4.Healing Garden: A New Intervention for Autistic Children
Chinese Journal of Rehabilitation Theory and Practice 2013;19(2):189-192
Healing garden, as an auxiliary medical technology for autism, presents the characteristics of integrity, controllability, compatibility and nature, which make up for the inadequacy of the current indoor intervention therapy. By way of natural benefit, active support, environmental integration and integrated therapy, it completes stage progressive system intervention and promotes sustainable development in body and mind.

Objective To evaluate the application of three-dimensional (3D) scanning in the measurements and analyses of breast morphology changes that occur after breast augmentation. Methods Pre- and postoperative breast 3D images were obtained in 18 patients (36 breasts) undergoing augmentation mammaplasty by 3D scanning. All implants were round sillicone and planted under pectoral muscle. Average implant volume was 232.2 mL, and average projection was 3.46 cm. The number of implants in low profile implant group was 12( h < 3.0 cm), and 16 in moderate group ( 3.0 ≤ h < 4.0 cm), 8 in high group ( h ≥ 4.0 cm). The following parameters were measured by Geomagic 10.0: volume, projection, angle and distance of key landmarks, and symmetry degree. Results The increased volume of breast was corresponding with the implant volume (P >0.05). Postoperative breast projection was 12.9 %, less than expected projection (preoperative + implant projection). The values in low, moderate, and high profile group were 5.2 %, 15.1%, and 20.2 %,respectively. Conclusion 3D scanning is a quick, convenient, accurate and non-contact method for measurement of breast morphology, and it is promising in breast plastic surgery in the future.

0.05).It was revealed that all the patients followed up 3 to 6 months after treatment were free from complaints of the involved teeth, with nomal food intake and mastication. No abnormal adjacent tissues of dental roots were detected by imaging examination. Conclusion For the vital teeth, the similar clinical effect may be obtained by one-visit RCT and multi-visit RCT.
7.Ebola virus disease: a zoonotic disease with an extremely high fatality rate
China Tropical Medicine 2023;23(1):1-
Ebola virus disease (EVD) is a severe infectious disease caused by Ebola virus in humans and primates. The main clinical features are fever and bleeding. The disease was first identified in Zaire and Sudan in Africa in 1976. Since then, it has caused many large-scale epidemics in Africa. One of the largest and most complex Ebola outbreaks in history was the 2014-2016 outbreak in West Africa, which caused more cases and deaths than all previous outbreaks combined. As of 2022, about 35 000 EVD cases and 15 000 deaths have been reported. During the African pandemic, EVD also spread to other regions outside the African continent, such as the Americas and Europe, and became a public health issue of worldwide concern. In Africa, the re-emergence of the disease in Uganda and the Republic of Congo in 2022 has attracted much attention from the world. This article systematically summarizes the history, epidemiological distribution, route of infection, clinical symptoms, diagnosis, treatment, prevention and control of Ebola virus disease, so as to provide reference for relevant workers in China.

Objective: To observe the clinical efficacy of warm needling moxibustion plus spine subtle adjusting manipulation for cervical radiculopathy. Methods: A total of 70 patients with cervical radiculopathy were randomized into an observation group and a control group, with 35 cases in each group. The observation group was treated with warm needling moxibustion plus spine subtle adjusting manipulation, while the control group was treated with warm needling moxibustion alone. The treatments were performed three times a week, and for four weeks in total. The visual analog scale (VAS) was scored before and after treatment. And the clinical efficacy of the two groups was compared after treatment. Results: The total effective rate was 97.1% in the observation group, versus 88.6% in the control group. The difference between the two groups was statistically significant (P<0.05). After treatment, the VAS scores in both groups significantly decreased (P<0.01), and the score in the observation group was significantly lower than that in the control group (P<0.05). Conclusion: Warm needling moxibustion plus spine subtle adjusting manipulation has a better effect in the treatment of cervical radiculopathy than warm needling moxibustion alone.

ObjectiveTo evaluate the changes in the expression of purinergic P2X4 receptor (P2X4R) in spinal cord dorsal horn and dorsal root ganglion in a rat model of acute morphine tolerance or inflammatory pain.MethodsThirty male SD rats were randomly divided into 3 groups:normal saline group (group NS,n =5);acute morphine tolerance group (group M,n =5) and inflammatory pain group (group F,n =20).Inflammatory pain was induced by subcutaneous injection of 4% formalin 50 μl into the plantar surface of left hindpaw in group F.The animals received intrathecal morphine 10 μg ( 10 μl) once every 2 h for 6 times (T1-6) in group M,while the equal volume of normal saline was given instead in group NS.The rats were then sacrificed 2 h after the last time administration.Paw withdrawal latency (PWL) to a thermal nociceptive stimulus was measured at T1-6 in groups M and NS,or on day 4,7,10 and 14 after establishing the model of inflammatory pain in group F,The rats were sacrificed after measurement of PWL and spinal cord dorsal horn and dorsal root ganglion were removed to detect the expression of P2X4 R by immuno-histochemisty.ResultsCompared with the baseline value,PWL was significantly decreased on day 4-14 after intlammatory pain in group F,and PWL was significantly increased at T1-5,while no significant change was found at T6 in group M ( P > 0.05).Compared with group NS,the expression of P2X4 R was up-regulated in group M,and the expression of P2X4 R was up-regulated on day 4 after inflammatory pain, peaked on day 7 after inflammatory pain, and then was down-regulated gradually on day 10 and 14 after inflammatory pain in group F ( P < 0.01).ConclusionThe expression of purinergic P2Y4 R is up-regulated in spinal cord dorsal horn and dorsal root ganglion in rats with acute morphine tolerance or inflammatory pain, and the change may be related to the development of acute morphine tolerance or inflammatory pain.
