AIM:The polysaccharides of Hedyotis difusa Willd of different sources were extracted and its content and composition of the polysaccharide was analyzed. METHODS: The microwave was employed for the aqueous extract of Hedyotis difusa Willd and the content of total sugar was determined by phenol-sulfur test,the monosaccharides composition was determined by HPLC with pre-column derivatization. RESULTS: The polysaccharide obtained from the samples of Guangdong Province had the highest content.The analytic data showed that the composition of monosaccharides in hydrolytic polysaccharides of Hedyotis difusa Willd were mannose,glucose,galactose,arabinose and rhamnose,the average content of polysaccharides was 9.82%. CONCLUSION: The HPLC method with pre-column derivatization is appropriate for the analysis of monosaccharide composition of Hedyotis difusa Willd polysaccharides and the method is simple,quick and accurate.

Calcifying epithelial odontogenic tumor (CEOT) is a rare benign epithelial tumor of odontogenic origin. CEOT is a benign but a locally infiltrative tumor. CEOT has two clinical variants: intraosseous (central) CEOT and extraosseous (peripheral) CEOT. The peripheral type is rare. In this paper, we report two cases of CEOT. The diagnoses of the cases were verified by histopathology. This study aims to explore the clinical and imaging appearances of CEOT and improve the understanding of the disease.

Aim To study the effect of ZD7288 on synaptic transmission in the pathway from perforant pathway (PP) fibers to CA3 region in rat hippocampus. Methods The extracellular recording technique in vivo was used to record the CA3 region field potentials. High-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) with fluorescence detection was applied to measure the content of amino acids in hippocampal tissues. The effect of ZD7288 and CsCl on the amplitudes of population spike (PS) in CA3 region evoked by stimulation (0.5 Hz) of the perforant pathway (PP) fibers, and the content of amino acids in hippocampal tissue were observed. Results Microinjection of ZD7288 (20, 100 and 200 nmol)and CsCl (1,5 and 10 μmol) into CA3 region decreased the population spike (PS) amplitudes in a dosedependent manner. The inhibitory effects appeared at 5 min after microinjection and lasted at least 90 min.In those rats treated with ZD7288 (100 nmol), the contents of glutamate, aspartate, glycine and GABA decreased significantly as compared to those of saline control ( all P＜0.01, except P＜0.05 for that of glycine). A similar decrease in the contents of amino acids was observed when the rats were microinjected with CsCl (5 μmol). Conclusion ZD7288 could obviously inhibit synaptic transmission in the pathway from PP fibers to CA3 region in rat hippocampus, and this action of ZD7288 may be associated with altered contents of amino acids.

Host genes involved in lipid metabolism are differentially affected during the early stages of hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection.Here we demonstrate that artificial up-regulation of fatty acid biosynthesis has a positive effect on the replication of the HCV full-length replicon when cells were treated with nystatin.Conversely,the HCV RNA replication was decreased when fatty acid biosynthesis was inhibited with 25-hydroxycholesterol and PDMP(D-threo-1-phenyl-2-decanoylamino-3- morpholino-1-propanol).In agreement with these results,the expression level of GlcT-1(ceramide glucosyltransferase),a host glucosyltransferase in the first step of GSL (glycosphingolipid) biosynthesis,was found to be closely associated with the expression and replication of HCV RNA.On the other hand,the viral RNA can also activate GlcT-1 in the early stage of viral RNA transfection in vitro.To identify viral factors that are responsible for GlcT-1 activation,we constructed ten stable Vero cell lines that express individual HCV proteins.Based on the analyses of these cell lines and transient transfection assay of the GlcT-1 promoter regions,we conclude that HCV proteins,especially NS5A and NS5B,have positive effects on the expression of GlcT-1.It is possible that NS5A and NS5B stimulate transcription factor(s) to activate the expression of GlcT-1 by increasing its transcription level.

Objective In order to find out the properly corresponding solutions of stomatology doctors' profession exhaustion,we investigated and analyzed the current situations and the influential factors.The solutions would help stomatology doctors improve the working efficiency and the enthusiasm to job.Methods The survey was conducted using MBI-GS questionnaire.Results Among all the participants 52％ had a certain degree of emotional exhaustion,58％ had emotional exhaustion,61％ were cynic and had doubts about personal accomplishments.Females were even worse than the male in emotional exhaustion.Significant correlation was found between wage satisfaction and oral health care provider's emotions (P＜0.05) No significant relationship was seen between the marital status and different nature of the unit,and the score was not statistically significant (P＞0.05).No obvious difference wss observed in different professional titles.Concltsion In Hainan Area,the stomatology doctors have partly job burnout,according to these surveys,we now taking diversified and adjusted measures to make corrections and prevent the job burnout.

