Objective To explore the change of serum level of neuron specific enolase (NSE) in neonates with asphyxia before and after head mild hypothermia.Methods Eighty-two asphyxial neonates were selected,including 39 mild asphyxial neonates and 43 severe asphy-xial neonates,and 29 healthy neonates were selected as control group.Forty-three severe asphyxial neonates were randomly assigned into mild hypothermia treatment group and traditional treatment group.Neonates in traditional treatment group were just given traditional treatment.While neonates in mild hypothermia treatment group received head mild hypothermia therapy and their nasopharyngeal temperature were maintained at(34.0 ? 0.5) ℃ for 72 h.Before treatment and 72 h after treatment,2 mL blood was collected,and the serum NSE was determined by radio immunoassay.Results NSE levels in mild asphyxial neonates group[(34.83?6.17) ?g/L] and severe asphyxial group[(59.58?8.87) ?g/L] were significantly higher than that of control group[(30.57?4.88) ?g/L](t=3.07 P0.05).The level of NSE at 72 h in severe asphyxial neonates with head mild hypothermia therapy[(40.97?6.55) ?g/L] was significantly lower than that of traditional treatment group [(48.15?5.57) ?g/L](t=3.86 P

Objective To evaluate the treatment methods for subtrochanteric femur fractures in children and adolescents.Methods Sixty-two patients (at age of 4-16 years) with subtrochanteric fe-mur fractures were managed with traction and delayed hip spica (14 patients, set as nonoperative group) ,titanium elastic nails or pin combined with cast (38 patients, set as less invasive group) and plates (10 patients, set as traditional operative group).The radiologic outcomes, hip joint function and complica-tions of the patients were analyzed.Results According to Beaty scoring, five patients in nonoperative group and 44 in operative group obtained satisfactory early radiologic outcomes.Late radiologic outcome was satisfactory in nine patients from nonoperative group and 46 from operative group according to Theolo-gis scoring, with statistical differences between two groups (P<0.05).Sanders scoring showed excellent results in 11 patients and good in three from nonoperative group, and excellent results in 43 and good in five from operative group, with no statistical differences between two groups (P > 0.05).Less invasive group and traditional operative group showed significantly statistical different in aspects of complications and Sanders scores (P < 0.05).Conclusions Operative treatment provides more satisfactory early and late radiologic results than nonoperative methods.Less invasive operations have better outcomes than tra-ditional operative methods.Selection of treatment modalities based on age, body weight, fracture features and soft tissue conditions of children is the prerequisite for a good outcome.

A random sample survey was conducted in 17 community medical institutes in 4 districts in Beijing.Among an effective sample of 385 residents.47.5％ (n =183)of community residents chose community medical institutes for first contact care while 52.5％ (n =202) opted for class other hospitals.Residents with lower education levels tended to choose community medical institutes (P =0.01).And those with chronic diseases preferred to choose communities (P=0.00).

