1.Immunomodulatory activity of cancer chemotherapy

In addition to kill tumor cells through direct cytotoxicity, the immunomodulatory activity is another facet of chemotherapy. The major molecular mechanisms of immunogenicity of cytotoxic drugs are elimination of CD_4~+ CD_(25)~+ regulatory T cells or Myeloid-Derived Suppressor Cells, and sensitization of tumor cells to immune effectors through modulation of death receptor expression. These studies provide scientific evidence for combinatorial treatments including vaccines and Traditional Chinese Medicine for cancer therapy.
2.Application of EST Data of Siderophore Regulation Protein-like Gene of Aspergillus oryzae RIB40

Objective: To acquire the new clear color phenotype of Aspergillus oryzae b y th e antisense strategy of siderophore regulation protein (SREP)-like gene. Method s: Construct the cDNA library of Aspergillus oryzae RIB40 and amplify the fr agme nt ac7336f from the every EST clone, which had high homology with SREP gene of o ther species, then construct the eukaryotic expression vector with SREP-like ge ne using antisense strategy. Results: The sequence of this SREP-like gene was a cquired, the vector was successfully constructed. Conclusion: The deduced amino acid sequence of SREP-like gene of Aspergillus oryzae indicated that there is t he high homology with those of SREP genes of Penicillium chrysogenum, Neur ospora crassa and Schizosaccharomyces pombe.

Objective To investigate the levels of p27kip1 and ki-67 of psoriatic lesions in patients with psoriasis vulgaris. Methods The expression of p27kip1 and ki-67 in psoriatic lesions was determined by immunohistochemistry. Results The level of p27kip1 expression was significantly lower in the plaque-form lesions of the patients with psoriasis than that in the normal controls(P 0.05). 4.EFFECTS OF EXOGENOUS ATP ON CELL PROLIFERATION AND CYTOSKELETAL STRUCTURES OF HUMAN STOMACH CARCINOMA CELLS (MGC-803)

This study was carried out to investigate the effects of ATP on cultured human stomach carcinoma MGC-803 cells. After ATP(0.16—0.23 mg/ml, 24—120 hrs)treatment, inhibition of cell growth rate was observed. The inhibition rate reached 80% after 96 hr exposure to ATP. At the same time, anti-tubulin immunofluorescent staining showed increase of organized microtubules (MT) in ATP-treated MGC-803 cells, in contrast with the poor MT immunofluorescence in control MGC-803 cells. By using rhodamie phalloidin combined staining, increased number of actin bundles, took the place of actin dots and patches which were seen in control MGC-803 cells. Immunofluorescent staining of fibronectin in ATP-treated MGC-803 cells was also increased evidently as compared with the control MGC-803 cells. Concomitant with the improvement of MT and stress fiber organization, the cell Concohas become more flattened. It appeared that the increase of MT and stress fibers was closely related to the recovery of cell morphology in ATP treated tumor cells. It is therefore concluded that ATP not only may inhibit tumor cell proliferation, but also may induce differentiation of cell morphology of tumor cells through its action on cytoskeletal structures.
5.EFFECTS OF ATP ON U937 CELL APOPTOSIS

Objective To study the mechanism of U937 cell (human histocytic lymphema) apoptosis induced by ATP. Methods ATP (0\^23?g/L) was added into U937 cell cultured medium as experiment group, no ATP adding group as the control. Using immunofluorescent cytochemistry method to demonstrat the expresses of Cx43, F\|actin, vinculin. Results ATP induced U937 cell to form apoptotic bodies. Expresses of Cx43, F\|actin, vinculin were increased in ATP treated U937 cells.Conclusion ATP could induce U937 cell apoptosis. Apoptotic bodies formed from ATP treated U937 cells was correlated closely with express of Cx43, F\|actin, vinculin, It indicats that Cx43, F\|actin, vinculin play important roles in U937 cell apoptosis induced by ATP.
6.Pathogenic bacteria distrtibution and drug resistance of 259 cases of urinary system infection

Objective To analyze the pathogen distribution and drug resistance in the patients with urinary system infection in our hospital so as to provide the basis for prevention and treatment of urinary system infection .Methods 259 strains of pathogenic bacteria cultured and isolated from the midstream urine were performed the bacteriologic identification and the drug susceptibility testing ,Escherichia coli and Klebsiella pneumoniae were performed the extend‐spectrum β‐lactamase (ESBLs) producing testing . Results Among 259 strains of bacteria ,187 strains 72 .2% (187/259) were Gram negative stains ,43 strains 16 .6% (43/259) were Gram positive stains and 29 strains 11 .20% (29/259) were fungi .Gram negative stains were dominated by Escherichia coli (139 strains) and Klebsiella pneumoniae (22 strains) .The detection rates of ESBLs‐producing Escherichia Coli and Klebsiella pneumoni‐ae were 55 .4% (77/139) and 45 .4% (10/22) .The drug susceptibility testing results showed that Gram negative stains were sus‐ceptible to both imipenem and meropenem (100% ) and Gram positive stains were susceptible to vancomycin ,teicoplanin and linezol‐id (100% ) .Conclusion Gram negative bacilli are the main infectious pathogens in urinary tract infection and Escherichia coli is the most common pathogen .No vancomycin‐resistant Gram positive cocci is found .Rationally selecting antibacterial drugs according to the drug susceptibility testing results has great significance in the therapy of urinary tract infection and the control of drug‐resistant bacterial strains .
7.Evaluation of multiple locus variable number tandem repeat analysis (15-locus set) in genotyping of Mycobacterium tuberculosis strains of the Beijing genotype

