Objective To observe the effect of different needling retaining times in clinical curative effect of acupuncture on the treatment of periarthritis humeroscapularis. Methods A total of 60 patients, who met the inclusion criteara, were randomly divided into 2 groups according to random number table method, 30 patients in each group. Both groups were treated with the same acupuncture therapy for 20 times, but the needling retaining times were different as 20 minutes and 40 minutes. The curative effect rates, Visual Analog Scale (VAS) and Constant-Murley Score (CMS) were evaluated. Results After the treatment, the VAS scoresin 40mins group was significantly lower than that in the 20 mins group (2.67 ± 1.03vs.3.60 ± 1.48,t=-3.251, P<0.01); the CMSin 40 mins group was significantly higher than the 20 mins group (73.20 ± 10.88vs.66.47 ± 12.62,t=-2.199,P<0.05). The curative effect rates of the 40 mins group was 26.7% (8/30), which was significantly higher than 3.3% (1/30) in the 20 mins group (χ2=4.706,P=0.030). The total effective rates in the 40 mins group was 90.0% (27/30), which was significantly higher than 96.7% (29/30) in the 20 mins group (χ2=0.268,P=0.605).Conclusions Acupuncture treatment for the patients with periarthritis humeroscapularis showed that the 40 minutes of needling retaining times had better symptom improvement and restore function effects than 20 minutes, however the total effective rate was no significant difference.

This study was conducted to investigate the anti-tumor efficacy of nanosecond pulsed electric fields (nsPEFs) on the mouse with A375-GFP melanoma xenograft in vivo. In vivo fluorescence image analysis system was used in this study to evaluate the effects of nsPEFs on human melanoma A375 cell xenograft. On the Day 90 af ter pulse delivery, the skin that had contained A375 cell xenograft was surgically excised and pathologically evalua ted. The changes of scar were recorded by digital camera. The experiment revealed that significant changes in fluorescence value trend and amplitude were found in the treated group from those in the control group. The fluorescence of tumor in the treated group decreased mostly 48 h after the treatment and completely disappeared 10 d after the treatment, while that in control group was increased gradually. Surgical excision of the area confirmed a complete pathologic response. Within a few days after the nsPEFs treatment, a hard scab formed at the treatment region. The scab fell off by the end of the second week. As time went on, the scar gradually became faded and all xenograft tumors were disappeared without recurrence. From the experiment, we learn that nsPEFs can bring good therapeutic effect. It may provide a new approach for the clinical treatment of superficial tumors.

Objective:To explore the relation among depression, anxiety, coping styles and personality in patients with major depression.Method:88 patients with major depression were assessed on admission. The assessments included Self-Rating Depression Scale (SDS), Self-Rating Anxiety Scale(SAS),Eysenck Personality Questionnaire and Coping Styles Questionnaire. Nighty normal controls were assessed with the same instruments too. Results:The patients were found having higher scores in Neuroticism and Psychoticism, and lower scores in Extroversion and positive coping styles than normal controls.Higher scores in SDS, SAS, Neuroticism, and Psychoticism, and lower scores in positive coping styles, were found in the patients with anxiety. Significant relationship was found among depression, SAS, Extroversion, and positive coping styles. The last three accounted for 52.0% of the variance of depression. Conclusion:The patients with major depression have high scores in Neuroticism and Psychoticism, and low in Extroversion and positive coping styles. Those with anxiety scored even higher in SDS, SAS, Neuroticism, and Psychoticism, and lower in positive coping styles. The application of little positwe coping styles moy be a part of Extrovision in major depresion.

