A sensitive method for the determination of inorganic mercury and total organomercury in chemical waste water by cold vapor generation-atomic fluorescence spectrometry (CVG-AFS) was proposed. Inorganic mercury was directly determined by CVG-AFS. Organomercury was oxidized by potassium persulfate to its inorganic form prior to analysis. The difference between the two data was the value of total organomercury. Parameters affecting the sensitity in the process for the determination of mercury had been studied and optimized. Detection limit of mercury chloride was 8.2 ng/L.

Objective To investigate the molecular mechanism how edaravone reduces cytotoxicity caused by hypoxia/reoxygenation-induced injury. Methods Ischemia model-hypoxia/ reoxygenation model which also called oxygen and glucose deprivation/reoxygenation model (OGD-R) was established.Cells were divided into control group,OGD-R group,OGD-R with edaravone of different concentration groups Cells of OGD-R model were pretreated with the appropriate concentration of edaravone or combine with the specific channel blockers LY294002 and MK2206 individually, the expression levels of ERK,AKT and Bcl-2 were detected with Western-blot,while the expression levels of BDNF and Bcl-2 mRNA detected with RT-PCR,the expression levels of BDNF protein detected with ELISIA,the levels of LDH releasing and Hoechst33258 staining used with homologue assay kit or regents. Results The pretreatment of cultured neurons with edaravone alleviated hypoxia/reoxygenation induced neuronal injury in a dose-dependent manner (LDH releasing reduced,Caspase-3 activity and ratio of nuclear pyknosis declined). The edaravone pretreatment did not increase significantly the p-ERK expression levels, but the amount of p AKT expression was significantly increased(P<0.01).Pretreatment of edaravone(10 μmol/L) remarkably reduced the LDH release and declined the ratio of nuclear pyknosis after reoxygenation (P<0.01),which was inhibited by MK2206.Compared to OGD-R,edaravone pretreatment markedly promoted BDNF and Bcl-2 mRNA expression at each time point, and the most pronounced effects occured at 8 h after OGDR.ELISIA analysis showed that BDNF protein level was significantly elevated after edaravone pretreatment at the same point.Western blot analysis indicted that edaravone pretreatment significantly enhanced Bcl-2 protein expression at 8 h after OGD-R,which was blocked by MK2206.Conclusions Edaravone may alleviate hypoxia/reoxygenation induced neuronal injury by enhancing BDNF and Bcl-2 expression and inhibiting Caspase-3 activity through activation of the PI3K/Akt pathway.

Objective To evaluate the value of mean platelet volume (MPV) in identifying the location of infarct at left circumflex artery (LCX) in patients with non-ST-elevation myocardial infarction (NSTEMI).Methods In this retrospective study,184 consecutive patients with NSTEMI were eligible to be enrolled from January 1,2009 to June 30,2011 and laboratory examinations including platelet count,B-type natriuretic peptide (BNP),troponins test (TnI),C-reactive protein and serum creatinine (SCr) were done. The demographics and detailed history of patients were documented. In addition, left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) test and coronary angiography to determine the culprit vessel implicating in infarction were carried out in all enrolled patients. The patients were categorized into LCX group and N-LCX group according to culprit vessel. Results Of 184 patients,68 patients were in LCX group and 116 patients had left anterior descending artery (LAD) lesion or right coronary artery (RCA) lesion.High percent of LCX infarction were found in patients with high MPV level and low BNP level, and in smokers. And lower proportion of those patients had previous percutaneous coronary artery intervention. The results showed that MPV was larger in patients with LCX infarction than that in patients with LAD or RCA.Receiver operating characteristic curve showed the area under curve was 0.75 (95% CI:0.675-0.826).An optimized cut off point at 9.15 fL of MPV showed 83.8% sensitivity and 63.8% specificity for prediction of LCX infarction.Multivariate analysis also showed that MPV was the only independent predictor of a LCX infarction in patients with NSTEMI [OR=1.32,(95% CI:1.031-1.688),P<0.05].Conclusions MPV was the only independent factor associated with LCX infarction in patients with NSTEMI.

【Objective】 To investigate the effect of AIDET communication mode in informing blood donors of reactive viral markers results. 【Methods】 Blood donors who came FOR COUNSELLING AFTER NOTIFICATION OF THEIR REACTIVE SCREENING TEST RESULTS from Jan 2018 to Sep 2021 were selected as the subjects. They were divided into two groups according to the blood donation time and notification mode: control group who were notified by a conventional mode(n=128), from Jan 2018 to Dec 2019, and the experimental group(n=92) who were notified by AIDET mode, from Jan 2020 to Sep 2021. The anxiety state and degree of satisfaction to the notification were compared between the two groups. 【Results】 After attending COUNSELLING, the anxiety level of the experimental group was significantly lower, while the degree of satisfaction to the notification was significantly higher than that of the control group (P<0.05). 【Conclusion】 AIDET communication mode established a standardized and effective communication channel and reduced the anxiety of blood donors WHEN NOTIFYING THE REACTIVE SCREENING TEST RESULTS. Moreover, it can enhance the trust and satisfaction between donors and medical staff as well as the quality of notification, which is of great significance to promote the healthy and continuous development of voluntary blood donation.

Chest trauma is one of the most common injuries. Venous thromboembolism (VTE) as a common complication of chest trauma seriously affects the quality of patients′ life and even leads to death. Although there are some consensus and guidelines on the prevention and treatment of VTE at home and abroad, the current literatures lack specificity considering the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of VTE in patients with chest trauma have their own characteristics, especially for those with blunt trauma. Accordingly, China Chest Injury Research Society and editorial board of Chinese Journal of Traumatology organized relevant domestic experts to jointly formulate the Chinese expert consensus on the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of chest trauma venous thromboembolism associated with chest trauma (2022 version). This consensus provides expert recommendations of different levels as academic guidance in terms of the characteristics, clinical manifestations, risk assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of chest trauma-related VTE, so as to offer a reference for clinical application.

Surgical innovation is an important part of surgical research and practice. The evaluation of surgical innovation through the stages is similar to those for drug development, but with important differences. The Idea, Development, Exploration, Assessment, and Long-term follow-up (IDEAL) Framework and Recommendations represent a new paradigm for the evaluation of surgical intervention and devices which was developed in 2009. The IDEAL is a five-stage framework involving the nature stages of surgical innovation, together with recommendations for surgical research pathway. The Framework and Recommendations were updated and published in 2019, which added a pre-IDEAL stage if necessary. The updated IDEAL also underlines the purpose, key question and ethical issues for each stage. In the first paper of IDEAL Framework and Recommendations series, we conducted a comprehensive introduction of IDEAL (e.g. the development, updates and application of IDEAL) to promote the dissemination and application of IDEAL in China.

Adherence to reporting guidelines contributes to report methodology and outcomes of research distinctly and transparently. There are some checklists with specific study types related to surgery on the EQUATOR Network’s website. However, the IDEAL framework focuses on stepwise evaluation of surgical innovation through all stages with some key elements, which those existing guidelines may not mention. This likely results in the inaccuracy in reporting in studies attempting to follow the IDEAL recommendations and suggests a pressing need for IDEAL reporting guidelines. Considering these limitations, the IDEAL developed the IDEAL reporting guidelines between October 2018 and May 2019. The paper aimed to provide interpretation of IDEAL reporting guideline, and promote its understanding and use among Chinese researchers.
