Objective To explore the psychological characteristics of cancer long-term survivors.Methods One hundred and fifty one cancer long-term survivors(survival time ≥5 years) were chosen for participation from Guangzhou and Shenzhen by the coin method in this study.The qualitative data of the patients'psychological characteristics were collected by individual interviews,and the patients'behavioral and psychological characteristics were measured by the Tumor Psychological Scale(TPS),the Cancer Coping Modes Questionnaire(CCMQ) and the Psychological Adjustment Scale for Cancer Patients(PASCP).The psychological characteristics of the 151 cancer long-term survivors were compared with the average level of cancer patients (over 557 patients).Quantitive data were analyzed by two independent samples't-test.Results (1) Most cancer long-term survivors knew their diagnosis in two weeks after they were diagnosed.The cancer long-term survivors were better in mentality and got more social supports.Most long-time survivors attributed their success to good psychological well-being and positive treatments.(2) The TPS scores of cancer long-term survivors group(1.99 ± 0.45,1.68 ± 0.51,1.33 ± 0.32,1.87 ± 0.44,1.78 ± 0.41 respectively) were lower than the scores of the average level of cancer patients (3.06 ±2.12,3.08 ± 2.03,2.86 ± 2.08,3.02 ± 2.06,2.98 ± 1.75 respectively) in the dimensions of personality,emotion,unconscious,cognition and the total average score.The differences were significant statistically(P ＜ 0.01).The CCMQ scores of cancer long-term survivors group were higher than the scores of the average level of cancer patients in the dimension of confrontation and catharses.In the dimensions of avoidance and suppression,resignation and fantasy,the scores of cancer long-term survivors group were lower than the scores of the average level of cancer patients.All the differences were significant statistically (P ＜ 0.05).The PASCP scores of cancer long-term survivors group were higher than the scores of the average level of cancer patients in the dimension of emotion/self-esteem,subjective feeling,interpersonal relationship/social life,the daily life and the other.The differences was significant statistically(P＜ 0.001).Conclusion There are common characteristics of cancer long-term survivors such as good mental health state,lower tumor psychological level,positive coping styles,getting better psychological adjustment.

Objective To make objective criteria for evaluation of conjunctival impression cytology(CIC)in early screening of vitamin A deficiency(VAD)in children.Methods The status of vitamin A in children aged 3～7 years old was evaluated with CIC method.In order to justify the judgemental criterion of CIC,the changes in CIC and the levels of serum vitamin A were studied.Results Goblet cells and normal epithelial cells could be found in grade 0～1 of CIC;only normal epithelial cells without Goblet cells could be seen in grade 2 of CIC,and only abnormal epithelial cells were identified in grade 3～5 of CIC.Along with the increasing degree of abnormalify of CIC,the levels of serum vitamin A decreased accordingly(r=-0.824,P

Objective To study the technology of loading trehalose into cytoplasm of human platelets before lyophilization,and to determine the optimal experimental conditions of pretreatment technology.Methods The curves of loading efficiency,the internal trehalose concentration versus incubated time,temperature,and external trehalose concentration were drawn up to screen the optimal loading parameters.Results The loading efficiency was linear to the incubated time(2 hours later) and incubated temperature(range from 30℃ to 40℃),respectively.The loading efficiency almost reached 60 percent when the platelets were incubated at 37℃ for 4h.The intracellular trehalose concentration was increased with the raise of the external trehalose concentration(

Objective To research the effects of treating hemoptysis due to bronehiectasis and bronchography of selective filling bronchus with meglumine diatrizoate-Yunnan Baiyo colloidal solution. Methods In 30 cases of recurrent hemoptysis due to bronchiectasis which had been diagnosed by clinic, chest photos and bronchofibroscopy, selective filling bronchus with meglumine diatrizoate-Yunnan Baiyao colloidal solution were done in 15 cases for treatment and bronchography { experiment group) , and only internal medicine were used in other 15 cases (comparison group) ,and all 30 cases were followed up for 5 years. Results 15 cases of selective bronchography of experiment group were all successful, and the effects of curing hemoptysis and relaxing the recurrence were better than comparison group { P < 0. 05).Conclusion Meglumine diatrizoate-Yunnan Baiyao colloidal solution is not only a effective medicine for treating hemoptysis due to bronchiectasis,but also a expectant contrast medium for bronchography,and has the practicality of research and development.

