In traditional Chinese medicine,medical practice is combined with qi,which forms special qi-theory.Body fluid which includes blood and Jin-ye is the fluid structure of human being.Nutrient qi and defensive qi depend on these two kinds of body fluid.Defensive qi not only maintains physiological functions of Jin-ye,but also participates pathomechanism such as Jin-ye consumption,retention,etc.The identity of defensive qi and Jin-ye plays an important role in theory and clinic.

Objective To observe the initial therapy outcomes of Valproic acid for childhood absence epilepsy (CAE),and to assess its therapeutic reaction and short-term prognosis,and to investigate the risk factors for initial therapy failure.Methods From January 2010 to December 2015,absence seizures as key words were used to search CAE in the video-electroencephalogram(VEEG) database of Children's Hospital Affiliated to Nanjing Medical University.Sixty-seven children fulfilled the CAE diagnosis criteria of International League Against Epilepsy in 1989.These patients were separated into 2 groups based on the therapy outcome after 6 months,including seizure control failure group and seizure control group.The patients' clinical characteristics and VEEG characteristics were reviewed.The gender,age of seizure onset,a family history of epilepsy or febrile seizures (FS),consistent with 2005 Panayiotopoulos diagnostic criteria,and VEEG findings were analyzed to evaluate the predictive ability of independent variables and the relationship between these features and treatment outcomes by using a stepwise multivariate Logistic regression model.Results The age at seizure onset was (5.89 ± 2.91) years old,and follow up duration was 6 months.Approximately 23 cases (34.3％) of CAE patients had poor response.No statistical correlation was made for gender,age at onset,the occurrence of generalized tonic clonic seizures,and family history of FS or epilepsy between 2 groups (all P ＞0.05).Compared with seizure control group,patients of the seizure control failure group had significantly higher rates of focal epileptic discharge (87.0％ vs.6.8％),higher rates of intermittent photic stimulation (IPS) induced seizures (52.2％ vs.6.8 ％),fewer rates of occipital intermittent delta activity (8.7 ％ vs.77.3 ％),and fewer rates of patients met the new diagnostic criteria proposed by Panayiotopoulos in 2005 (8.7％ vs.88.6％) (all P ＜ 0.001).The presence of occipital intermittent rhythmic delta activity during wake stage and the interictal focal epileptiform discharges on VEEG during sleep stage were significantly associated with the therapy outcomes in a multivariable Logistic regression analysis (OR =133.714,P ＜ 0.05;OR =0.068,P ＜ 0.05).Conclusions The presence of focal epileptiform discharges,and a typical absence induced by IPS are important factors for first-drug treatment failures with CAE,and conversely the occipital intermittent rhythmic delta activities have a good efficacy.There is no statistical correlation between clinical characteristics and treatment outcomes.

Objective To observe the clinical therapeutic effects of BaDuanJin exercise on patients with scapulohumeral periarthritis.Methods 72 patients were randomly divided into therapeutic group and control group,with 36 cases in each group.The patients in control group were treated with electroacupuncture and those in therapeutic group were treated with electroacupuncture and BaDuanJin exercise for 4 weeks.Pain degree(VAS)and shoulder ROM(Melle Scores)were evaluated before therapy,2 weeks and 4 weeks after therapy.The patients were followed up for 3 months.Results The VAS scores and Melle scores of both groups after therapy(both at two weeks and four weeks)showed significant difference than those before thempy.The scores after 4 weeks therapy were better than those of 2 weeks therapy.The effects of therapeutic group after 3 months showed better result than controls,but without statistical difference(P>0.05).Conclusion BaDuanJin,as a mild exercise had favorable therapeutic effccts on patients with scapulohumeral periarthritis.

Objective To evaluate the utility of the Chinese version of the Edinburgh postnatal depression scale(EPDS)when being used in puerperas in Chengdu.Methods Following translation and back translation,the EPDS was commented by six experts,then a prospective cohort of 732 women completed the EPDS and the Beck depression inventory(BDI)three to fourteen days after siring birth.Rusuits The concordance rates of translation and back translation were all 100%;the content validity ratio of the EPDS was 0.9333;the Cronbaeh's alpha coefficient of the EPDS was 0.76,the cumulative variance contribution of the two factors was 44.979%,and the spearman correlation coefficient between the EPDS and BDI was 0.584,＜0.01.Conclusions The EPDS possesses good cknical pefformanee,is very concise,easy to read and understand and well accepted by mainland Chinese puerperas and researchers.It is a good instrument for screening for postnatal depression in puerperas of Chengdu.