Aim To investigate the influence of Ramu-lus mori polysaccharides ( RMP) on blood glucose and anti-oxidative effect in streptozotocin ( STZ )-induced diabetic mice .Methods Diabetic mice were induced by intraperitoneal injection with 120 mg? kg -1 STZ and were randomly divided into the following 5 groups with 20 animals per group: model group , valsartan group ( 20 mg? kg -1 ) , low-, medium-, high-dose (0.3,0.6,1.2 g? kg -1 ) of RMP groups.Other 20 normal mice were treated as normal control group .The mice were administered orally for 90 d.On 45 d of ad-ministration , the 24 h urine was collected through met-abolic cages for urine protein detection .Pathological changes of kidney tissues were observed through HE staining .The serum levels of urea nitrogen ( BUN) and creatinine ( Cr ) were detected by automatic biochemical analyzer; and the manganese superoxide dismutase (Mn-SOD), catalase(CAT), malonaldehyde(MDA) and mitochondrial respiratory chain complex Ⅰ,Ⅲac-tivity of kidney tissues were also determined .ELISA method was used to detect ROS content in renal cortex . The SIRT1 , FOXO1 and NF-κB protein expressions were analyzed by Western blot .Results Compared with model group, the FBG, microalbuminuria, BUN and Cr were decreased by RMP medication ( P <0.05).The activities of Mn-SOD, CAT and mitochon-drial respiratory chain complex Ⅰ,Ⅲ in RMP groups were enhanced , while MDA and ROS levels were re-duced. Moreover, the expressions of SIRT1 and FOXO1 were up-regulated by RMP , the expression of NF-κB was down-regulated ( P<0.05) .Conclusion RMP exerts renal protective effect through up-regula-ting the expressions of SIRT1 and FOXO1 in renal cor-tex , which may relate to the improvement of anti-oxida-tive capability .

Objective To evaluate the clinical value of artificial hydrothorax combined with one-lung ventilation to aid ablation treatment of liver carcinoma in the hepatic dome.Methods Twenty-one patients with liver carcinoma located in the hepatic dome and affected by the lung gas were enrolled.Double lumen endobronchial intubation anesthesia was used and thoracical tube was used to apply artificial pleural effusion.The lesions'ultrasound image were recorded for the patients without artificial hydrothorax,or with artificial hydrothorax only and artificial hydrothorax combined with one-lung ventilation.Ultrasound images were reviewed and scored as 1-5 according to the clarity and completeness of the lesion.Ablation efficacy and adverse reactions were recorded in the follow-up.Results Twenty-one patients were successfully applied artificial hydrothorax and one lung ventilation.The average normal saline used for artificial hydrothorax were (738± 260)ml.The ultrasound score for not using artificial hydrothorax,using artificial hydrothorax only and artificial hydrothorax combined with one lung ventilation were 1.13 ± 0.35 (1-2),3.00 ± 0.85 (2-5) and 4.53 ± 0.64(3-5),respectively,statistical difference was found between each method(P ＜0.05).Artificial hydrothorax combined with one-lung ventilation had much higher ultrasound score than the other 2 methods.No complication related to artificial hydrothorax or one-lung ventilation was found.CT/MRI at one month after ablation showed that all the lesions were completely ablated.In the follow-up for 2-14 months on average,1 case of local tumor progression and 1 case of intrahapetic relapse were found.Conclusions Artificial hydrothorax combine one-lung ventilation could effectively enhance ultrasound image for the lesions in the dome whose acoustic window was affected by lung gas.

Objective　To analyze the therapeutic effects of phacoemulsification with intraocular lens in several kinds of cataract.Methods　The surgery was performed under topical anesthesia on 672 eyes of 546 patients with senile ,complicated ,congenital and traumatic cataracts through different incision.Results　Postoperatively, the visual acuities with spherical correction or without correction were 0.5 or better in 83.0%, 88.9% of the eyes three hours later and in one day; and 1.0 or better in 27.2%, 28.7% in one week and one month. The mean postoperative astigmatism was all under +1.0D which was not found preoperatively in only 35 patients. There was no significant difference of the visual acuities between every two kinds of different cataract.Conclusion　The phacoemulcification with intraocular lens implantation can be widely used in treating different kinds of cataract.