Objective To investigate the effect of clinical pathway on patients with tubal pregnancy under-went laparoscopic treatment .Methods 150 patients with tubal pregnancy undergoing laparoscopic treatment were randomly divided into pathway group and control group , 75 patients in each .The patients in the pathway group were given clinical pathway management , whilepatients in the control group were given conventional management .The in-dexes, such as patients'average hospitalization time, average treatment cost, satisfaction, and the rate of health knowl-edge awareness of the two groups were compared .Results The average hospitalization time and the average treat-ment costof the pathway group were significantly shorter and lower than those of the control group , with statisticalsig-nificance (p<0.05), and the rate of satisfaction and health knowledge awareness of the pathway group were signifi -cantly higher than those of the control group (p<0.05).Conclusion The clinical pathway in patients with tubal pregnancy treated with laparoscopyis worth to popularize in clinical application , because it may effectively shorten the hospitalization time , reduce the treatment cost and improve the rate of satisfaction and health knowledge awareness .

BACKGROUND: The clinical features and classification of various anomalous synkinetic movements related to ocular muscles caused by abnormal innervations have not been fully understood.OBJECTIVE: To report and analyze the clinical features of anomalous synkinetic movements related to ocular muscles caused by abnormal innervations, as well as to classify them according to the same neuromuscular nerves.DESIGN: A retrospective case analysis.SETTING: Department of Ophthalmology, the Affiliated Hospital of the Medical College of Qingdao University.PARTICIPANTS: The study was mainly conducted in the Department of Ophthalmology, the Affiliated Hospital of the Medical College of Qingdao University. A total of 836 cases of abnormal ocular movements were found from January 1997 to January 2002. Among them 67 cases of anomalous synkinetic movements were diagnosed.METHODS: All patients were inquired of case history and their ocular movements were examined. The anomalous synkinetic movements were found and classified into congenital and acquired. All cases were analyzed according to the same neuromuscular nerves, such as between branches of oculomotor nerve, oculomotor and abducens nerve, supranucleus and other anomalous synkinetic movements.lous synkinetic movements were determined by inquiring the history of observed.RESULTS: Sixty-seven anomalous synkinetic movements (8%) of 836 abnormal ocular movements were diagnosed; congenital anomalous synkinetic movements were the most common ones (88.06%) and were often seen in patients with Duane's syndrome. Anomalous synkinetic muscles occurred the most common between lateral and medial rectus, lateral rectus and levator palpebrae muscle (36.89% respectively) in congenital cases, and those occurred between inferior rectus and levator palpebrae muscle more commonly (30%) in acquired cases.CONCLUSION: Anomalous synkinetic movements related to ocular muscles are not infrequently seen. When we find paradoxical movements between ocular muscles, or between ocular muscles and other unrelated muscles, anomalous synkinetic movements should be considered.

BACKGROUND: The rehabilitative intervention accelerates the recombination and reconstruction of cerebral structure and function and then promotes the amelioration of function.OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the influence of early and late rehabilitative interventions on the motor function and activities of daily living (ADL) with neurologic deficit score (NDS), Fugl-Meyer assessment (FMA) and modified Barthel index in patients with cerebral infarction.DESIGN: A randomized controlled trial.SETTING: Department of Neurology, Qilu Hospital of Shandong University; Department of Rehabilitation, Jinan Great Wall Hospital; Department of Neurology, the Third People' s Hospital of Heze.PARTICIPANTS: Totally 216 inpatients with cerebral infarction (125 males and 91 females, aged 60-75 years), who were selected from Qilu Hospital of Shandong University, Jinan Great Wall Hospital and the Third People's Hospital of Heze from December 2000 to December 2003, were randomly divided into early rehabilitation group (n=108) and late rehabilitation group (n=108) after admission.INTERVENTIONS: In the early rehabilitation group, the patients began to receive rehabilitation at 48 hours to 14 days after the stability of vital signs and absence of the progress of neurological signs. In the late rehabilitation group, the patients began to receive rehabilitation at 15-30 days after attack. They were trained with Bobath method and motor relearning program, once a day, 45 minutes for each time, and 6 times every week.Before and 30 days after the rehabilitative treatment, the rehabilitation was evaluated with modified Barthel index (100 points as normal, 0-20 as extremely severe functional defect, 25-45 as severe functional defect, 50 -70 as moderate functional defect, 75-95 as mild functional defect), FMA (total score was 100 points, including the highest scores of upper and lower limb movement were 66 and 34 points respectively) and NDS (the highest and lowest scores were 45 and 0 point, 0-15 as mild, 16-30 as moderate, 31-45as severe).ter treatment.RESULTS: All the 216 patients with cerebral infarction were involved in obviously lower than that before treatment in both groups (P ＜ 0.01), lower in the early rehabilitation group than in the late rehabilitation group score at 30 days after treatment was obviously higher than that before treat ment in both groups (P ＜ 0.01), higher in the early rehabilitation group than in the late rehabilitation group [upper limb: (32.43±21.52), (26.69±19.79)dex: The modified Barthel index at 30 days after treatment was obviously higher than that before treatment in both groups (P ＜ 0.01), higher in the early rehabilitation group than in the late rehabilitation group [(54.23±30.33),(46.57±29.85) points, P ＜ 0.05].CONCLUSION: Both early and late rehabilitative interventions can obviously accelerate the recovery of neurological function, motor function and ADL, but the effect of early rehabilitative intervention is superior to that of the late one.