Objective To observe the effects of misoprostol on the reduction of postpartum bleeding in cesarean section.Methods With oxytocin as control,the amount of bleeding during and two hours after cesarean section was observed.Results The mean amount of bleeding was (232.0±46.6) ml in misoprostol group and (385.0±74.7) ml in oxytocin group respectively.The difference between the two groups was significant (P＜0.01).Conclusion Misoprostol is more effective to improve uterin contraction than oxytocin and is better in the reduction of postpartum bleeding with safety and convenience.

BACKGROUND: Experiments have confirmed that there are integrin receptors on bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs), but it is still uncertain whether angiogenin-1(Ang-1) can promote survival of BMSCs and protest against its apoptosis via integrins. OBJECTIVE: To investigate the effect of human recombinant angiopoietin-1 on adhesion, vigour, anti-apoptosis of rat BMSCs and its mechanism of signal transduction. DESIGN, TIME AND SETTING: The cytological in vitro controlled study was performed at the Opening Laboratory, Zhongshan Hospital Affiliated to Xiamen University from January to October 2008. MATERIALS: A total of 40 clean Sprague Dawley rats were supplied by Shanghai Experimental Animal Center, Chinese Academy of Sciences. Human Ang-1 (R&D) was used in this study. METHODS: Combining density gradient centrifugation and adherence separation was used to separate, cultivate and identify rat BMSCs. At the third to sixth passages, BMSCs were used for this study. Various matrix was used to coat 24-well culture plates for 1 hour. Following washing, monoplast suspension was added. Seven groups were set up. Group 1 served as control, BMSCs were coated with phosphate buffered saline containing 0.1% bovine serum albumin. BMSCs in the groups 2, 3 and 4 were incubated with vitronectin, fibronectin and Ang-1. BMSCs in the groups 5, 6 and 7 were firstly incubated in ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid, ?1 antibody and RGD antibody for 10 minutes, and then placed in a 24-well plate, and coated with Ang-1. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: Adhesion, trypan blue staining method, MTT test, Hoechst staining and Annexin V/PI were used to measure biological effects of Ang-1 on adherence, activity and anti-apoptosis of BMSCs. Combined with integrin antibody and signal transduction blocker, the expression of phosphoserine/threonine protein kinase B (pAkt), total Akt, Bcl-2 and ?-actin was examined by western blotting. RESULTS: Rat BMSCs were successfully isolated. The purity of BMSCs was 98.3% using flow cytometry. This paper introduces the hardware of data acquisition system based on LabVIEW platform, i.e. the system for data acquisition and control. The system is composed of the units for signal selection, programmable magnification, filtration, restriction, and A/D and D/A conversion circuits. With the system, the following can be available including eight-channel low-frequency signals, eight options on programmable magnification, 1000Hz low-pass filter, 50Hz power-frequency trap, and A/D and D/A conversion.

Objective To investigate the feasibility and the short-term efficacy of laparoscopic surgery for the treatment of uterine malignant tumors. Methods Laparoscopic radical hysterectomy and pelvic lymphadenectomy was performed in 25 cases of cervical cancer and 24 cases of endometrial cancer from February 2003 to March 2005 in this hospital.Of the 49 cases,a selective paraaortic lymphadenectomy was carried out in 5 cases. Results All the operations were successfully performed under laparoscope except for 1 case of conversion to open surgery.The operating time was 190?45 min,the blood loss during operation was 172?99 ml,and the number of excised lymph nodes was 17?6.Surgical complications occurred in 8 cases(8/49,16%),including 1 case of bladder injury,1 case of internal iliac vein injury,3 cases of urinary retention,1 case of vesicovaginal fistula(VVF) at the 6 postoperative month,and 2 cases of lymphatic cyst.Follow-up observations were carried out for 1~12 months in 21 cases,12~24 months in 17 cases,and 24~27 months in 4 cases.No recurrence was seen.Conclusions Laparoscopic surgery for the treatment of uterine malignant tumors is safe and feasible and offers significant short-term effects.

Wavelet transforms are used in detecting ECG characteristic points recognition.The relationships between ECG characteristic points and the modulus maximum pairs of their wavelet transfoms are expounded.The application perspective of wavelet transforms to ECG characteristic points recognition is predicted through the analysis of the results.
