Objective To investigate the protective effects of mild hypothermia on cells in the CA_1 region of the hippocampus in gerbils following global ischemia-reperfusion injury(IRI),and to explore their mechanism. Methods IRI models were established in 75 gerbils.Any changes in TUNEL positive cells and the expression of Bax and Cytochrome C were then observed in normothermic(N) ,hypothermic(H)and sham(S) groups through immu- nohistochemistry methods. Results In the H group(as compared with the N group)apoptotic cells in the CA_1 sub- field of the hippocampus significantly decreased. The expression of Bax and Cyt C at 3 h,6 h and 1 d were de- creased, and the expression fastigium was delayed. Conclusion Mild hypothermia can moderate and delay cell ap- optosis, and its mechanism might be related with reducing and delaying the expression of Bax and Cyt C released by mitochondria.

The relationship between C936T polymorphism at 3'-untranslated region of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) gene and diabetic nephropathy (DN) was analysed in 194 type 2 diabetic patients. The frequencies of genotype CC and allele C were significantly higher in DN group than those in non-DN group and control group. Allele C and genotype CC of VEGF may be a genetic marker susceptible to DN.

Library of China Academy of Traditional Chinese Medical Sciences has retained video data of the early 1980s,which were clinical experiences of the national-level experts of traditional Chinese medicine. To meet the research needs,to rescue the valuable film resources, and to expand continuing education programs,we took use of the hospital's research and LAN infrastructure, combined with multimedia technology, designed and built a “Chinese multimedia resource management platform”,in compliance with the idea of “base on Chinese medicine, focuse on clinical practice and respect for the classics.

This is to report the study of degradation of earthworm extracts prepared by wet superfine grinding in simulated gastrointestinal environment. Enzymatic reactions were terminated by adjusting the solution pH or using membrane bioreactor principle. Earthworm protein concentration change was detected by Bradford method, the degraded state of protein was described with SDS-PAGE technology, and the degraded state of small molecule substances was detected by HPLC. The results showed that earthworm protein degraded completely in artificial gastric juice. High molecular weight protein degraded greatly in artificial intestinal fluid, while low molecular weight protein was not significantly degraded. Small molecular substances degradation did not degrade in artificial gastric juice, while they degraded obviously in artificial intestinal fluid, there is even new small molecule substance appeared. Finally it is concluded that the substance that having therapeutic effects in vivo may be some degraded peptide, amino acid and stable small molecules existed in artificial intestinal fluid.

Chinese Acupuncture & Moxibustion 2014;34(10):987-990
The modern physicians have different views on acupoint combination and acupuncture-moxibustion prescription and confuse them in clinical practice. It is significant to clarify the conception, connotation and relationship between them so as to normalize the therapeutic program of acupuncture and moxibustion and promote the standardization of acupuncture and moxibustion. Through the collection of relevant literature and analysis on the differences in the understandings among physicians, the conception, connotation and relationship between acupoint combination and acupuncture-moxibustion prescription are summarized. It is viewed that the acupoint combination is based on TCM theory. Under the guide of acupoint selection, in combination of the characters of clinical practice and acupoint indications, two or more than two acupoints of the same function are combined to enhance the collaborative effects of acupoints so as to achieve specific efficacy and improve clinical efficacy. Regarding acupuncture-moxibustion prescription, on the basis of disorder and syndrome differentiation of patients, the concrete therapeutic program is put forward, including acupoint composition and therapeutic method. Acupoint combination is the basic element of acupuncture-moxibustion prescription. Acupuncture-moxibustion prescription is the specific application of acupoint combination.

OBJECTIVE To investigate the clinical distribution and drug resistance status of Stenotrophomonas maltophilia and provide clinical guidance for treatment.METHODS Sixty clinical isolates of S.maltophilia were identified with GNI+ cards of VITEK-32.Drug sensitivitiy were detected by Kirby-Bauer disc diffusion method. The data were analyzed by WHONET5.3 software.RESULTS Thirty-eight strains were isolated from sputum(63.3%).Infection caused by S.maltophilia mainly occurred at the departments of respiratory diseases,ICU,old cadre,et al.Sixty isolates of S.maltophilia were highly resistant to imipenem, aminoglycosides and most of ?-lactam antibiotic, but showed the lowest resistance rate(16.7%) to SMZ/TMP.Then resistance rate of S.maltophilia to minocycline,levofloxacin,cefoperazone/sulbactam,piperacillin/tazobactam,and ticarcillin/clavulanic acid was 18.3%,20.0%,21.7%,25.0% and 30.0%,respectively.CONCLUSIONS The drug resistance of S.maltophilia is extremely severe.Among different areas of china the drug resistance is obviously different.Treatment based on drug susceptibility test should be adapted as soon as possible.

Objective To analyze MRI manifestation of the neonatal purulent meningitis retrospectively, including conventional MRI and diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI),and to evaluate the value of MRI in early assessment of the neonatal purulent meningitis. Methods From Jul 2004 to Jul 2009,20 full-term newborns (14 male,6 female) from Shengjing hospital were included in this study, all of which were diagnosed as purulent meningitis.MRI and DWI examinations were performed within 72h after the diagnosis. Results (1) Among those 20 infants,19 infants (95%) had positive findings, including 7 cases of cerebral infarction,4 cases of subdural effusion,3 cases of encephalomalacia,1 case of hydrocephalus,1 case of ependymitis and 7 cases of intracranial hemorrhage.(2) Among the 7 cases of infarction,5 cases showed hypointensity on T1WI and hyperintensity on DWI and T2WI,but the other 2 cases only showed hyperintensity on DWI.Conclusion MRI can detect infarction and hemorrhage in the early stage of purulent meningitis. So MRI,especially DWI,is very important for the early diagnosis and evaluation of neonatal purulent meningitis.

OBJECTIVE: To determinate the catalpol contents in dried rehmannia root and Taohong Siwu Decoction containing rehmannia root with high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). METHODS: Catalpol was separated on a YWG-C18 column using water-acetonitrile (99.4:0.6) as mobile phase and detective wavelength at 210 nm. RESULTS: The linear curve of tested catalpol concentration within the range of 0.0536-5.3600 microg/microl was ideal (n=5, r=0.999 7). The average recovery rate of the dried rehmannia root and Taohong Siwu decoction was 98.7% (RSD=0.48%) and 98.2% (RSD=1.29%) respectively. CONCLUSION: HPLC method is accurate and valuable for the quality control of Radix Rehmanniae and Taohong Siwu Decoction.
