Objective To investigate the ability of the four-slice perfusion maps derived by multislice CT(MSCT)perfusion imaging (CTPI) to detect ischemic lesion in rabbit models with the middle cerebral artery occlusion(MCAO). Methods Sequential dynamic CT studies were performed at four slices in 2 control rabbits and another 8 with MCAO. The volume of critically ischemic lesions on CTPI maps at 1st,2nd and 3rd hour after operation and the volume of infarction measured by postmortem 2,3,5- triphenyltetrazolium chloride (TTC) staining were analyzed by analysis of variance with random blocks design and linear correlation. Results In 6 of 8 animals of the ischemia group, critically ischemia or infarction was visible on perfusion maps and TTC-staining,while appearing negative in 2 control rabbits. In four-slice CTPI maps, lesions were visualized in 2 of 4 slices at least. The results of analysis of variance demonstrated that the intergroup differences were discovered between 1st , 2nd and 3rd hour after operation, and between MTT map and other CTPI maps (P

Acute and chronic graft rejection are the major factors leading to graft non-function.There is an active expression of chemokines early after transplantation. They recruit T cells and antigen presenting cells selectively to the graft, leading to inflammatory reaction and finally to graft non-function.Accordingly,monitoring the expression status of chemokines and their receptors regularly may help to the diagnose rejection. To determine one or more chemokines or their receptors as the new targets for anti-rejection therapy will be of great clinical significance. This review focuses on the research progression in the above areas.

Objective: In order to improve the technology of Chinese medicine extraction, experiments were made with large pore size ultrafiltration (LPS UF) membranes in the process of Chinese medicine production, and the feasibility of replacing traditional alcohol sedimentation with LPS UF method in the production of compound Chinese medicine was also explored. Methods: The water extraction liquid of Shenbao Mixture with alcohol percolation extract was ultrafiltered. Icariin as index component was determined. Results: Component of Icariin was reserved as 90%, this technology was similar to alcohol extraction. Conclusion: The experiments on the extraction of “Shengbao” mixture show that the LPS UF membranes with MWCO above 100,000 were more effective in retaining the effective ingredients and removing the precipitates.

BACKGROUND: Autologous bone graft was always applied to repair bony cavity defect produced by benign bone tumor.OBJECTIVE: Taking autogenous bone graft for repairing bony cavity defect caused by bone tumor or tumor-like pathological change as control standard, to observe transplantation of deproteined bovine cancellous bone combined with autogenous red marrow in occluding the residual cavity and the density of newly formed bone.DESIGN: A randomized grouping design, controlled observation SETTING: Department of Orthopaedics, the 175 Hospital of Chinese PLA PARTICIPANTS:We recruited 175 cases of bony cavity defect who received treatment in the Department of Orthopaedics, the 175 Hospital of Chinese PLA from July 1993 to July 1998. They were randomly assigned into two groups: experimental group and control group. There were 63 cases treated in the experimental group. The average disease-suffering time was (6.2±2.1) months and bone defect was (136±30) mm3. There were 62 cases treated in the control group. The average disease-suffering time was (6.1±2.3)months, and bone defect was (133±37) mm3.METHODS: Deproteined bovine cancellous bone combined with autogenous red marrow was transplanted in the experimental group and autologous bone graft was applied in the control group. We curetted tumor completely, cauterized the wound with alcohol of 0.95 volume fraction, then curetted the area of cauterization to make it bled. Bone graft was applied. The quantity of implanted bone should be abundant, and disposed compactly. The X-ray films of the first week after operation were used as a standard for density of new bone growth. X-ray films were taken at the 3rd,6th and 8th months postoperatively, and the X-ray films of the eighth months after operation were used as a standard.MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: To compare the bone union in two groups with a standard of residual cavity occluding and density of bone growth.RESULTS: All patients were followed up for an average of 20 months. One case was lost six months after operation. And two cases were lost eighteen months after operation respectively in the experimental group and control group. After 8 months of operation, residual cavities of bone defect of 44 cases in experimental group and 46 cases in control group were disappeared. Palingenetic bone fused with left bone organization. Its density was the same as or higher than normal bone organization. Residual cavities of 12 cases in experimental group and 10 cases in control group were disappeared basically. The density of palingenetic bone was approximate to normal bone organization. To compare with autologous bone graft, deproteined bovine cancellous bone and an autogenous red marrow had an identical effect for repairing bony cavity defect.CONCLUSION: Bony cavity defect produced by benign bone tumor is often repaired by bone transplantation. To explore the substitutable grafting materials of autogenous bone in this study, a composite material composed of deproteined bovine cancellous bone and an autogenous red marrow (DBCAM) is applied to repair the bony cavity defect.

Objective To observe the effects of calcium cyanamide (Rongbao) on the histological and morphological changes of Oncomelania hupensis snails in order to explore its molluscicidal mechanisms. Methods The serial snails' slides were fixed after soaking in a concentration of Rongbao leached liquor at different time. The histological and morphological changes of the snails were compared among these slides. Results After soaking in the Rongbao leached liquor for 48 h,the mantle epithelia, respiratory epithelia of the gill, liver cells, and muscle cells of gastropods were injured seriously, which resulted in the death of the snails directly. The death rates of the snails were 96.70% and 100% after soaking in the Rongbao leached liquor for 48 h and 72 h,respectively. Conclusion Rongbao is an effective molluscicide by damaging the several snail tissues.
10.Cryopreservation of platelets after storage at normal temperature for 3 days and its clinical practice.
Journal of Experimental Hematology 2008;16(5):1196-1200
This study was purposed to investigate the feasibility of cryopreservation platelets under -80 degrees C after stored for 3 days at normal temperature and its clinical use. The platelet count, aggregation functions, adhesive ability, hypotonic shock reaction and CD62p expression of platelets preserved at normal temperature, cryopreserved on same day of collection and after storage for 3 days were detected, and possibility of using platelets cryopreserved after storage for 3 days in clinic was evaluated by comparison of contactable clinical cases. The results indicated that no significant differences in platelet count, hypotonic shock reaction and adhesive ability were found within 3 days of storage (p > 0.05); but differences in aggregation function and CD62p expression were significant (p < 0.05). As compared with platelets cryopreserved on same day of collection, the detected parameters such as platelet count, aggregation function, adhesive ability, hypotonic shock reaction, expression at storage for 3 days did not show significant differences (p > 0.015; CCI value in clinically use of them also did not show significant difference too (p > 0.05). It is concluded that the platelets after storage for 3 days can be cryopreserved, the efficiency of them in clinical use is not significant difference from platelets cryopreserved on same day of collection.
