J6-1 cell line is the first leukemic cell line established in China. It is a multi-clone cell line infected with both EBV and HHV-6. Many cytokines, receptors and other genes were cloned from J6-1 cell line since its establishment 30 years ago. Valuable information on leukemic characteristics and functions were obtained from the studies on this cell line, which could be categorized into several research subjects. These achievements implied the unique research value of multi-clone cell lines. This comment focuses attention on research advance of the J6-1 leukemic cell line in 30 years, including heterogeneity and multi-cloning of J6-1 cells, survival mechanism of J6-1 cell populations, abnormal intercellalar communication of J6-1 cells with its significance and inspiration from J6-1 cell line.

Objective To study the ultrasonographic characteristics and significance of color Doppler ultrasound in the diagnose of soft tissue haematoma in the elderly.Methods Totally 45 elderly patients with soft tissue hematoma were retrospectively analyzed.Hematoma were divided into 3 types:traumatic hematoma,iatrogenic hematoma and spontaneous hematoma.The ultrasonographic features of hematoma including location,size,shape,internal echo,boundary and relationship with around muscles were detected by color Doppler ultrasound.Results The ultrasonographic diagnostic rate of soft tissue haematoma was 98.0％ (44/45) in this study.The haematomas in patients were found in the soft tissues of many body parts and the types were mainly iatrogenic and spontaneous haematomas (42.0％ and 40.0％ respectviely).The traumatic hematomas and iatrogenic hematomas could be found in the early stage by ultrasound due to the trauma history,and the sonograms were mainly equal and low echo (75.0％ and 80.0％ respectively).Traumatic hematoma was found between the disorder muscles,and partial ruptured muscle fibers could be detected within or around the hematoma.Iatrogenic hematoma was mainly located around the vessels,which were compressed to the deep part as compared with the vessel in contralateral.Spontaneous haematoma was not almost found in the early stage and could be easily ignored and misdiagnosed.Spontaneous hematoma was mainly located within muscle fibers or fatty layers,presented anechoic area with irregular hypoechoic between the muscles and had well-defined hyperechoic boundary with compressed muscles around it.Conclusions Color Doppler ultrasound has a reliable diagnosis of soft tissue haematoma with quick,noninvasive,convenient for follow-up advantages in the elderly.

Objective To evaluate the efficacy and safety of topiramate(TPM) as add - on drug treating infants with severe epilepsy. Methods We performed prospective label add - on study in 12 infants (aged 4 to 19 months) with sever seizures of different types. TPM was add - on one or more other baseline drugs and the efficacy was evaluated according to seizure type and frequency Results TPM initiated in a daily dose of 0.5 - 1 0 mg/kg, followed by a 1 - 2 weeks titration on the increase of 0 5 - 1.0 mg/kg up to a maximum daily dose of 4 - 10 mg/kg. After a mean period of 6 2 months (range 3- 13 montks), Total efficacy was 75 % and 50 % were controlled completely. Seizure frequency was unchanged in 3 patients (25 % ). As for seizure type, TPM was more effective in complex partial as compared with generalized tonic-conic seizures. Mild adverse events were present in 3 patients (25 %), represented hypersonia, fever and decreased speech. Conclusions TPM may be a available drug in infants with severe epilepsy. Liuwei-Dihuang Pill is a famous medicine in the clinical practice of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), and it is important and interesting to explore its new clinical indications. This study is based on the data downloaded from the SinoMed by querying on term of Liuwei-Dihuang Pill. By applying the data slicing algo-rithm, we achieved outstanding symptoms associated with Liuwei-Dihuang Pill. Examining these symptoms, besides those which are widely known as common knowledge, some other potential symptoms are found. These potential symptoms are aphtha, (sexual) dysfunction, constipation, and heel pain which might be taken as new clinical indi-cations of Liuwei-Dihuang Pill.

Standards of commodity classes of Chinese materia medica is an important way to solve the "Lemons Problem" of traditional Chinese medicine market. Standards of commodity classes are also helpful to rebuild market mechanisms for "high price for good quality". The previous edition of commodity classes standards of Chinese materia medica was made 30 years ago. It is no longer adapted to the market demand. This article researched progress on standards of commodity classes of Chinese materia medica. It considered that biological activity is a better choice than chemical constituents for standards of commodity classes of Chinese materia medica. It is also considered that the key point to set standards of commodity classes is finding the influencing factors between "good quality" and "bad quality". The article also discussed the range of commodity classes of Chinese materia medica, and how to coordinate standards of pharmacopoeia and commodity classes. According to different demands, diversiform standards can be used in commodity classes of Chinese materia medica, but efficacy is considered the most important index of commodity standard. Decoction pieces can be included in standards of commodity classes of Chinese materia medica. The authors also formulated the standards of commodity classes of Notoginseng Radix as an example, and hope this study can make a positive and promotion effect on traditional Chinese medicine market related research.

