngⅡ,ET and NO in plasma of rats were also examined.Results ① Compared with I/R group,the arrhythmia score of U50+I/R group was significantly decreased.The effect of pared with I/R group,the arrhythmia score of U50+I/R group was significantly decreased.The effect of glibenclamide and chelerythrine respectively,the anti-arrhythmic effects induced by U50488H in the rats during myocardial ischemia and reperfusion were significantly attenuated or even completely blocked.③ The anti-arrhythmic effects of U50488H were not significantly affected by pretreatment with genistein.④ In comparison with normal rats,the contents of AngⅡand ET in plasma of I/R group were significantly increased,but the content of NO was decreased.With the administration of U50488H,the contents of AngⅡand ET in plasma of rats in U50488H+I/R group were significantly decreased.Meantime the content of NO was increased.Conclusions ① U50488H-induced anti-arrhythmic effects in the rats with myocardial ischemia and reperfusion are mediated by ?-opioid receptor.The signaling pathway may be related with(Gi/o,) PKC,and K_(ATP) channel.② The activation of ?-opioid receptor may elicit anti-arrhythmic effect through the down-regulations of AngⅡ or ET and up-regulation of NO in plasma of rats.

OBJECTIVE: To observe cardiac ultrastructure and the expression of heat shock protein 70 (HSP70) and hypoxia inducible factor-lα (HIF-lα) in electric shock death rats and to explore the application of these indexes as the basis of medical identification in electric shock death. METHODS: Seventy-two SD rats were randomly divided into electric shock death group, postmortem electric shock group and the control group. The changes of myocardial ultrastructure were observed by transmission electron microscope, and the expressions of myocardial HSP70 and HIF-1α were observed by immunohistochemical technology. RESULTS: Myocardial myofibril fracture, mitochondrial cristae and membrane dissolution, and disordered arrangement of Z lines and M lines were observed in electric shock rats. HSP70 and HIF-lα were strong positive expressions in the electric shock death group, significantly compared with the control and postmortem electric shock groups (P < 0.05). CONCLUSION The expressions of HSP70 and HIF-lα were obviously increased in electric shock death group, which may be used as the diagnostic indicator of electric shock death.

In this study, hydrophilic matrix sustained release tablets of total lactones from Andrographis paniculata were prepared and the in vitro release behavior were also evaluated. The optimal prescription was achieved by studying the main factor of the type and amount of hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (HPMC) using single factor test and evaluating through cumulative release of three lactones. No burst drug release from the obtained matrix tablets was observed. Drug release sustained to 14 h. The release mechanism of three lactones from A. paniculata was accessed by zero-order, first-order, Higuchi and Peppas equation. The release behavior of total lactones from A. paniculata was better agreed with Higuchi model and the drug release from the tablets was controlled by degradation of the matrix. The preparation of hydrophilic matrix sustained release tablets of total lactones from A. paniculata with good performance of drug release was simple.

Objective To investigate the effect of behavior change mission mode in traditional Chinese medicine treatment of patients with bone marrow suppression after chemotherapy.Methods Totals of 60 patients after gynecological malignancies who undergone chemotherapy were randomly divided into control and observation groups,both groups used the same kinds of Chinese medicine.Patients in the observation group received health education by behavior change mode,while patients in control group received the general health education.The routine blood test in the two groups were observed and patients were followed up regularly.Results The decrease incidence of WBC in observation group was significantly lower than that in control group (30％ vs 60％),the different were statistical significant (x2 =5.46,P ＜ 0.05).The observation group's bone marrow suppression showed lower incidence than control group with no Ⅳ bone marrow suppression happened.Significant differences were found in the extent of WBC damaged and time required to recover WBC between two groups (P ＜ 0.05).The utilization of leucocyte-stimulating agents,and the use rate of rising WBC medicine in observation group were lower than that in control group [232.5 μg vs 450.0 μg,3.33％ vs 26.67％ ; P ＜0.05)].The time in leukocyte to recovery normal level was more quicker in observation group than control group,the difference was statistical significant (t =5.547,6.364 ; P ＜ 0.05).Conclusions The health education model of behavior change shows the clinical significance in improving the efficacy of traditional Chinese medicine treatment of bone marrow suppression after chemotherapy.

OBJECTIVESTo investigate the histological changes in liver biopsy tissues taken from chronic hepatitis B patients with HBsAg and HBeAg positive and ALT abnormal after lamivudine therapy for one year.

METHODSLamivudine was given orally at the dose of 100 mg once a day for one year. 101 patients were enrolled into this open-label study. Paired liver biopsies from patients with hepatitis B before and after therapy with lamivudine were studied. Blinded biopsies were evaluated by a histopathologist and scored according to Knodell's histology activity index(HAI).

RESULTS53.5% (54/101), 51.5% (52/101) and 31.7% (32/101) patients had a reduction of their total hepatic HAI score, necroinflammation and fibrosis scores by >or=2 points or 1 points at the end of one year of lamivudine therapy, compared with their pretreatment values, respectively. There were significant reduction of HAI score, necroinflammation and fibrosis scores from 8.0+/-4.7 to 5.2+/-3.3 (t=7.358, P<0.01), from 5.9+/-3.8 to 3.6+/-2.5 (t=7.298, P<0.01), and from 2.1+/-1.2 to 1.6+/-1.2 (t=3.827, P<0.01), respectively. The histological improvement was independent on the HBeAg seroconvertion during the therapy.

CONCLUSIONSignificant improvement in liver histology, both necroinflammation and fibrosis, can be obtained in the majority of patients treated with lamivudine for one year.
