1.Effects of Xingnaojing Injection on the Expressions of the Protein of IL-1? and the mRNA in Rats with Intracerebral Hemorrhage

OBJECTIVE:To study the effects of Xingnaojing injection on the expressions of both the protein of IL-1? and the mRNA in the experiment intracerebral hemorrhage rats.METHODS:Referenced by Zou's method and Rosengerg method,rat intracerebral hemorrage model was established and the model rats were then divided into normal group,model group and Xingnaojing group.The pathological changes in all the groups were observed and the expressions of the protein of IL-1? and the mRNA were detected after medication.RESULTS:In Xingnaojing group as compared with model group,the cells arranged regularly,the edema degree was lessened,the inflammatory cells were less;the disorganization of plastiosome was less severe,synaptic structure was clearer.The expressions of both the protein of IL-1? and the mRNA were all lower than in the model group.CONCLUSION:Xingnaojing injection can relieve the cerebral edema and inhibit the expression of IL-1? of the brain tissue surrounding the hematoma in intracerebral hemorrhage rats.

3.Clinical application of cone-beam CT online correcting technology in volume modulated radiation therapy for nasopharyngeal carcinoma.

OBJECTIVE:
To investigate the clinical application value of cone-beam CT (CBCT) online correcting technology in volume modulated radiation therapy (VMRT) for nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC).
METHOD:
Fifty NPC patients applying head neck and shoulder thermoplastic body membrane fixing device were eligible for treatment VMRT, these patients would accept a couple of CBCT scanning by on board imager (OBI) in a fixed time each week after initial setup and after online correcting during the first three week for radiotherapy, CBCT images and DRR images constructed by CT simulation were carried out registration,which could calculate the setup errors of initial setup and after online correcting.
RESULT:
Fifty patients were accepted 150 scanning after initial setup and 150 scanning after online correcting respectively, the errors after initial setup were (-1.24 ± 1.25)mm in X direction, (1.19 ± 1.85)mm in Y direction, (1.49 ± 1.70) mm in Z direction. The setup errors after online correcting were (-0.13 ± 0.29)mm in X direction, (0.10 ± 0.47)mm in Y direction, (0.17 ± 0.36)mm in Z direction. The setup errors after online correcting were significantly lower than the errors after initial setup in X direction (P < 0.05), Y direction (P < 0.05), Z direction(P < 0.05). The M(PTV) value after online correcting were 0.46 mm, 0.53 mm and 0.59 mm in X, Y and Z directions respectively.
CONCLUSION
The use of CBCT online correcting technology can significantly reduce the setup errors of VMRT for NPC and improve the treatment effect.

4.Study on Complement and Activated Complement Factors in Peripheral Blood and Skin in Patients with Psoriasis

Objective To investigate the levels of complement and activated complement factors in peripheral blood and skin in patients with psoriasis and their significance in the development of psoriatic lesion.Methods Enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) and immuno turbidi metric analysis were used to determine the levels of C3d, sC5b-9, C3 and C4 in sera from 57 patients with psoriasis vulgaris.Immunohistochemistry was employed to assess in situ expression of SC5b-9 in lesional and non lesional skin of 37 patients.Results There was a significant decrease of C3 and C4, and increase of C3d and sC5b-9 in patients with psoriasis in comparison with those of normal controls (t=10.88~ 24.80, P<0.01).The levels of C3 and C4 were significantly lower, while the levels of C3d and sC5b-9 were significantly higher in progressive stage than those in static stage (t=4.55~ 6.77,P< 0.01).In situ expression of sC5b-9 was significantly higher in stratum corneum and dermo epidermal junction of lesional skin than that in non lesional skin and normal controls (χ2=62.90,45.45;P< 0.01).There was no significant difference of C5b-9 expression in stratum corneum and dermoepidermal junction of lesional skin between progressive and static stage.Conclusions There is significant correlation between the development of psoriatic lesion and local deposit of activated complement factors.

