Radiation-induced skin injury refers to the acute and chronic skin damage caused when skin is exposed to radiation. Radiation-induced skin damage may be created by nuclear disaster, radiation accident, radiation therapy, occupational exposure and so on. Approximately 95% of patients receiving radiotherapy will eventually develop into radiation-induced dermatitis during or after the treatment. As a consequence, how to appropriately prevent and remedy radiation-induced skin injury is of great practical significance. According to traditional Chinese medicine, radiation-induced skin injury belongs to fire, heat and toxin, blocking Qi and blood, injuring the muscle surface, affecting the distribution of Qi, blood and body fluid in the body, and damaging the function of viscera. This paper summarizes the cognition and development of traditional Chinese medicine theory of radiation-induced skin injury, as well as the research progress of internal and external treatment of traditional Chinese medicine, so as to provide a basis for the research and treatment of radiation-induced skin injury with traditional Chinese medicine.

Aim To investigate the effect and mecha-nism of quercetin combined with cisplatin on prolifera-tion and apoptosis of human osteosarcoma cell line MG-63 . Methods MG-63 cells were treated with quercetin alone or combined with cisplatin. Cellular morphologic changes were observed under inverted phase contrast microscope. The effects of proliferation inhibition were assayed by CCK-8 method. The combination effect was judged through Chou-Talaly analysis. The apoptosis ra-tios of cells were analyzed by flow cytometry. The gene expression of Bcl-2 and caspase-3 was detected by RT-PCR assay. The protein expression of Bcl-2 and caspase-3 was measured by Western blot assay. Re-sults Quercetin alone or combined with cisplatin could inhibit the proliferation, but induce the apoptosis of MG-63 cells. Combination of quercetin and cisplatin revealed a synergistic effect on cell proliferation and apoptosis as it reduced the expression of Bcl-2 but en-hanced that of caspase-3 at both gene and protein lev-els. Conclusion Synergistic effect of quercetin com-bined with cisplatin on cell proliferation and apoptosis of MG-63 cells is possibly due to reduction of Bcl-2 and enhancement of caspase-3 expression.

OBJECTIVE:
To evaluate the validity of 99mTc-N(NOEt)2 imaging in nasopharyngeal carcinoma mice model compared with 99mTc-MIBI imaging.
METHOD:
Biodistribution of 99mTc-N(NOEt)2 were performed on Kunmin mice. Nasopharyngeal carcinoma BALb/c nude mice models were replicated by subcutaneous injection of CNE cells. After intravenous injection of 99mTc-N(NOEt)2 or 99mTc-MIBI images were acquired with SPECT, regions of interesting (ROI) were drawn to evaluate the uptake of 99mTc-N(NOEt)2 or 99mTc-MIBI in tumor imaging. Tumor to non-tumor ratios (T/N) were used as index of evaluation.
RESULT:
Biodistribution study indicated most of 99mTc-N(NOEt)2 was accumulated in liver, kidney, lung and heart. The T/N values had no significant difference between 99mTc-N(NOEt)2 and 99mTc-MIBI at 30 min post injection. The peak T/N value of 99mTc-N(NOEt)2 reached at 120 min post injection. The best time for imaging was 120 min post injection. The T/N ratio was significantly higher in the group of 99mTc-N(NOEt)2 than that of 99mTc-MIBI at 120 min.
CONCLUSION
99mTc-N(NOEt)2 can be used for nasopharyngeal carcinoma mice model imaging. The best time of imaging is 120 min. 99mTc-N(NOEt)2 is a potential imaging agent for nasopharyngeal carcinoma.
