In order to improve the clinical efficacy of the umbilicus fumigation method, the ancient literature with the heat control of umbilicus fumigation method involved is collected extensively and analyzed systematically, and the heat control, precautions and contraindications of this method are discussed. In association with the cases and the present clinical experience, the main factors to the heat control are introduced, such as preparation of doughnuts, filling quantity, size of moxa cone and numbers of moxa cones so that the clinical application of the umbilicus fumigation method can be promoted and enhanced.

International Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine 2015;(3):213-216
Objective To investigate the effects ofLiuwei-Dihuang Pills combined with Ginkgo Biloba Leaves Extract Tablets on diabetic complications in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). Methods Seventy-eight patients with T2DM were randomized into a TCM treatment group and a conventional treatment group by random number table method, 39 in each group. The patients in the conventional treatment group were regularly using antihyperglycemic drugs or insulin. On the basis of conventional treatment group, the patients in the TCM treatment group were additionally treated withLiuwei-Dihuang Pills and Ginkgo Biloba Leaves Extract Tablets. Intima-media thickness (IMT) of internal carotid artery, vibration perception threshold (VPT) and diabetic retinopathy in both groups were detected before the treatment, 12 and 36 months after the treatment. Results The VPT in the left foot 12 months after the treatment in the TCM treatment group were significantly lower than that in the conventional treatment group (13.98 ±4.38 Vvs. 18.70 ±2.43 V;t=2.764, P=0.008). IMT of internal carotid artery (left: 0.81 ± 0.16 mmvs.0.70 ± 0.10 mm,t=3.120,P=0.003; right: 0.81 ± 0.17 mmvs. 0.73 ± 0.12 mm,t=2.286,P=0.026), VPT (left foot: 14.82 ± 6.45 Vvs. 20.63 ± 9.75 V,t=2.714, P=0.009; right foot: 16.73 ± 7.10 Vvs. 20.73 ± 10.35 V,t=2.001,P=0.048) and incidence of diabetic retinopathy (35.9%vs. 53.8%;χ2=5.804,P=0.016) 36 months after the treatment in the TCM treatment group were significantly lower than those in the conventional treatment group.ConclusionsLiuwei-Dihuang Pills combined with Ginkgo Biloba Leaves Extract Tablets can effectively reduce the progression of diabetic complications in patients with T2DM.

Objective To observe changes of the structure and function of microvessels during the formation and development of the rat cerebral glioma with steady-state susceptibility contrast-enhanced MR imaging. Methods A total of 30 bearing-tumor rats were divided into 3 groups (1-week group, 2-week group and 3-week group) and underwent MR examination. Blood volime (BV) and vessel size index (VSI_(MRI)) of peripheral tumor areas, central tumor areas and normal cerebral tissue in the opposite side were measured, and compared with histologic findings. Results With time of bearing-tumor increasing, BV of central tumor area present an up-and-down curve-like change, which related to the host blood vessel regression in tumor central area, the decreasing of blood vessel density and histopathologically obvious necrosis. BV of peripheral tumor areas increased because of active blood angiogenesis in this area, while VSI_(MRI) increased gradually, especially in the central tumor area. There was obviously correlation between the VSI_(MRI) and VSI _(histo) (P<0.01). Conclusion BV and VSI_(MRI) can exactly reflect the morphology and functional information of microcirculation of tumor during the growth and development of gliomas.

Objective To explore the of value steady-state susceptibility contrast-enhanced MRI (SSCE-MRI) in assessment of anti-angiogenesis therapy in rat C6 glioma. Methods Seventeen rats with the bearing-tumor were randomly divided into the therapy group (n=8) and the contrast group (n=9). Human-recombination endostatin (10 mg/kg) was injected to animals in therapy group, and saline of the same dose was injected to the contrast group for 7 days. Blood volume (BV) and vessel size index (VSI) were measured of tumors in peripheral, central and normal areas with MR pre- and post-therapy. Results After therapy of endostatin, the tumor volume was obviously different between therapy group and contrast group (t=5.26, P<0.05). BV and VSI_(MRI) of tumor decreased in both peripheral and central areas, particularly in the peripheral area (t=4.14, 3.66, all P<0.01). Conclusion Assessment of therapeutic effect of anti-angiogenesis in C6 glioma is feasible with SSCE-MRI, and it can reflect the changes of BV and VSI_(MRI) pre- and post-therapy.

International Journal of Surgery 2010;37(7):469-472
Tissue factor(TF)is the most important factor in the physiological coagulation process.TF also plays important roles in tumor growth, angiogenesis, invasion and metastasis by combining with factor VII.In recent years, targeted therapy for the TF has made remarkable progress, showing its significant inhibition of tumor tissue and metastasis.

Chinese Journal of Radiology 2010;44(1):65-69
Objective The study was to evaluate DWI for quantifying liver fibrosis. Methods A total of 12 volunteers, 47 patients who had chronic HBV or HCV hepatitis and underwent liver biopsy [Scheuer score for fibrosis(S) and inflammation(G)] were enrolled in this study. They were scanned using a 1.5 T MR unit with b value of 0,250,500,750, 1000 s/mm~2. ADCs at b_(250-1000) and b_(500-1000) were the average ADCs of b=250, 500, 750, 1000 s/mm~2 and b=500, 750, 1000 s/mm~2. The studied the correlation between Scbeuer scores and ADC values, and conducted Mann-Whitney U test and Logistic regression to evaluate ADC for prediction of fibrosis scores. Results The average ADCs were (1.41± 0.11),(1.37±0.09), (1.27±0.05), (1.26±0.04), (1.22±0.06) mm~2/s respectively from SO to S4, stage at b=750 s/mm~2 (F=18.31, P<0.01). With the increase of fibrosis score, the average ADC decreased gradually, the two were better negatively correlated at b_(250-1000)(r=-0.727, P<0.01) than other b values. Using b_(750) and the two combined b values, the found significantly lower ADCs in S2 or greater versus S1 or less and in S3 or greater versus S2 or less fibrosis (P<0.01). The best predictor for S2 or greater was b_(750) with the largest AUC of 0.909, sensitivity of 85.7%, and specificity of 100.0% (ADC ≤1.35×10~(-3) mm~2/s). The best predictor for S3 or greater was b_(250-1000) with the largest AUC of 0.864, sensitivity of 69.6%, and specificity of 95.8% (ADC≤1.53×10~(-3) mm~2/s). Conclusion DWI can be a good predictor for scoring liver fibrosis for S2 or S3 stage above, while b_(750) and the combined b values are suitable for evaluation.