Objective To evaluate the application of multiple locus variable number tandem repeat analysis (MLVA, 15-locus set)for genotyping of Mycobacterium tuberculosis (MTB) strains of Beijing genotype. Methods Total 72 Beijing genotype MTB strains obtained from Beijing Thoracic Hospital were genotyped by MLVA (15-locus set). The results were compared with that generated from "gold standard"IS6110-RFLP. Results After genotyped by MLVA ( 15-locus set), 72 strains were grouped into 59 types,of which 53 were unique types. The Hunter-Gaston index (HGI) of MLVA ( 15-locus set) was 0.990. The loci QUB-11b, Mtub 21 and QUB-26 were polymorphic in selected Beijing genotype strains. Genotyping by IS6110-RFLP generated 69 types, of which 66 were unique types. The HGI of IS6110-RFLP was up to 0.999, and the MLVA (15-locus set) clustered strains could be further subdivided. Conclusion MLVA(15-locus set) showed better discriminatory ability in Beijing genotype MTB strains, though secondary typing of clustered strains by IS6110-RFLP is needed.
8.Clinical value of procalcitonin detection and blood culture in early diagnosis of blood stream infection

Objective To explore the clinical value of procalcitonin (PCT ) and blood culture in the united diagnosis of early blood stream infection .Methods The blood specimens of 625 patients were collected ,the serum level of PCT was detected by EL‐FA ,and the blood culture was accessed at the same time .23 cases of blood culture positive samples were received continuous detec‐tion of PCT ,and the results were analyzed .Results Positive rate of PCT was 41 .01% (0 .05 -2 .58 μg/L)in patients with blood culture negative results (negative group) ,and that in patients with blood culture positive results (positive group) was 80 .77%(0 .05-200 .00 μg/L) .The positive rate of PCT in positive group was significantly higher than negative group (χ2 =65 .12 ,P<0 .01) .Positive rates of PCT in patients with infection of Candida tropicalis ,kinds of bacteria ,Gram‐negative bacilli and Gram‐posi‐tive cocci were 100 .00% ,100 .00% ,92 .11% and 56 .81% ,respectively .Continuous detection of PCT in 23 patients with blood cul‐ture positive results showed that patients with gradually decreased PCT level suggested a good prognosis ,and patients whose PCT levels were higher than 10 μg/L and were maintained at high levels had poor prognosis .Conclusion Simultaneously blood culture and PCT detection was important to the early diagnosis and treatment of blood stream infection .
9.The effects of maxillary protraction therapy with rapid maxillary expansion on class Ⅲ malocclusion: A meta-analysis

Objective:To evaluate the effects of maxillary protraction with or without rapid maxillary expansion in the treatment of Class Ⅲ malocclusion by Meta-Analysis.Methods:The randomized controlled trail,quasi-randomized controlled trail and the clinical controlled trail about the treatment of Class Ⅲ malocclusion by protraction with or without expansion were searched in the database of Cochrane Library,Embase,PubMed,Medline,CBM,Wan Fang,CNKI,VIP.2 authors qualified and extracted the data independently.Then the Meta-analysis was performed by using the RevMan 5.3 software.Results:7 studies with 228 cases were included,114 cases were treated by maxillary protraction with expansion and the other 114 cases by maxillary protraction without expansion.The Meta-analysis showed that:there was no significant difference in SNA,SNB,ANB and SN-PP except ANS-Me,U1-NA,SN-MP.A favorable improvement of the sagittal relationship between maxillary and mandibular was observed by using protraction whether with expansion or not.The expansion did not shorten the course of treatment,but it lowered the inclination of upper incisors,resulting in more clockwise rotation of mandibular plane and increase of the facial vertical dimension.Conclusion:Maxillary protraction with rapid maxillary expansion can be used in the treatment of class Ⅲ malocclusion with incisor labioclination.
10.Correlationship between visuosaptial ability and air traffic management ability

Objective To explore the relationship between visuospatial abilities of the students ma-jor in air traffic management and their performances,and then provide theories of their vocational classified. Methods 104 healthy male college students were tested by the cognitive laterality battery (CLB),which included visuospatial tests and verbal-sequential tests.At the same time,their performances assessed by air traffic management stimulators.Results Subjects with higher scores achieved by operating on air traffic management stimulators have higher visuospatial abilities,which was confirmed by the visual spatial scores (A) ((0.183±0.094) vs (0.060±0.338), t=41.57, P=0.000) and cognitive laterality quotient (CLQ) ((0.087±0.108) vs (-0.096±0.101), t=43.14, P=0.000)).However,compared with others in lower scores group,their scores on the phonological tests (P) reduced ((0.096±0.081) vs (0.157±0.092), t=6.81, P=0.012) ) .Moreover,there were the significant positive correlation between their performance on air traffic management stimulators and A ( r=0.749, P<0.01) ,CLQ ( r=0.663, P<0.01) ,cognitive performance quotient (CPQ) ( r=0.394, P<0.01).Conclusion For air traffic management occupation,the higher visual spatial abilities were the base of having the higher performance.Thus the visuospatial abilities may be as a good index of selecting and vocational classified for air traffic management students.