AIM: Bone morphogenetic protein (BMP) as polyphenic morphogen can induce the formation of bone and cartilage. This study investigates the effect of BMP on articular cartilage regeneration after periosteal graft. METHODS: Experiments were performed at the Animal Laboratory (absl-3) of Weifang People's Hospital from September 2006 to January 2007. Sixteen New Zealand white rabbits (32 knees) (2.5-3.0 kg) were divided into experimental and control groups randomly, each 8 rabbits (16 knees). The 3.5 mm in diameter of full-thickness articular cartilage defect was made on femoral intercondylar fossa in all rabbits, and 3.5 mm in diameter of periosteum was cut out from the anteromedial part of the upper tibial bone. In the experimental group, the cartilage defect was covered with periosteum, into which 20 ?g BMP and 20% Pluronic were injected. In the control group, the cartilage defect was covered with periosteum, into which the same dosages of 9 g/L saline and 20% Pluronic were injected. All the rabbits were sacrificed in 4, 8 and 12 weeks postoperatively. Motion of joint, conjunction of repair tissue and perienchyma were examined macroscopically. Haematoxylin-eosin staining and toluidine blue staining were used to observe the characteristics of repair tissues. Histological scores on samples in each group were measured by Wakitani score standard at different time points with light microscope. Ultramicrostructure of transplanted tissues was observed with scanning electron microscopy (SEM). RESULTS: Sixteen rabbits were included in the final analysis. Macroscopic observation: 4 weeks after the surgery, the defect was covered with tissue like cartage in the experimental group, and with periosteum in the control group. 8 weeks after the surgery, the surface of the defect was smooth, with boundary unclear in the experimental group. In the control group, the outcome was the opposite. In 12 weeks, cartilage had formed in the experimental group, and tissue like cartilage began to happen in control one. Histological observation: 4 weeks after the surgery, the defect was filled with cells and matrix with abundant proliferation of periosteal cambium layer in the experimental group, and slight proliferation in the control group. 8 weeks after the surgery, the periosteum in the experimental group became fibrocartilage with little hyaline cartilage. Just little fibrocartilage with on hyaline one was detected in the control group. In 12 weeks, the repair tissue in the experimental group approached to normal cartilage. Objective:To study the anti-inflammatory effect of immune milk. Method:Twenty four strains of pathogenic bacteria (including 12 strains of pathogenic E.coli, 8 strains of Salmonella, 3 strains of Shigella and 1 strain of Yersinia enterocolitica) originated from human intestinal tract were selected as antigens, and dairy cows were immunized. Results:Vaccination could not increase the concentration of IgG in the immune milk, but significantly highten the specificity of milk antibodies. The antibody titers against 24 pathogenic bacteria in immune milk was 128, 64 folds of control regular milk. Conclusion:Feeding of immune milk could inhibit edema of rat footpad induced by carrageenin and formaldehyde and the formation of acestoma of mice caused by cotton embedded hypophloedally. Meanwhile, the PGE2 level in inflammatory footpad of rat fed with immune milk was remarkably lower than that of rat fed with regular milk. These results indicate that immune milk has anti-inflammatory property.

Objective To identify the isolated rat bone marrow derived mesenchymal stem cells(MSCs),and evaluate the efficiency of adenoviral vector expressing human urokinase type plasminogen activator(uPA) in transfection of rat MSCs and its effect on proliferation of MSCs. Methods MSCs were isolated and purified by pasted wall purification,and were identified by immunicytochemistry.The transfection efficiency of uPA was detected by fluorescent microscopy,the expression of uPA in MSCs was detected by Western blotting,and the proliferation of MSCs was evaluated by MTT. Results The harvested MSCs exhibited the typical appearance of MSCs,and it was revealed by immunohistochemistry that the expression of MSCs markers CD29 and CD90 was positive,while that of CD34 and CD45 was negative.A tendency of increase in expression of green fluorescent protein(GFP) was observed with increase of multiplicity of infection(MOI).After transfection with AduPA for 72 h,the transfection efficiency reached(94.0?1.5)% at MOI of 80,and positive GFP cells could still be observed even after 7 d.The transfected uPA had no effect on the proliferation of MSCs. Conclusion MSCs are favourable genetic vectors to express uPA,and can be used for treatment of liver fibrosis.

Objective To explore the clinical aspects and related EEG characteristics of epilepsy (EP) in children with cerebral palsy (CP).Methods The clinical data and the EEG Results of seizure-interictal-period in 84 CP children complicated with EP were collected and compared with the data of 124 CP children without EP.Results Among 84 CP children complicated with EP, 46 cases (54.76%) were partial seizures. Followed 26 cases (30.95%) were infantile spasms, 6 cases (7.14%) were tonic-clonic seizures. Spastic CP children tended to be the most patients seizures in EP, it was 82.14%. Children with teraplegia CP were the most type among the spastic CP children compliated with EP. The abnormal rate of EEG of CP children complicated with EP was significantly higher than that of CP children without EP ( P＜0.001), and local epilptiform discharges and multilocal epileptiform discharges were main types.Conclusion Partial seizures is the most epilepsy type in CP children complicated with EP, and spastic CP is the main type. EEG abnormal ratio is obviously higher in the CP children complicated with EP than the CP children without EP. The types of abnormal EEG are mainly local epilptiform discharges and multilocal epileptiform discharges.
