Objective To study the changes of iodine source and the nutritional status of iodine after termination of iodized salt supply in the areas with different water iodine concentrations in Shanxi province,in order to provide scientific bases for developing strategies on control and prevention of iodine deficiency disorders, and to study the cut-off value of water iodine level where iodized salt supply should be stopped. Methods In 2010 in Shanxi province,6 villages with 100% of non-iodized salt consumption rate were selected as the survey spots based on the iodine concentration in drinking water of 0-,50-,100-,150-,300-,≥500 μg/L.Villages'iodized salt supply was terminated thoroughly. In each village,20 children aged 8 to 10 were selected. At the same time, women of childbearing age 18 to 50 years old and adult men aged 18 to 60 were selected from the same families as the children.Diet surveys were conducted by the method of 3 days recall on all subjects.Drinking water samples, staple foods, supplementary foods and urinary samples of all subjects were collected and the iodine concentration was determined by arsenic-cerium catalytic spectrophotometry. Results ①In the villages of water iodine 25.9,70.6 μg/L,the medians urinary iodine of children, women and men were all ranged from 100 to 199 μg/L,which meant their iodine nutrition levels were appropriate. In the village of water iodine 109.0 μg/L,the medians urinary iodine of children, women and men were all ranged from 200 to 299 μg/L,which meant their iodine nutrition levels were more than appropriate. In the villages of water iodine 225.8,430.0,581.2 μg/L,the medians urinary iodine of children, women and men were all ≥ 300 μg/L,which meant their iodine nutrition levels were too high.②)In all the 6 villages, the intaking amount of iodine met and exceeded the standard recommended intake of dietary iodine by ICCIDD/UNICEF/WHO (8 to 10-year-old children ≥ 120 μg/d,women of childbearing age and adult men ≥ 150 μg/d).But in the village of water iodine 581.2 μg/L,the iodine intake was exceeded the daily maximum safe intake (children aged 8 to 10 ≤800 μg/d,women of childbearing age and adult man ≤ 1000 μg/d).③The amount of iodine ingestion from drinking water was increased with the water content of iodine. When water iodine exceeded 100 μg/L,the amount of iodine ingestion from drinking water was higher than from food intaking, and became a main resource of iodine in the human body. Conclusions In the counties of iodine concentration in drinking water above 100 μg/L in high iodine areas of Shanxi province, the water iodine becomes the most important source of iodine, and iodine nutritional level is more than appropriate or possible excess. It is recommended that in areas of high water iodine of Shanxi province, the standard cut-point of water iodine value is set to 100 μg/L.

Objective To study the changes and clinical significance of serum kalium, natrium, chlorine, calcium and glucose in children with febrile convulsion(FC).Methods Serum kalium, natrium, chlorine, calcium and glucose concentrations were measured in 41 children with FC(FC group),30 children with fever and without convulsion(fever group) and 30 normal children(normal group) by automatic biochemical detector. Results Serum kalium and calcium concentrations had no significant difference between FC group and fever group, but they were significantly lower than those of normal group(F=5.965,3.048 P0.05).Conclusions There are hyponatremia, hyperglycemia and lowered blood kalium and calcium in patients with FC.Hence, while treating the patient with FC,the disturbance of blood electrolytes and glucose need be corrected to avoid the recurrence of FC and the progressive injury of important organs such as brain.

Objective To investigate the effect of physical training on plasma N-terminal pro-brain natri- uretic peptide(NT-proBNP)levels in patients with chronic heart failure(CHF).Methods Eighty NYHAⅡ-ⅢCHF patients were randomly divided into a training group(n=42)and a control group(n=38).A 6-minute walk- ing test was performed within 24 hours after the patients were admitted. The 6-minute walking distance and plasma NT-proBNP levels were determined before and after 8 weeks of programmed physical training. The patients of both groups were treated with routine drugs for heart failure.6-minute walk training was only performed in the training group twice a day for 8 weeks. Results Physical training could significantly reduce plasma NT-proBNP levels and improve performance on the 6-minute walking test. Conclusions Physical training could significantly reduce plas- ma NT-proBNP levels and improve the motor function of patients with CHF,and could be helpful in delaying the de- velopment of CHF.

ObjectiveTo detect BAG1 expressions in digestive tract cancer by tissue microarray and to evaluate its clinical significance.MethodsTissue microarray of digestive tract cancer and normal tissues were analyzed by DAKO Envision system immunohistochemical staining for apoptosis related gene BAG-1 expression.ResultsThe positive rate of BAG-1 expression among esophagus cancer, gastric cancer and rectal cancer were higher than that of normal tissues respectively(P<0.01).ConclusionThere is an overexpression of BAG-1 in digestive tract cancer, which suggest that apoptosis related gene BAG-1 may be related to these cancer.

Objective To explore protective effect of Heme oxygenase-1(HO-1) on irradiation-induced endothelial cell apoptosis. Methods Human endothelial cell line EA.hy926 were administered with or without HO-1 activator Copp and/or HO-1 inhibitor Znpp, respectively. Then, cells were treated with or without 8 Gy radiation. The HO-1 protein expression of cells were assessed with Western blotting and apoptosis of cells treated with irradiation were evaluated with flow cytometry. Moreover, cytochrome C releasing into cytosol were also determined by Western blotting. Results In PBS+R group,HO-1 protein expression of EA.hy926 was low posterior to irradiation. When cells were preconditioned with Copp and/or Znpp, then recieved with 8Gy irradiation, the HO-1 protein expression of EA.hy926 increased significantly in comparision with the PBS+R group(P
