Objective To determine the characteristics and the best parameters of the retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL) thickness measured by optical coherence tomography (OCT) in the early diagnosis of primary open angle glaucoma (POAG). Methods The thickness of RNFL was quantified by OCT (Carl Zeiss Meditec, Stratus OCT3000 version 3, RNFL3.4) in 71 POAGs(119 eyes) and 76 controls(148 eyes). Results The 9 OCT parameters with the largest AUCs and asymptatic significance less than 0.05 in ROC curve in the early diagnosis of primary open angle glaucoma (POAG) were thickness of 6, 7, 11 o’clock position, inferior, superior, average thickness, inferior maximum, superior average, inferior average. Conclusion In early stage of glaucoma, the thickness of RNFL measured by OCT provides a new index for the diagnosis of glaucoma. The best parameters seem to 6, 7, 11 o’clock position, inferior, superior, average thickess, inferior maximum, superior average, inferior average.

International Journal of Cerebrovascular Diseases 2006;0(10):-
Computed tomography perfusion imaging can accurately and promptly provide hemodynamic parameters of brain tissues after stroke, and it has a good correlation with the accepted hemodynamic measurement, the parameters got from xenon-computed tomography, functional magnetic resonance imaging and positron emission tomography. Therefore,CTP has been widely used in predicting the studies of ischemic penumbra after stroke.

International Journal of Cerebrovascular Diseases 2006;0(10):-
The prognosis and outcome in patients with intracerebral hemorrhage are closely correlated with perihernatoma tissue injury and recovery. The pathophysiological mechanisms after intracerebral hemorrhage are extremely complicated. There are regional blood flow changes in perihematoma tissues, but whether there is a similar“penumbra”as in cerebral ischemia remains uncertain. At present, studies in this field have mainly focused on the imaging detection of regional cerebral blood flow and metabolism. The study methods frequently used include single photon emission computed tomography, functional magnetic resonance imaging, magnetic resonance spectroscopy, positron emission tomography and CT perfusion imaging, etc. The application of these imaging techniques have provided some valuable methods for identifying whether perihematoma penumbra is present or not,but further studies are needed to confirm it.

Objective To study the molecular pathway of osteoblastic differentiation induced by substance P (SP), a neurotransmitter. Methods Mesenchymal stem cells were isolated and cultured, and treated with SP or its receptor (NK1) antagonist to induce osteoblastic cell differentiation, respectively. Alkaline phosphatase activity was determined; Osterix gene expression was detected by RT-PCR after 1-2 weeks for three times. The data of each culture condition were analyzed using SPSS12.0 statistical software to determine whether the differences between conditions were significant. Results After 4-5 days' culture, bone marrow stromal cells became spindle-shaped, triangular or polygonic. They covered the plate surface, formed extensive cell sheets in each group after 11-12 days of culture, and then induced differentiation to osteoblast. SP up-regulated the important transcription factor Osterix gene expression significantly (P<0.05). Conclusion The up-regulation of Osterix gene expression by SP may stimulate osteoblastic cell differentiation. SP's regulation depends on its receptor NK1.

Objective To study the expression of HIF-1α and survivin in gastric cancer, and to study their role in tumor angiogenesis, invasion and metastasis. Methods Immunohistochemieal technique was used to detect the expression of HIF-1α and survivin in 54 cases of gastric cancer. Results The expression rate of HIF-lα in gastric cancer (74.1%) was higher than that in normal gastric tissue (O),The expression of HIF-1α in gastric cancer was associated with TNM staging, invasive depth and lymph-node metastasis (P<0.05),The expression of survivin in gastric cancers was high (72.2%),and increased with invasive depth (P<0.01),clinical stages (P<0.01) and lymphatic metastasis (P<0.05).There was a positive correlation between expression of HIF-1α and Survivin (r:0.31,P<0.05).Conclusion HIF-1α and Survivin could be factors in the judgement of the degree of malignancy of gastric cancer and prediction of its prognosis.

Objective To investigate the effects of Xuebijing injection on the production of ICAM-1 and its counterreceptor(LFA-1)in ANP of rats at different time points. Methods ANP was induced by multiple points in- jection of 5% chenodeoxycholic acid into the pancreas, followed by ligation of pancreatic duct.Expressions of ICAM- 1 at different time points were assessed by immunohistochemistry method, the expressions of LAF-1 on neutrophils at different time points were detected by flow cytometer. The effect of Xuebijing injection was also evaluated by de- tecting the output of ascitic fluid, amylase level and histological changes in pancreas and lungs. Results The expres- sions of ICAM-1 in pancreas and lung of Xuebijing injection group decreased significantly than those in ANP group at most time points during the research period(P

Objective To explore the clinical aspects and related EEG characteristics of epilepsy (EP) in children with cerebral palsy (CP).Methods The clinical data and the EEG Results of seizure-interictal-period in 84 CP children complicated with EP were collected and compared with the data of 124 CP children without EP.Results Among 84 CP children complicated with EP, 46 cases (54.76%) were partial seizures. Followed 26 cases (30.95%) were infantile spasms, 6 cases (7.14%) were tonic-clonic seizures. Spastic CP children tended to be the most patients seizures in EP, it was 82.14%. Children with teraplegia CP were the most type among the spastic CP children compliated with EP. The abnormal rate of EEG of CP children complicated with EP was significantly higher than that of CP children without EP ( P<0.001), and local epilptiform discharges and multilocal epileptiform discharges were main types. Conclusion Partial seizures is the most epilepsy type in CP children complicated with EP, and spastic CP is the main type. EEG abnormal ratio is obviously higher in the CP children complicated with EP than the CP children without EP. The types of abnormal EEG are mainly local epilptiform discharges and multilocal epileptiform discharges.
