A new minimally invasive gallbladder-preserving operation has emerged for the treatment of gallbladder stones, but fundamentally it is a replica of the previous gallbladder preservation method. The gallbladder aids in digestion but is not essential for life. Its function should not be exaggerated and should not instigate trivial reasons for its preservation. Most patients undergoing cholecystectomy maintain a good quality of life. The causes, mechanisms, and prevention of gallstone formation remains mysterious,so a high recurrence rate after gallbladder-preserving operation is difficult to avoid.A full cholecystectomy can avoid recurrence complications and the benefits outweigh the risks.A discussion of the benefits and complications must be initiated to evaluate both treatment modalities for gallstones.

Objective To study the impact of imported filariasis cases on the elimination program in different areas of Shandong Province. Methods Dezhou was selected as former low endemic area and Yicheng as former high endemic area. Blood examination was carried out for both mobile population and local people for microfilariae(Mf). Mosquitoes were caught in field and dissected to count the ratio of those having laid eggs and the natural filarial infection rate. Mosquitoes reared at different temperatures were fed with Mf-positive blood and dissected after certain time period to observe the development of the larvae. The vectorial capacity and case transmission quantity were calculated and compared with those from different areas. Results The Mf positive rate of inflow population was 3.18% in average. No case was detected from 9 411 local residents after blood exam in Dezhou while 2 out of 692 local residents were found Mf positive in Yicheng. Mosquitoes'natural infection rate was 3.81% but no third stage larva was found. The shortest time period needed for the larva to develop into an infective stage was 16 days in Dezhou and 11 days in Yicheng. The time period from blood meal to egg-laying on average was 4. 95 days in Dezhou and 4.33 days in Yicheng. The ratio of vectorial capacity and case transmission quantity was 1:4.41 and 1:5. 82 respectively in Dezhou and Yicheng. Conclusion Filarial transmission seems unlikely in Dezhou for its low vectorial capacity and low transmission quantity resulted from low and evidently fluctuating temperature in the north. A low level filarial transmission may be possible in former high-endemic area such as Yicheng if there are as many imported cases as in Dezhou.

Objective To study the changes of cerebral function and pathological morphology before and after the antiparasit-ic treatment with albendazole and praziquantel in patients with cerebral cysticercosis. Methods The data of EEG and neuroimag-ing of 412 patients with cerebral cysticercosis were retrospectively analyzed. Results Before the treatment, the mild abnormali-ty,moderate abnormality, and severe abnormality were observed in 40.53%,45.63% and 13.84% of the patients respectively, which mainly showed the diffuse or focal irregular slow waves,or epileptiform discharges found in the abnormal brain waves. CT/MRI manifestation could be divided into six types, including single sacculus type(23.59%),multiple sacculus type(44.42%), encephalitis type(13.59%),coexistence of macrocyst and sacculus type(4.85%),calcification type(2.18%),and mixed type (11.41%). After 3 courses of the treatment, the normal and improved EEGs were observed in 79.85%and 20.15%,respectively. CT/MRI showed the foci being all absorbed(77.18%),being most absorbed(20.63%),and being no changes(20.18%)which were calcified focus. When cerebral cysticercosis were in acute stage(the single and multiple sacculus type, encephalitis type, and macrocyst and sacculus coexistence type),the therapeutic effect was good;while in the mixed type, the therapeutic effect was relatively poor. If cysticercosis were in the calcification stage, the patients only needed the heteropathy. Conclusions In the pa-tients with cerebral cysticercosis,EEGs show the mild to severe abnormalities, and CT/MRI mainly shows the multiple sacculus type. After the treatment, the abnormal EEGs are gradually recovered and the low density foci can be all absorbed, but some calci-fied focus still exist in some patients.

To analyze the clinical, molecular genetic and biochemical characteristics of a family diagnosed with creatine deficiency syndrome (CDS) due to SLC6A8 gene mutation diagnosed in Department of Pediatrics, the First Affiliated Hospital of Xinxiang Medical University in September 2018.The boy was referred at the age of 13 for intermittent vomiting and symptoms were relieved after symptomatic treatment, 7 months later, the patient was diagnosed again. He ate less and constipated as an infant, and had intermittent vomiting and severe constipation from 12 years old.He could walk at the age of 1 year and 6 months, could speak his first word at 2 years old, and only spoke simple sentences at the diagnosis. He rarely communicated with his parents. His brother has severe intellectual deficiency and seizures. His mother has cognitive impairment and had repeated stillbirths and miscarriages. When visiting the doctor, his weight was 22 kg (< P3), height was 131 cm (< P3), and head circumference was 52 cm.Besides, he had severe mental retardation and sluggish expression, poor communication, broad forehead, musculoskeletal atrophy and arched foots. His brain magnetic resonance imaging showed mild enlargement of the lateral ventricles.Magnetic resonance spectroscopy showed normal signals in the bilateral hippocampuses. The boy′s exon sequencing related to intellectual deficiency revealed the hemizygous mutation of SLC6A8 gene c. 626(exon3)-c.627(exon3)delCT.His mother and brother were carriers of the variant gene, but his father and grandmother had no such mutation. The urinary creatine to creatinine ratio was elevated but guanidinoacetate was normal, it was further confirmed that CDS can be caused by the novel mutation c. 626(exon3)-c.627(exon3) delCT in SLC6A8.In clinical practice, boy with mental retardation of unknown origin and often have gastrointestinal symptoms, especially when feeding difficulties and growth retardation occur in infancy, the early diagnosis of CDS can be achieved by examination of urinary creatine to creatinine ratio and gene detection.

Chinese Journal of School Health 2023;44(12):1843-1847
Objective:
To investigate the effects of physical activity (PA) intensity and sedentary behavior (SB) on calcanues bone mineral density (BMD) in preschool children, so as to provide a basis for rationalizing the daily physical activity of preschool children to promote bone health.
Methods:
A total of 673 pre school children aged 3-6 years from nine kindergartens in Pingxiang City, Ganzhou City and Yingtan City of Jiangxi Province, were selected from September to December 2021 by using the whole stratified cluster random sampling method. The PA levels and SB were measured by using a three axis acceleration sensor, and left calcanues BMD was measured by an ultrasound bone densitometer. Multiple linear regression was used to explore the effects of changes in PA on calcanues BMD in pre school children of all ages.
Results:
Of the 673 preschoolers surveyed, 498 (74.0%) achieved an average of ≥60 min of moderate to vigorous physical activity (MVPA) per day, there were 265 boys (71.2%), and 233 girls ( 77.4 %). The difference between genders was not statistically significant ( χ 2=2.77, P >0.05). There was no statistically significant difference in the BMD test of the calcaneus bones of preschoolers by gender ( Z=0.42, P >0.05). The difference in BMD results of pre school children with 3, 4, 5 to 6 years was statistically significant ( H=2.65, P <0.05). Correlation analysis revealed a negative correlation between SB duration and calcaneus BMD ( r =-0.13), and a positive correlation between low intensity physical activity (LPA) duration, MVPA duration, and calcaneus BMD ( r =0.14, 0.25 ) ( P <0.05). Multivariate linear regression analysis showed that SB duration negatively correlated with calcaneus BMD, whereas LPA and MVPA duration positively correlated with calcaneus BMD ( P <0.05).
Conclusions
MVPA duration is positively correlated with the growth of BMD in the heel bone and negatively correlated with SB. The kindergartens can adjust their curricula according to the physical and mental developmental characteristics, gender and age differences of pre school children, increase the time of outdoor activities, and reduce the sedentary time to promote the bone health of young children.