Objective To investigate the clinical curative effect of Prepenem for pathogen from cranial neu-rosurgieal patients with lower respiratory tract infection after traeheotomy and to provide basis for treatment of such pa-tients. Methods Thirty-two cranial neurosurgical patients with lower respiratory tract infection after tracheotomy were enrolled in the study with original empiric therapy with Prepenem. And the pathogenic bacteria in sputum from patients with lower respiratory tract infection after traeheotomy were stricdy identified and analyzed by automatic mi-croorganism analyzers. The clinical efficacy of Prepenem was identified after treatment. Results The straim of bacte-rial species(48) and funni(5) from 32 specimens were isolated. 15 strains were infected by one kind of bacteria and 38 strains were infected by two kinds of bacteria. Among the pathogen, gram-negative bacilli were about 64. 1% and Klebsiela pneumoniae (18. 8%)was the most predominant, gram-positive coccobacteria were about 26. 4% and Staph-ylococcus aureus(13.2%)was the most predominant, funni were about 9.4% and C. albicans (5.7%)was the most predominant. The drug sensitivity test showed that the ratio of drug resistance of bacteria isolated from sputum was high, but gram-negative bacilli were highly sensitive to imipenem. Staphylococcus aurens was sensitive to Nitrofuran-toin and Rifampicin. Satisfied clinical curative effect was shown by the de-escalation therapy for all patients. Conclu-sions Gram-negative bacili in cranial neurosurgical patients with lower respiratory tract infection after tracheotomy are the main pathogenic bacteria from lower respiratory tract infection, and Staphylococcus aureus are the main gram-positive cocci. So the drug sensitivity test of sputum should be done more often and antibiotics must be selected ac-cording to the drug sensitivity test. In general, this kind of infection can be controlled by prepenem effectively.

Objective:To investigate the awareness of diabetic retinopathy (DR) prevention and treatment knowledge of diabetic patients in the community of Shenzhen, and analyze its influencing factors. Methods:A cluster random sampling method was used to select 904 patients with diabetes diagnosed in 6 community health service centers in 2 administrative districts of Shenzhen and included in this study. Questionnaire survey of patients were performed to understand their knowledge of DR prevention and treatment. The multi-factor logistic regression analysis method was used to analyze the related influencing factors of DR prevention knowledge awareness. Results:Among 904 patients, 144 patients (15.93%, 144/904) knew about DR prevention and treatment knowledge. The highest awareness rate were about "Diabetes can affect vision and even cause blindness" (88.60%, 801/904). The lowest awareness rate (6.20%, 56/904) were about "DR treatment methods". About "diabetes requires regular fundus examinations" and "diabetics", the awareness rate of fundus examination interval were less than 50.00%. The results of multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that gender [odds ratio ( OR)=1.595], education level ( OR=2.963, 3.937), monthly income level ( OR=3.871, 4.675), diabetes course ≥15 years ( OR=1.829), treatment measures ( OR=3.318, 4.512). Whether people had DR ( OR=1.605) were important factors that affected the awareness of DR prevention and treatment knowledge ( P<0.05). Conclusions:The overall awareness of DR prevention and treatment knowledge among diabetic patients in the community of Shenzhen is relatively low. Males, low education and income levels are the main influencing factors.

Objective To explore the preventive effect of the supplemental dietary boron on bone damage of rats with excess fluoride (EF) ingestion. Methods Twenty-four Sprague-Dawley rats aged 4-5 weeks old were divided into the control (C group, treated with distilled water and the elementary dietary), the excessive fluoride dose group (EF group, treated with distilled water with 100mg/L F-from 221.0g NaF per liter and the elementary dietary) and the boron prevention group (P group, treated with 100mg/L F-distilled water and the supplemental boron dietary). Three months after the experiment, fluorine, boron contents and AKP activities in serum, total RNA and fluorine contents in bone, vertical and transverse diameter and dry weight of tibias of rats were assayed, and bone biomechanics of femur and bone mineral density (BMD) were determined. Results Compared with those in the C group, fluorine contents in serum and bone, AKP activities in serum of rats in the EF group significantly increased; total RNA in bone and BMD of the bone of whole body and tibia decreased, vertical and transverse diameter of tibias was shortened, dry weight was decreased; peak load of femur increased but maximum deformation decreased. Compared with those in EF group, fluorine contents in serum and bone, AKP activities in serum of rats in the P group obviously decreased; total RNA in bone and BMD of whole body, lumbar vertebrae and tibias notably increased, vertical and transverse diameters and dry weight of tibia were enhanced, peak load of femur was obviously raised. Boron contents in serums of rats in three groups had no significant differences. Conclusion Bone damage obviously occurred in rats with EF intake, and the supplemental dietary boron had a preventive effect on these changes.