Up to date, eight types of human herpes viruses have been identified, all of which are ubiquitous, and usually establish latent infection in the host after primary infection. Since most of the herpes viruses are maintained in an asymptomatic form, they are often neglected. However, under some circumstances, these herpes viruses can cause fatal or severe diseases. Furthermore, the association of herpes viruses with hematopoietic malignancies is attracting researchers' attention. With the extensive development of hematopoietic stem cell and organ transplantation, reports regarding transplantation failure and complication caused by infection of human herpes virus has been increasing. Cytokine storm was firstly suggested as the mechanism of graft-versus-host diseases. In recent years, which has also been applied in the pathogenesis research of inflammation, and is supposed to play an important role in severe virus infection. In this paper, through discussing the possible role of latent infection of human herpes virus in the failure or complication of bone marrow or hematopoietic stem cell transplantation, and in refractory leukemia, the function and significance of latent infection of human herpes virus and the cytokine storm it caused were investigated.

Relapse, which puzzled several generations of hematologists, is the bottle-neck of radical treatment for leukemias. The progress of Human Microbiome Project at the beginning of 21st century suggested that human body was a super-organism constituted by the core of human cells and symbiotic microorganisms. The elucidation and characterization of endogenous retrovirus and prion protein suggested the possible effects of co-evolutional microorganisms on human health. Recently, the elucidation of the roles of tunneling nanotubes in intercellular communication and transportation suggested a novel way for cellular communication and transport of oncogenic materials. The role and significance of in vivo cell fusion have been studied in more detail. On the other hand, donor cell leukemia was reported. All of these approaches provide novel insights for studying the mechanism of leukemia relapse. Based on previous work, the authors suggest the hypothesis: there are two possible mechanisms for the relapse of leukemias: the minimal residual disease (MRD) and intercellular transportation of oncogenic materials.

To discuss the effective method of decreasing the postoperative recurrence rate of recurrent pterygium.
●METHODS:Totally 126 cases (126 eyes) with recurrent pterygium were randomly divided into A group (56 cases) and B group ( 70 cases ). Group A was treated by pterygium conjunctive reverse transplantation combined with amniotic membrane transplantation, group B was treated by amniotic membrane transplantation. The followed-up time after surgery was 6-24mo.
●RESULTS:ln group A, postoperative 5-7d (average 5. 62± 1. 38d), cornea epithelium was repaired. ln group B, postoperative 7- 10d ( average 7. 38 ± 1. 12d), the corneal wound was healed. There was statistical significant difference between two groups (t = 4. 307,P<0. 05). Three cases recurrence were noted in A therapeutic group (56 cases), the recurrent rate was 5. 4%; Twelve cases recurrence were noted in B compared group (70 cases), the recurrent rate was 17. 1%. There was statistical significant difference between two groups(P<0. 05).
●CONCLUSlON: lt is suggested that pterygium conjunctive reverse transplantation combined with amniotic membrane transplantation is effective in the treatment of recurrent pterygium.

As pioneer of tumor stem cell research, leukemia stem cell research has not only important theoretical significance, but also clinical application potential. The survival and development of stem cells are directly impacted by their microenvironment. The research on leukemia stem cells and their microenvironment are now becoming a hot topic. The author presumes that stem cells are a population with heterogenecity and hierarchy; any single cell from the population is difficult to form a clone; the interaction between the leukemia stem cell and its microenvironment can be described by the concept of leukemia stem cell niche. In this article, the leukemia cell population with heterogenecity and hierarchy as well as leukemia stem cell niche were summarized and discussed.

Objective To summarize the diagnosis and treatment strategy of the retroperitoneal fibrosis(RPF)associated with hydronephrosis.Methods The clinical data of 26 RPF cases treated from Jan.2005 to Mar.2012 were analyzed retrospectively.Early symptoms mainly included lumbar,flank,abdominal pain,nausea and vomit.Retroperitoneal mass was found in 12(46.2％)cases by ultrasonography,while in 23(88.5％)cases by CT.Results Ureterolysis with intra-peritoneal transposition was underwent in 10 cases who were followed up for 6-25 months,and no relapse was found.Ureterocystostomy was underwent in 1 cases for difficulty in ureterolysis who was followed up for 45 months,and no relapse was found.D-J stent inter-ureter drainage was performed in 15 cases,all of whom had replaced the D-J stent discontinuously except that 2 cases had ceased replacement successfully,and all of the obstruction were relieved during the follow-up period for 16-84 months post-operatively.Conclusions Retroperitoneal mass can be found by CT of abdomen effectively.The therapeutics should depend on the pathological condition of the retroperitoneal mass.Obstruction can be relieved effectively by both ureterolysis with intraperitoneal transposition and D-J stent inter-ureter drainage and replacement.The complication occurred in the replacement of D-J can be relieved or eliminated by all kinds of measures.The unimpaired kidney drainage should be paid attention in the follow-up.