8.Hemostatic effect of carboxymethyl chitosan and its biosecurity properties

BACKGROUND:Carboxymethyl chitosan (CMCS),a chitin derivative,has a good application performance that makes it become a safe and effective hemostatic material.OBJECTIVE:To determine the hemostatic effect of CMCS and its biosecurity properties.METHODS:(1) CMCS powder was scattered on the caudal vein and liver wounds of Sprague-Dawley rats,and the hemostatic time was recorded as experimental group,while the time for natural haemostasis of the wound was recorded as control group.(2) CMCS powder was scattered on the tail,femoral artery and liver wounds of ICR mice,and the hemostatic time was recorded as experimental group,while the time for natural haemostasis of the wound was recorded as control group.(3) CMCS,Sodium dodecyl sulfate solution and distilled water were respectively applied on the skin of albino rabbits in a skin irritation test.(4) A delayed-type hypersensitivity test of CMCS was carried out by intradermal injection of CMCS in guinea pigs.(5) An intradermal irritation test was carried out by subcutaneous injection of normal saline containing CMCS and normal saline,respectively.Another intradermal irritation test was carried out by subcutaneous injection of the supernatant of CMCS olive oil extract and olive oil,respectively.RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:(1) Compared with the control group,the hemostatic time for caudal vein and liver wounds were significantly shortened in the Sprague-Dawley rats in the experimental group (P < 0.01).(2) Compared with the control group,the time of hemostasis on the tail,femoral artery and liver wounds was significantly shortened in the ICR mice in the experimental group (P < 0.05 or P < 0.01).(3) The CMCS had no irritation to the skin of albino rabbits and no allergic reaction to the skin of guinea pigs.To conclude,the CMCS has good hemostatic effect on the wound in Sprague-Dawley rats and ICR mice,and has no skin irritation,allergic reactions and intradermal irritation reactions in albino rabbits and guinea pigs,which is a relatively safe hemostatic material.
9.Dynamic observation on bone mineral density of unsexed rabbits with QCT

Objective: The purpose of this tudy was to dynamicly observe the weight and the bone mineral density (BMD) of the unsexed rabbits with a few self-made standardized phantoms. Methods:The eighteen healthy adult female rabbits were measured for their weight and BMD in preunsexed and postunsexed 5 months, 10 months with quantitative CT(QCT). Results:There were 61.1% of rabbits whose weight and BMD decreased after 5 months of the postunsexed and 100% of rabbits whose weight and BMD decreased after 10 months of the operation. Conclusion:QCT can be used to dynamicly observe curative effect of drugs in various periods as well,and it is a good method to study osteoporosis.
10.Synchronous 12-lead electrocardiogram analysis of normal Japanese white rabbits

Objective To observe the 12-lead ECG ( electrocardiogram ) characteristics of Japanese rabbits , and provide basic ECG data for cardiovascular disease research .Methods The 12-lead ECG and X-rays of 55 male Japanese rabbits were recorded in supine position after intraperitoneal injection of 20% urethane.Results ECG:① The 12-lead ECG characteristics of male Japanese rabbits were similar to humans .The rabbit heart rate was 265.5 ±36.8 beats/min, faster than that of humans .No arrhythmia was found in all the 55 rabbits.② The supine position average ECG axis was between 19 °to 250 °, varying a lot .③P wave:The shape of P wave was blunt round or a little bit sharp .P waves were all in accordance with the sinus P wave rules , which were more obvious in lead II , aVF and all chest leads .④ The PR interval was 0.063 ±0.007 s.⑤The QRS duration was 0.040 ±0.005 s.The main waves were mostly upward in leadsⅡ,Ⅲ, and aVF .The same as humans , the R/S ratios were increased by degrees in chest leads .⑥The ST segment was short, and was located in the equipotential line .⑦ The shapes of T wave were mostly round , partly had twin peaks .T waves were more obvious in leads Ⅱ,Ⅲ, aVR, and AVF and chest leads .⑧The QT interval was 0.142 ±0.015 s, and QTc was 0.306 ±0.034 s.In the X-rays, most heart shadows were in the center and right chest .Conclusions The normal values of 12-lead ECG characteristics of Japanese rabbits are obtained in this study , which are of certain application value in experimental studies of cardiovascular diseases .
