OBJECTIVE:To prepare ZnO cream and to establish its quality control method. METHODS: The O/W cream base was used to prepare ZnO cream; The ZnO cream was assayed by EDTA-Na2 titration method with C2H5OH-CHCl3 (1∶1) to dissolve cream base. RESULTS: The prepared ZnO cream was well-spread, and its property, identification and tests etc were all in conformity with the description of China Pharmacopeia (2005 edition). The content of the ZnO stood at 16%. CONCLUSION: The preparative procedure of ZnO cream was simple and practicable, its quality control method was reliable and its quality was stable.

Objective To analyze the surgical treatment of hemangioma of limbs complicated by Kasabach-Mcrritt phenomenon in children. Methods A retrospective study was carried out on 31 children with hemangioma of limbs complicated by Kasabach-Merritt phenomenon.Lower limbs were affected in 19 patients, and upper limbs in 12 patients.Twenty-six patients showed decreased platelet count ((2.6-60) × 109/L) and fibrinogen level (< 1 g/L),and 21 prolonged partial prothrombin time (> 50 seconds). All the patients who had responded poorly to medications including glucocorticoids received surgical treatment. Results Of these patients,30 were cured, and one died of massive blood loss. After surgical treatment, the platelet count returned to normal in 1-3 days in 25 patients,3-7 days in 4 patients, and more than 10 days in one patient. Conclusions For pediatric hemangiomas of limbs complicated by Kasabach-Merritt phenomenon, surgical treatment should be given as early as possible so as to reduce mortality in patients.

Objective To observe the expression of cysteine rich-protein 61 (Cyr61) on renal tubular cells,to explore its effects against hypoxic induced kidney injury and the underlying mechanisms. Methods A stably Cyr61 expressed tubular cell line Cyr61-HK2 was established based on HK2 cells and recombinant Cyr61-lentivirus.BrdU incorporation assay was used for cell proliferation. The apoptosis of cells was analyzed by flow cytometry with Annexin V and propidiumiodide staining.Western bloting was used to detect the protein expression of BAD,Akt and ERK.Results (1) Cyr61-HK2 cells displayed more proliferation ability than HK2 cells.(2) Under hypoxia condition, the apoptosis of both HK2 and Cyr61-HK2 cells increased, but the apoptosis of Cyr61-HK2 cells was lesser than HK2 cells.(3) The expression of Cyr61 led to the phosphorylation of BAD,Akt and ERK on 0 h,0.5 h,1 h (all P < 0.05).Conclusion The expression of Cyr61 can promote cell proliferation and dampen cell apoptosis induced by hypoxia, which may be involved in the Akt/ERK signal pathway.

Objective To summarize the methods of diagnosis and results of surgical treatment of pancreatic insulinoma. Methods The clinical data of 137 patients with insulinoma treated in our hospital during the past twenty-six years were reviewed retrospectively. Results There were 77 males and 60 females. All of them were characterized by the Whipple′s triad. The sensitivity of ultrasonography, CT and MRI for localization was 35.1%, 67.9% and 58.1% respectively. One hundred and tweenty-six patients underwent operation. Of them, 102 cases had tumor enucleation, 4 cases had pancreaticoduodenectomy, 16 cases had distal panreatectomy, and the other 4 cases had only laparotomy. Of the 122 patients, who underwent resection, the tumor was benign in 118(96.7%) and malignant in 4(3.3%). The diameter of the tumor was less than 2cm in 86.9% of cases. In 98.4% of cases the tumors were single and in 1.6% of cases were multiple. 13.1% of the tumors located in the head, 46.7% in the body, and 40.2% in the tail. Conclusions Whipple′s triad and the measurement of fasting glucose, IRI, IGR, C-peptide, and proinsulin levels contribute to the diagnosis of insulinoma. However, the preoperative tumor localization is still difficult. Tumor enucleation is the technique of choice when feasible. Patients in whom tumor localization is unsuccessful at operation should be carefully evaluated to be certain of the diagnosis, and in general should not undergo blind resection.

Medical Journal of Chinese People's Liberation Army 1981;0(04):-
Forty-five patients with burn area exceeding 30% TBSA were studied prospectively. Among these 45 patients, 13 developed multiple organ failure (MSOF). Blood superoxide, dismutase (SOD) activity and plasma malondialdehyde (MDA) levels were sequentially determined to assess the role of excessive release of oxygen radicals and lipid peroxidase injury in the mechanism of pathogenesis of postburn MSOF. The results showed that the anti-oxidation capacity of the body was markedly depressed and lipid peroxidase injury markedly increased after a severe burn injury. These changes were not only related to hypovolemic shock after the injury, but also the severity of the burn injury and infection.

0.05).Quality of life in all the cases was satisfactory. Conclusions The living donor nephrectomy is feasible and safe.It is very important to examine living donor before operation, operate very carefully and perform long- term follow-up.

Objective To study the method of preparation and blood sugar lowering effect of oral chitosan-insulin nanoparticles (INS-NPs) in streptozotocin-induced diabetic Wistar rats. Methods The INS-NPs were prepared by an ionic gelation method. The changes in the morphology and size of the INS-NPs were observed with transmission electron microscope and Zetasizer 3000HS, respectively. The blood sugar lowering effect of the INS-NPs was evaluated by monitoring the blood glucose levels in healthy and streptozotocin-induced diabetic rats. Results INS-NPs were spherical in shape with a mean size of 220.6±15.9nm. Entrapment efficiency of INS-NPs was 75.4%±3.2% and the loading efficiency of INS-NPs was 19.5%±2.6%. In vivo blood sugar lowering study showed that the levels of blood glucose of healthy Wistar rats were significantly reduced from 6h to 12h after oral administration of INS-NPs(25U/kg). The blood glucose level of diabetic rats were significantly reduced at 6h after oral administration of INS-NPs (25U/kg), and this effect was maintained for more than 9h, and the levels of blood glucose were kept in normal range for 7h. Conclusion The INS-NPs prepared by ionic gelation method has the blood glucose lowering effect in streptozotocin-induced diabetic Wistar rats.
