To study the effect of physical fitness exercise prescription on the cardiac function of collegians, three different exercise prescriptions on the collegians extra-curriculum exercises to develop their strength, cardiac function and overall physical fitness separately and one control were applied. The results show that after 8 weeks training, the rest HR of all exercise groups decreased while SV(stroke volumn), SI (stroke index), CO (cardiac output)and CI (cardiac index) increased significantly. Furthermore, the results also show that VPE (ventricular pumping effectiveness) and VPEI (ventricular pumping effectiveness index) of exercise groups increased while MSP(mean systolic pressure), MDP(mean diastolic pressure) and MAP (mean arterial pressure) decreased at variant degree. From the study it is not difficult to see that doing exercise prescription can develop the collegians' cardiac-function significantly. Comparing these three exercise prescriptions show that doing endurance exercise prescription can get the best effect on developing the cardiac-function, but doing the comprehensive-developing exercise prescription can get more comprehensive effect on cardiac and vascular function. Another result from comparing the control group shows that the females are easier to get the physiological function descent than the males if they do not do exercises actively. In conclusion, it is worth to extend physical fitness exercise prescription in collegians' extra-curriculum exercise because of the simple condition, scientific method and significant effect.

AIM: To study the effect and mechanism of all-trans retinoic acid (atRA) on neural stem cell (NSCs) proliferation and differentiation from new born Sprague- Dawley rat striatum. METHODS: NSCs were isolated from the brains of new born Sprague-Dawley rat striatum, and the features of cells were characterized by immunofluorescence staining. The effects of different culture medium on cell cycle distribution and proliferation of NSCs were determined by flow cytometry (FCM) . The effects of atRA on differentiation of NSCs were determined by immunofluorescence staining and classified count of differentiated cells. RESULTS: FCM assay indicated that atRA inhibited the proliferation of NSCs. The percentage of cells in G0/G1 phase in atRA treatment group was significantly higher than that in control, and the proliferation index (PI) was significantly low. The percentage of neurons differentiated from NSCs in atRA group was 2.5 times of the control group after induced by adding 10% FCS in culture medium. CONCLUSION: atRA counteracts the effects of bFGF on the promotion of mitosis and inhibition of differentiation of NSCs. atRA also promotes NSCs to differentiate into neurons in vitro.

ObjectiveTo aim at the deficiencies of existing assessment methods,and put forward ideas,methods and contents to reform experimental course assessment methods for undergraduates.MethodsAll of the fifth-grade preventive medicine undergraduates were divided into experimental group (n=34) and control group(n=31),reformed and conventional assessment methods were used in experimental group and control group respectively.The difference in attendance,experimental skill and reports were compared between two groups.ResultsAttendance,test scores and experimental skill scores of students in experimental group were significantly higher than that in control group and compared with the control group students (P＜0,05),the experimental group students' understanding on the experimental principle,phenomena and data analysis were better.ConclusionReformed assessment methods of experimental course has an improved effect on teaching for undergraduates.

Butyric acid can be used to produce cellulose butyrate fiber and ester derivatives,and to be applied in foodstuffs and perfume industries.Recent researches have found that butyric acid is a preferred carbon source for colonic epithelial cells,and can inhibit histone deacetylase,showing great anticancer potentials.With more and more functions of butyric acid being found and applied in bio-related fields,and with consumer's growing preference to bioproducts,biotechnological production of butyric acid will receive more competence than petroleum-based chemical synthesis.Low product concentration and poor selectivity are presently the main restricting factors.Workers have made considerable progress on more cheep carbon sources,optimization of fermentation process,simplifying downstream processing,and genetic engineering of producing strains.Any achievement on these aspects in the future can contribute to put fermentation of butyric acid into industry.

Objective To study the changes and clinical significance of serum kalium,natrium,chlorine,calcium and glucose in children with febrile convulsion(FC).Methods Serum kalium,natrium,chlorine,calcium and glucose concentrations were measured in 41 children with FC(FC group),30 children with fever and without convulsion(fever group) and 30 normal children(normal group) by automatic biochemical detector.Results Serum kalium and calcium concentrations had no significant difference between FC group and fever group,but they were significantly lower than those of normal group(F=5.965,3.048 P0.05).Conclusions There are hyponatremia,hyperglycemia and lowered blood kalium and calcium in patients with FC.Hence,while treating the patient with FC,the disturbance of blood electrolytes and glucose need be corrected to avoid the recurrence of FC and the progressive injury of important organs such as brain.

