A research combined trickling filter system and active sludge aeration system was applied in the treatment of industrial wastewater from gas-generating with heavy oil. The wastewater contained both high contents of NH+4-N and mixed hydrocarbons including various PAHs. Its BOD5/COD ratio was less than 0.3 and belongs to recalcitrant, toxic wastewater. The results showed a touch-growth biofilms system was formed on the porous packing material and it played a key role in the decrease of toxicity of the influent. It could also improve the biodegradability of the wastewater.

Alemtuzumab (Campath) was successfully injected in 21 kidney transplant patients,7 islet transplant patients and 1 simultaneous kidney and islet transplant patient for either prevention or treatment of graft rejection.Prophylactic administration was successfully completed in all patients without discontinuation.Adverse events were not observed in 11 patients (38%),but hypertension in 18 patients (62%),shivering in 3 patients (10.3%),high fever in 3 patients (10.3%),and bronchospasm in 1 patient (3%),respectively.All complications alleviated after proper therapy.During the prophylactic administration of alemtuzumab, strict, timely and proper ward-management was needed.Care for lung, perineum, skin, diet and psychological nursing were necessary.Neither graft acute rejection nor graft chronic rejection episode occurred in all patients during 6 months to 2 years follow-up.Therefore,long term effects of Alamtuzumab and consequences of lymphocytopenia need further observation.

This study observed the protective effect of hypercapnic acidosis preconditioning on rabbit heart suffered from ischemia-reperfusion injury. Hypercapnic acidosis was established in animals with mechanical hypoventilation before ischemia-reperfusion. Thirty-two rabbits were randomly divided into 4 groups, with each having 8 animals in term of the degree of acidification: hypercapnic acidosis group A (group A), hypercapnic acidosis group B (group B), hypercapnic acidosis group C (group C), ischemia and reperfusion group (group IR). Animals in group IR were ventilated normally (tidal volume: 15 mL/kg, breathing rate 35 bpm). The PETCO(2) was maintained at the level of 40-50 mmHg for 30 min. Animals in groups A, B, C received low-frequency, low-volume ventilation to achieve hypercarbonic acidosis and the target levels of PETCO(2) were 75-85,65-75, 55-65 mmHg, respectively, with levels being maintained for 5 min. The animals then were ventilated normally to lower PETCO(2) to 40-50 mmHg. The left anterior branch artery of all the animals was ligated for 30 min and reperfused for 180 min. Then the infarct size was calculated. The cardiomyocytes were morphologically observed and ECG and hemodynamics were monitored on continuous basis. Acid-base balance was measured during procedure. Our results showed that the infarct size was (48.5+/-11.5)% of the risk area in the control group and (42.4+/-7.9)% in group C (P>0.05). Mean infarct size was significantly smaller in group B (34.5%+/-9.4%) (P<0.05 vs control group) and group A (31.0%+/-9.1%) (P<0.01 vs control group). It is concluded that HA-preconditioning can effectively protect the myocardium.

Objective To stuay CT findings of adrenal gland trauma(AGT).Methods The CT images of adrenal gland trauma which were found in 1712 patients who had emergency abdominal CT examinations for assessment of blunt force trauma were analyzed restrospectively. Results Among 1712 cases.we identified 29 patients(1.7%)with adrenal gland traumatic lesions.A total of 32 lesions were found.Twenty-six lesions were unilateral(23 right-sided,3 left-sided),and 3 cases were bilateral(6 lesions).Main CT findings were as followed:(1)Adrenal hematomas appeared as discrete round or oval masses expanding the adrenal gland in 22 patients with 25 lesions. The lesions were hyperdense or of homogeneous density in plain scan and did not enhance in three-phase contrast-enhanced dynamic scan. The splayed adrenal limbs around hematoma were enhanced significantly as eurvilinear structures.(2)Mild to moderate uniform swelling of gland was shown in 4 cases.(3)Diffuse irregular hemorrhage obliterating the gland was shown in 3 cases.Contrast extravasation was shown in 1 case, which was active bleeding from the broken adrenal gland proven by operation.Associated CT findings included strand-like hemorrhage of the periadrenal fat and posterior pararenal hemorrhage mimicking thickened diaphragmatic crus. The concurrent injuries of ipsilateral thorax or/and abdomen were found in 25 patients. Conclusion The AGT has typical CT findings.Familiarity with characteristic CT findings of adrenal trauma is essential for the radiologist to avoid misdiagnosis.

Objective To study the compliance of examinees, and effectiveness of colorectal distension with partially automated and individualized insufflation of air for dual-energy CT colonography. Methods Forty-six healthy adult volunteers without history of conditions affecting gastrointestinal motor function were enrolled in this study. One day before CT examination, volunteers were asked to orally administered 60 mL 4% diatrizoate meglumine five times for fecal tagging.Air was insufflated by using an inflator in a partially automated and individualized manner. The volunteers were initially asked to assume the right lateral decubitus position, then slowly turn to the supine position.Insufflation rate began at 1.5 L/min,and decreased to 0.5 L/min at later stage. The necessity and volume of air insufflation were decided according to effectiveness of colorectal distension on CT scout images,self-reported sensation of volunteers, and intestinal pressure.Dual-energy CT scanning was performed, and dual-energy blended images were acquired.Compliance of volunteers was statistically analyzed. The effectiveness of colorectal segments distension was statistically analyzed by using Kruskal-Wallis H test. Results No abdominal pain, bloating, nausea or vomiting were noted in the 46 volunteers. All volunteers easily accepted colorectal insufflation of air, with grade 1 compliance. The effectiveness of colorectal distension of grades 1,2,3 and 4 were 0%,2.1%,5.1% and 92.8%,respectively.The difference of effectiveness of colorectal segments distension had no statistical significance(χ2=6.19,P=0.288).The effectiveness of insufflation was poor in 6 colorectal segments, including 2 in sigmoid colon and 2 in rectum.Effectiveness of insufflation was suboptimal in 14 colorectal segments, including 4 in descending colon,4 in sigmoid colon, and 3 in rectum. Conclusion Compliance of examinees with partially automated and individualized insufflation of air for dual-energy CT colonography is excellent, with good effectiveness of colorectal distension.
