International Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine 2013;(3):196-200
Objective To assess the efficacy of Danggui Yinzi versus western medicine for treating chronic urticaria. Methods CNKI,VIP,Wanfang data,EMbase, the citation databases of PubMed,web of science updated to August 2012 were electronically searched.Randomized controlled trials (RCTs) and Clinical controlled trial (CCTs) on Danggui Yinzi and western medicine for chronic urticaria were identified. The quality of included RCTs and CCTs was assessed, and the meta-analysis was conducted with Revman5.1 software.Funnel-plot was used to identify the publication bias and performed sensitivity analyses. Results 13 trails involving 1042 patients were included. The qualities of all these trails were relatively low. There was no trail set double blinding and allocation concealment.Meta-analysis indicated that compared with western medicine, the effective rate of Danggui Yinzi was superior to that of western medicine[OR=2.53,95%CI(1.92,3.34)].The funnel-plot demonstrated that there was publication bias. Conclusion The current evidence showed that Danggui Yinzi was superior to western medicine in efficacy, but we need more multicenter,randomized,double-blind trails to support it.

Objective To probe the mechanism of Warlker-256 cell apoptosis resulted from permanent and strong magnetic field. Method The amplification, rearrangement, deletion, transcription and expression of P53 were detected in 320 rats treated by magnetic field and 80 controls, using Dot Blot of DNA and RNA, Southern and Northern blot, and immunohistochemical technologies. Results P53 is wild type in Warlker-256 cells, no amplification, rearrangement and deletion were found in either magnetic treated group or control group. The transcription and expression of P53 is significantly enhanced in the treated group versus the control(P

Objective To observe the clinical efficacy ofZhibai Dihuang Decoction combined with endocrine therapy for kidney-yin deficiency type of advanced prostate cancer and its influence on patient symptoms of hot flashes. Methods Totally 72 cases of advanced prostate cancer patients were randomly divided into the combined group (36 cases) and the control group (36 cases). Patients in the control group were treated with endocrine therapy, while patients in the combined group were additionally treated byZhibai Dihuang Decoction. After 12 weeks of treatment, serum prostate specific antigen (PSA), the international prostate symptom score (I-PSS), the clinical symptoms score, the number of cases of hot flashes and safety index before and after treatment were observed. Results In the course of treatment, the control group and the combined group each had 1 case lost to follow up. PSA and I-PSS in the two groups significantly decreased after treatment (P<0.01). The total efficiency rate of TCM syndrome was 94.3% (33/35) in the combined group, while it was 57.1% (20/35) in the control group, with significant difference (P<0.01). After treatment, the incidence of hot flushes was reduced after treatment in the combined group, but the control group increased, with significant difference (P<0.01). No adverse reaction was found in the two groups.ConclusionZhibai Dihuang Decoction combined with endocrine therapy is more effective than endocrine therapy alone, which can reduce the symptoms of hot flashes.

Hyperhomocysteinemia is an important independent risk factor for cardio-cerebrovas- cular diseases.Studies in recent years have suggested that hyperhomocysteinemia is also an independent risk factor for vascular dementia and Alzheimer's disease.Mild vascular cognitive impairment is the prophase of vascular dementia.Mainly through the damage of vascular wall structure and its function, homocysteine may has correlation with mild vascular cognitive impairment.

Objective To investigate the effect of neutral amino acid on preventing Parkinson disease. Methods Mice were injected with L-Valine,L-Pheylalanine,D-Valine or L-Lysine before or after paraquat administration,by which prakinsonian mouse model was constructed. The paraquat immunoreactivity was observed within nigral cell bodies. Then neurodegeneration and ?-synuclein aggregation were observed by immunohistochemistry and Western blot. Results Paraquat immunoreactivity was abolished by the administration of L-Valine,L-Pheylalanine before paraquat exposure.Pre-treatment with these two amino acids also protected the paraquat-induced loss of nigrostriatal dopaminergic cells and formation of thioflavine S-positive aggregates. In contrast, paraquat-induced toxicity was unaffected if animals were injected with these two amino acids after paraquat exposure or pre-treated with D-Valine or L-Lysine.Conclusions L-type neutral amino acids such as L Valine and L-Pheylalanine can prevent paraquat-induced neurodegeneration and a synuclein pathology through a competitive inhibition mechanism with stereospecificity in the central nervous system (CNS).Neutral amino acid could protect the dopaminergic neuron in substantia nigra and may prevent Parkinson disease.

Chinese Journal of Tissue Engineering Research 2005;9(10):218-219
BACKGROUND: The osteoblastogenetic function of stem cell and local vasoformation is an important influencing factor in bone tissue engineering restoration.OBJECTIVE: To investigate the function of osteoblast induced, cultured and differentiated from mesenchymal stem cells(MSCs) and the expression of vascular endothelial growth factors(VEGF) in rabbits in itro.DESIGN: A single sample study and repetitive observational measurement by using cells as subjects SETTING: Department of histology and embryology in a university MATERIALS: The study was conducted in the Department of Histology and Embryology of Guangdong Medical College between March and December of 2002. The subjects were rabbits' MSCs.METHODS: The MSCs of newborn rabbits ere isolated and cultured. The cultured cells were induced to osteoblastogenesis with an osteo-inductive medium containing dexamethasone, ascorbic acid and β-glycerophosphate to observe the coloration of alkaline phosphates(ALP) and the formation of mineralized nodule in the cultured cells.MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: ① observation of cell morphology, ②identification of steoblastogenesis from the cultured cells ③ expression of VEGF in osteoblasts derived from the cultured cells RESULTS: fter MSCs osteo-inductive culture, cells had strong ALP staining with the formation of mineralized node, and the VEGF expression enhanced with the grey scale of 132.3 ± 4.6, which was significantly different from that of the VEGF expression in MSCs( 148.5 ± 5.3) ( P < 0.05).CONCLUSION: MSCs can be induced into osteoblasts with enhanced expression of VEGF, which might participate in the formation of endothelial cells.

Objective To analyze relationship between dual-source MDCT and pathology in renal cell carcinoma. Methods 129 patients with pathology were proved renal cell in our hospital from 2009 to 2012.According to the latest 2004 WHO pathological classification,CT features of renal carcinoma were compared with surgical and pathological results. Results The enhancement de-gree of lesions on contrast CT was correlated to the modal of renal malignant cells’ranking. There was no certain correlation be-tween integrity on the edge of the tumor in CT and pathological tumor capsular. The short-hair sign surrounding the margin of tumor strongly indicated renal capsule invasion (P <0.01).Agreement between CT-Robson staging and surgical-pathologic staging was good(Kappa=0.75).Conclusion The CT finding of renal cell carcinoma is correlated with tumor cell characteristic and inter-nal structure.Dual-source MDCT has important clinical value in the diagnosis of renal cell carcinoma.
