Objective To identify the relationship among serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D[25(OH)D] level, chronic inflammation state and malnutrition in maintenance hemodialysis (MHD) patients. Methods The serum 25 (OH)D level of 119 patients on MHD was detected. All the patients were divided into three groups according to the serum 25(OH)D level. Vitamin D deficiency: 25(OH)D ≤ 15 ng/mL, vitamin D insufficiency: 15 ng/mL <25(OH)D ≤ 30 ng/mL, vitamin D normal: 25(OH)D > 30 ng/mL. Inflammatory factor and nutritive index were compared among the three groups. Result The average of serum 25 (OH)D level was 3.4~45.3 ng/mL (22.5~14.8 ng/mL), and the prevalence of 25 (OH)D deficiency and insufficiency was 88.2%. Significant differences existed in age, inflammatory factor (IL-6, TNF-α, CRP) and nutritive index (Alb, PA, SGA) between 25(OH)D deficiency, insufficiency groups and normal group (P<0.05). Conclusion The serum 25(OH)D level is possibly related to the malnutrition in MHD patients. It may inhibit chronic inflammation state , in which it can promote state of nutrition of MHD patients.

Objective To observe rosiglitazone(RSG) combined with insulin therapy in type 2 diabetes pa-tients with tuberculosis. Methods 66 cases with type 2 diabetes and tuberculosis used the conventional antitubercu-losis treatment, divided into insulin group(DM + INS) 33 cases, the treatment group (DM + INS + RSG) 33 with dy-namic observation of blood glucose, and the lesions of tuberculosis in sputum culture. Results DM + INS + RSG group at the same time as the conversion rate is higher than DM + INS group(X2 = 8.45, X2 = 6.11,X2 = 12.87, P<0.05), the lesions were closed and empty absorption were significantly different (X2 = 15.60, P < 0.05 ; X2 = 5.00, P< 0.05), DM + INS group before and after treatment did not change significantly. After treatment DM + INS + RSGgroup FPG, PPG and HbAlc levels lower than before treatment(P < 0.05~0.01 ) and DM + INS group with sig-nificant differences( P < 0.05~0.01 ). Conclusion The addition of rosiglitazone to insulin treatment results in sig-nificantly improvement in glycemic control in the type 2 diabetic patients.

Objective To analyze the relationship between serum levels of bone morphogenetic protein-2(BMP-2)and N-terminal middle molecular fragment of osteocalcin(N-MID)and postoperative hip joint dys-function in elderly patients with intertrochanteric fractures of the femur. Methods A total of 96 elderly pa-tients with intertrochanteric fractures of the femur who were treated in the hospital from February 2022 to June 2023 were selected.Based on the Harris score of postoperative hip joint function, they were grouped into a postoperative good group(n=67)and a postoperative poor group(n=29).Clinical data of all patients were collected, and serum levels of BMP-2 and N-MID were detected and compared.Spearman method was applied to analyze the relationship between serum BMP-2,N-MID levels and postoperative hip joint dysfunction in pa-tients.The influencing factors of postoperative hip joint dysfunction in patients were analyzed using Multivari-ate Logistic regression. The predictive value of serum BMP-2 and N-MID levels for postoperative hip joint dys-function in patients was analyzed using receiver operating characteristic(ROC)curve. Results There were obvious differences in Evans-Jensen classification of fractures, presence of postoperative complications,postop-erative internal fixation methods, and osteoporosis grading between the postoperative good group and the post-operative poor group(P<0.05).The serum levels of BMP-2 and N-MID in the postoperative poor group were greatly lower than those in the postoperative good group, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).The serum levels of BMP-2 and N-MID in elderly patients with intertrochanteric fractures of the femur were negatively correlated with postoperative hip joint function(r=-0.564,-0.638,P<0.05).Ev-ans-Jensen classification Ⅲ-Ⅴ,postoperative complications and osteoporosis grade 4-6 were all risk factors for postoperative hip joint dysfunction in elderly patients with intertrochanteric fractures of the femur(P<0.05),while elevated serum BMP-2 and N-MID levels were protective factors(P<0.05).The area under the curve(AUC)of single and combined detection of serum BMP-2,N-MID for postoperative hip joint dysfunc-tion in patients was 0.932,0.883,and 0.977,respectively,and the value of the combined detection was higher(Z combination-BMP-2=2.220,P=0.026;Z combination-N-NMID=3.162,P=0.002).Conclusion The serum levels of BMP-2 and N-MID in elderly patients with hip joint dysfunction after surgery for intertrochanteric fractures of the fe-mur are greatly reduced, and are negatively correlated with postoperative hip joint function. The combination of the two could better predict postoperative hip joint dysfunction in patients.

This experiment was designed to investigate the influence of two biomaterials, titanium oxide (Ti-O) and stainless steel (SS), on the cytokine expression of macrophage, and further, to evaluate their biocompatibility. After being co-cultured with Ti-O and SS for 72 h, the cell number and morphology of macrophages attached on materials were detected by fluorescent microscope and SEM. Nitride oxide (NO) and monocyte chemoattractant protein 1 (MCP-1) released by the macrophages co-cultured with different materials were also examined and compared. We found that the cell number of macrophages attached to Ti-O was smaller than that attached to SS. The levels of NO and MCP-1 released by the macrophages co-cultured with Ti-O were lower when compared with those released by macrophages co-cultured with SS. These results demonstrate that Ti-O has better biocompatibility than does SS.