Objective To compare the efficacy of concurrent chemoradiotherapy versus radiotherapy alone for T3-4 N0-1 M0 and T14 N2-3 M0 nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) after induction chemotherapy.Methods From 2002 to 2005,400 patients with stage Ⅲ and Ⅳa NPC were randomly divided into 2 groups :induction chemotherapy followed by concurrent chemoradiotherapy group (IC/CCRT,201 patients),and induction chemotherapy followed by radiotherapy alone group (IC/RT, 199 patients).Subgroup analysis was conducted for 197 patients with stage T3-4N0-1M0 NPC and 203 with stage T1-4N2-3M0 NPC.Results The follow-up rate were 96.2%, with a median followg-up time of 3.9 years.For T3-4N0-1 M0 NPC patients in IC/CCRT group (104 patients) and IC/RT group (93 patients), the 3-year overall survival, disease-free survival, locoregional recurrence-free survival and distant metastasis-free survival rates were 84.0% and 85.9% (χ2=0.08,P =0.780) ,77.0% and 72.0% (χ2=0.44,P =0.510) ,89.5% and 92.3% (χ2=0.65 ,P = 0.420), and 84.9% and 77.0% (χ2= 1.59, P = 0.210), respectively; For T1-4 N2-3 M0 NPC patients in IC/CCRT group (97 patients) and IC/RT group (106 patients), the corresponding rates were 67.4% and 82.2% (χ2=3.48,P=0.060), 61.5% and 68.0% (χ2= 1.86,P=0.170), 86.2% and 87.0% (χ2=0.57 ,P =0.450) and 66.2% and 75.6% (χ2=2.07 ,P =0.150), respectively.Acute sideeffects were similar except more leucocytopenia in IC/CCRT group than IC/RT group.Conclusions Compared with IC/RT, IC/CCRT dose not improve the overall survival in patients with T3-4N0-1 M0 and T1-4 N2-3 M0 NPC.

Objective:To analyze the feature of cranial nerve involvement in nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) and its relationship with the prognosis.Method:A total of 1892 patients who were diagnosed as NPC in our hospital from January 2002 to December 2003,of which the cranial nerve involvement was 183 (9.6%) patients, were analyzed the effect of cranial nerve involvement on the prognosis.Result:The percentage of cranial nerve involvement was 9.4%. The 5 year overall survival rate was 61.0%,disease free survival rate was 55.3%,local relapse free survival rate was 75.2% and distant metastasis free survival rate was73.4%.Periods of cranial nerve involvement,clinical stage,the diameter of the lymph nodes,involvement of cavernous sinus, and the level of the recovery of cranial nerve involvement were significantly associated with prognosis in univariate analysis(P<0.05).With multivariate analysis,the recovery level of cranial nerve involvement was the independent factor that affected the 5-year overall survival (RR=2.087). The diameter of the lymph nodes and involvement of cavernous sinus were the independent factors that affected the 5-year distant metastasis-free survival(RR=1.954 and 2.136,respectively).Conclusion:Periods of cranial nerve involvement and the level of the recovery of cranial nerve involvement were significantly correlated with prognosis. Involvement of cavernous sinus could increase the rate of distant metastasis.

Objective To study the construction of training bases for three tumor therapies. Methods Eight training bases in six third-level first-class hospitals with score of technology assessment higher than 90 were investigated. Results There were good hardware in all training bases and qualified teaching staff in six of them. Annual operative quantity of hyperthermia and radioactive particles implantation technology of all training bases were up to the standard , while the coincidence rate of ablation technology was 80%. Besides , quantity of ablation technology and radioactive particles implantation technology trainees participated in during training met the standard, but that of hyperthermia not. There were significant difference in theory and operational test results before and after training (P < 0.01). Conclusions Management system, operative quantity and teaching staff construction need to be improved. Clinical skills training and standardized training assessment should be strengthened in base construction.
