Objective To investigate the contamination level of environmental tobacco smoke (ETS) in the public places and workplaces in Dongcheng district of Beijing and identify the influencing factors for ETS exposure. Methods The contamination level of ETS in 14 public places and workplaces of Dongcheng district were monitored with passive sampler of vapor-phase nicotine during Apr.-Feb.,2004. Results Nicotine was detected from all monitor sites at the 14 locations. The lowest air nicotine concentration was detected in no smoking places and the highest one was detected in non-regulation places. There were many factors which were found to influence the indoor air nicotine concentration,including legislation,the number of smokers and the room space,etc. The most significant factor was found to be the numbers of smokers. Conclusion Exposure to ETS in the pubic places and workplaces has become a major pubic and occupational health issue at present.

Objective To study the renal protective effects of superfine powder of Rhodiola rosea in diabetic nephropathy (DN)rats.Methods The DN rats model was established by one side nephrectomy and intraperitoneal injection of streptozotocin(STZ).Then rats were randomly divided into 6 groups:sham-operation group,model group,Rhodiola rosea common powder groups(3 g/kg·d-1),and superfine powder of low,medium and high dose groups (0.75、1.5、3.0 g/kg·d 1),10 rats in each group.Rats were given the relevant drugs respectively for 7 weeks.Finally the levels of fasting blood glucose (FBG),serum total cholesterol (STC),blood urea nitrogen (BUN),creatinine (Cr) and urinary protein (Upro) were detected.The kidney tissue was taken for histopathological observation.Results Compared with DN modelgroup [FBG,STC,BUN,Cr and Upro was (24.78±3.66)mmol/L,(4.07±1.32)mmol/L,(22.36±2.54)mmol/L,(86.78±7.47) μmol/L,(50.23±6.82)mg respectively],the rats in DN model group after treatment with common and superfine powder (medium and high dose groups) of Rhodiola rosea appeared different levels of improvement ofFBG [(18.67±2.74) mmol/L,(17.21 ±3.17)mmol/L,(15.48±2.46) mmol/L],STC [(3.33±0.87) mmol/L,(3.42 ± 0.74) mmol/L,(3.21 ±0.92)mmol/L],BUN [(15.43±2.04)mmol/L,(16.56±1.85)mmol/L,(12.44±1.36)mmol/L],Cr [(66.17 ± 4.43) μmol/L,(68.42 ± 5.06) μmol/L,(61.33±4.21)μmol/L] and Upro [(37.47±5.64) mg、(35.66 ± 4.72) mg,(27.37± 3.92) mg],P＜ 0.05.The pathologic changes of kidney tissue were improved,too.Conclusion Rhodiola rosea has a good renal protective effect in rats with DN.Furthermore,the superfine powder is more effective than the common powder in renal protective effects.

Objective To explore the personality characteristics of abused children in order to reduce the incidence of child abuse.Methods Two hundred and ninty five middle school students were investigated with general questionnaire and Eysenck Personality Questionnaire of children. Eighty six students experiencing child abuse (CA) last year as study group and one hundred and ninety six non-abuse children as controls (NCA) were analyzed by means of Eysenck Personality Questionnaire of children.Results The score of neuroticism in CA group was significantly higher than that in the control group (55.62±10.60/52.65±10.98,t=-2.114 P=0.035). The score of lie in CA group was significantly lower than that in control group (42.21±9.87/46.04±9.20,t=3.184 P=0.002). On the impact of different sex, the psychoticism score of male was significantly higher than that in the control group(52.37±11.49/48.04±9.97,t=-2.227 P=0.028), and the lie score was significantly lower than that in control group(41.03±9.18/46.18±8.79,t=3.125 P=0.002).The scores of those in the female were not significant.Conclusions There is a close association between the unstable emotion and child abuse in children, so training emotional self-control and emotional expression of children might be a intervention strategy in the future. In addition, the frequency of lie in children is probably one of factors that determine whether children are abused or not.

Objective:To observe the clinical efficacy of point application with Da Huang (Rhizoma Rhei Cruda) powder at Shenque (CV 8) plus moxa-salt hot compress on the umbilicus for preventing gastrointestinal adverse reactions after chemotherapy for non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL).Methods:A total of 60 cases with NHL under chemotherapy were divided into two groups by hospitalization order,with 30 cases in each group.The control group was treated with routine nursing and the observation group was additionally given point application with Da Huang (Rhizoma Rhei Cruda) powder plus moxa-salt hot compress on the umbilicus,to compare the effect in preventing gastrointestinal adverse reactions after chemotherapy between the two groups.Results:The occurrence rates of constipation,nausea,vomiting and poor appetite on the second day and fifth day after chemotherapy were obviously lower in the observation group than those in the control group,with statistically significant differences between the two groups (all P＜0.05).Conclusion:The point application with Da Huang (Rhizoma Rhei Cruda) powder at Shenque (CV 8) plus maxa-salt hot compress on the umbilicus can produce more significant efficacy in preventing the gastrointestinal adverse reactions after chemotherapy for NHL than routine nursing.Moreover,it is simple and easy to be used and popularized.

OBJECTIVE:To study the compatible stability of Cefmenoxime for injection with Ganciclovir for injection in 0.9% Sodium chloride injection and 5% Glucose injection. METHODS:At room temperature,the appearance and pH of the mix-tures were observed after Cefmenoxime for injection was compatible with Ganciclovir for injection. HPLC method was adopted to determine the content of them. RESULTS:No significant change was noted for the mixture in appearance and pH value. The con-tent of ganciclovir was more than 98%,but that of cefmenoxime decreased to 75.33%. CONCLUSIONS:Cefmenoxime for injec-tion can not be mixed with Ganciclovir for injection in 0.9%Sodium chloride injection and 5%Glucose injection .

Objective To compare the analgesia effect of transversus abdominis plane(TAP) block and caudal block after radical surgery of Hirschsprung’s disease.Methods Sixty pediatric pa-tients,52 males,8 females,aged 1-3 yr,of ASA physical status Ⅰ or Ⅱ,scheduled for elective rad-ical surgery on Hirschsprung’s disease,were equally randomized into TAP block group(group TAP) and caudal block group (group CA).0.2% ropivacaine 1 ml/kg was used in both blocks.FLAAC scores were measured at 6,12,18 and 24 h after surgery.The requirement of sufentanil every 6 h, the first passage of flatus,the time of removing urine tube and the incidence of nausea and vomiting within 24 hours were recorded.Results Compared with group TAP,FLAAC scores and the require-ment of sufentanil were significantly decreased at 6 h after operation in group CA(P <0.05).FLAAC scores and the requirement of sufentanil were similar at 12,18 and 24 h in the two groups.The first passage of flatus,the time of removing urine tube in group TAP were significantly shorter than group CA(P < 0.05 ).The incidence of nausea and vomiting were not significantly different in the two groups.Conclusion Although both TAP block and caudal block can provide effective analgesia for the pediatric patients after radical surgery on Hirschsprung’s disease,caudal block provided superior anal-gesia at early stage after operation,however,TAP block is more beneficial for earlier recovery of bowl function.