Objective To evaluate the effect of using serf-designed facial support in prone position for patients after vitrectomy and silicone oil tamponade. Methods 100 patients with vitrectomy and sili-cone oil tamponade were randomly divided into the experimental group and the control group with 50 pa-tients in each group. The self-designed facial support in prone position was used in the experimental group, while the routing nursing measure was used in the control group. The ocular adverse effect and re-lapse rate were compared between the two groups. Results The incidence rate of corneal edema, in-creased intraocular pressure and retinal redetachment in the experimental group was higher than those in the control group, the time of keeping position in the experimental group was longer than that in the con-trol group. Conclusions Self-designed facial support in prone position can decrease discomfort and pain caused by compulsive position, reduce the incidence of complications, improve retinal attachment and increase the successful rate for the patients with vitrectomy and silicone oil tamponade.

Objective To investigate the serum cystatin C (CysC) and urinary albumin excretion (mALB) joint detection in di‐agnosis of early diabetic nephropathy injury .Methods 120 cases of determination of CysC and microalbuminuria in type 2 diabetic patients and 40 healthy people and related clinical and biochemical parameters were measured ,and the various factors by correlation analysis ,the determination of differences in early renal damage in diabetes and healthy people .Results the early diabetic nephropa‐thy group ,diabetic nephropathy group serum cystatin C and urinary microalbumin is higher than the normal control group ,CysC and mALB level had significant difference ,the difference was statistically significant (P<0 .05) ,the mALB was positively correla‐ted with serum CysC levels (r=0 .662 ,P<0 .05) ,and no obvious correlation of serum Cr ,BUN levels and mALB .Conclusion trace albumin serum cystatin C and urine is reflecting early renal function injury sensitive and reliable index ,serum cystatin C com‐bined detection of urine micro albumin contributes to kidney disease early diagnosis ,treatment and prognosis judgement .

Objective To investigate the role of p38 MAPK in the trypsin-induced injury in human esophageal epithelial cells.Methods Primary cultured human esophageal epithelial cells were stimulated with trypsin (20,40,and 80 μg/ml) for4 hours,phosphorylation of p38 MAPK was evaluated by Western blotting.Primary cultured human esophageal epithelial cells were stimulated with trypsin (40 μg/ml) and treated with p38 MAPK inhibitor (SB203580,1 and 10 μmol/L) simultaneously.Four hours later,the cells were collected for analysis.Results Western blotting results revealed that stimulation with trypsin enhanced phosphorylation of p38 MAPK,indicating that trypsin activated p38 MAPK in esophageal epithelial cells.SB203580 treatment suppressed trypsin-induced expression of pro-inflammatory cytokines including interleukin-8 (IL-8),cyclooxygenase 2 (COX2),and tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNFcα).Finally,SB203580 treatment suppressed trypsin-induced upregulation of protein expression of inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS),and subsequently reduced nitric oxide (NO) levels.Conclusions The regulation of p38 MAPK was involved in the trypsin-induced injury in esophageal epithelial cells.
