Objective To observe the effect of body-weight supported treadmill training (BWSTT) on the lower limb motor function of elderly hemiplegia patients with acute cerebral infarction using semi-quantitative analysis of regional cerebral blood flow (rCBF) through single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT). Methods Seven patients with cerebral infarction were given comprehensive rehabilitation therapy for 10 weeks in three stages: a baseline period of 2 weeks ( conventional rehabilitation therapy), an intervention period of 6 weeks ( conventional rehabilitation therapy plus BWSTT) and a withdrawal period of 2 weeks (conventional rehabilitation therapy). During the intervention period the exercise duration increased gradually from 15 to 30 minutes, once a day, 5 times a week, for 6 consecutive weeks. Dynamic changes in rCBF in the cortex were observed with SPECT before and after treat ment. Results During the baseline period there was no significant change in average MWS (maximum walking speed) or BBS ( Berg balance scale) scores. During the intervention period both scores improved significantly. During the withdrawal period there were some changes in MWS and BBS scores, but they were not significant. There was a significant change in average rCBF in the cortex after treatment compared with before. Conclusions BWSTT is effective for improving the walking speed and balance of elderly patients with acute cerebral infarction. There is a positive correlation between the recovery of lower limb motor function and changes in rCBF in the cortex.

Objective To analyze the ability of rheumatologistto read the magnetic resonance imag of sacroiliac joint of spondyloarthritis patients. Methods The questionnaire survey were conducted among rheumatologists and the answers of the questionnaires were analyzed by quantitative analysis. Results 66.9% (75/112) rheumatologist did not known how to choose the sequence of magnetic resonance imaging, and 55.4%(62/112) rheumatologist thought that bone marrow edema was very important for the diagnosis of spondyloarthritis, but only less than 10% rheumatologists thought that erosion and fat infiltration could also h elp to make the diagnosis of spondy-loarthritis.Conclusion It is very important for rheumatologists to receive training on the reading of magnetic resonance images of sacroiliac joint of spondyloarthritis patients.

Methods Forty Balb/c mice of 12-14 week old and 20-25 g weight were intranasally vaccinated by the vaccine, 4 mice were killed randomly by the weight on 0,2,4,6,8,10,12,14,16 and 18 weeks of immunization respectively, sera were gathered from the eyeball to measure IgG, its subclasses and IgE by routine ELISA. Results Levels of IgG, IgG2a and IgG2b in the sera of mice increased obviously on 2-18 weeks, reached the highest level on 10, 4 and 4 weeks respectively, the value was 0.095±0.033,0.022±0.001,0.023±0.003 respectively, as compared with the value on 0 week(0.030±0.013,0.012±0.004,0.013±0.004), the difference being statistically significant(q=2.95,4.87,2.81 respectively, P < 0.01 or P < 0.05); levels of IgG1, IgG3 and IgE in the sera of mice decreased remarkably on 2-18 weeks, came to the lowest level on 4,2,6 weeks respectively, the value was 0.031±0.004,0.136±0.002,0.114±0.002 respectively, as compared with the value on 0 week(0.192±0.007, 0.175±0.013,0.024±0.003), the difference being statistically significant (q =5.16,4.93,5.32 respectively, P < 0.01 or P < 0.05). Conclusion Helper T cell(TH) Ⅰ response is induced in mice by mixed recombinant of BCG-Em Ⅱ/3 and BCG-Em14-3-3 vaccine on early immunization.

Objective To observe the alteration of astrocyte and apoptosis in neonatal hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy(HIE).Me-thods The pathological brain specimens of 25 newborns who died of HIE were observed macroscopically and microscopically, included male 14 cases and female 11 cases. The immunochemistry staining with glial fibrillary acidic protein(GFAP)and in situ end terminal dexynucleotidy 1 transferase mediated deoxyuridine triphosphate-biotion nick and labeling(TUNEL)methods were used to observe the changes of astrocyte and the neurons apoptosis in HIE.The relationship between the change of astrocyte and the neurons apoptosis and the occurrence of HIE and course of disease were further synthetically analyzed. Results The brain specimens of 25 newborn HIE had apoptosis cells at the different level. The degree of apoptosis of cerebral neurons was severe in the cases of 24 h-6 d survival(P

Objective To understand pathological TDP-43 features in the central nervous systems of patients with clinically and autopsy confirmed motor neuron disease (MND).Methods The clinical and histopathological features of 4 cases with MND confirmed by autopsy were summarized; anti-ubiquitin (Ub) and anti-TDP-43 immunohistochemical staining were carried out on tissue of brains and spinal cords from 4 cases with MND and 3 control cases without history of neurological disorders. Results These 4 cases presented with typical clinical and histologic features of MND.Ub-positive inclusions were observed in brain and spinal cord from 3 cases with the Ub-positive inclusions of skein-round-and lewy body-like structures.Strong TDP-43 pathological staining in brain and spinal cord was identified in 2 cases with MND presented as neuronal and glial cytoplasmic inclusions with various shapes. The TDP-43 positive inclusions were widely distributed in the motor cortex of brain and the anterior horn of spinal cord.TDP-43 weak staining in the spinal cord tissue was observed in 1 case with MND.No Ub-and TDP-43 positive inclusions were found in 3 control cases. Conclusion There is widespread pathological TDP-43 expression in the central nervous system of MND.TDP-43 positive inclusions in MND have relatively high specificity. It is worth further study on their formation mechanism.

Microbiology 1992;0(04):-
In this study, nearly 200 endophytic bacteria were isolated from different part of Huperzia serrata, over 60 bacterium with clear antifungal activity were selected from those cultures.Among them, strain H-6 exhibited the highest antifungal activity which was strongly inhibits the growth of many plant pathogenic fungi such as Sclerotinia scleroliorum,Fusarium graminearumt,Sclerotinia libertiana,Phytophthora capsici Leonia and Sesame fusarium wilt.According to the characteristics of morphology, physiology and biochem- istry tests and the comparison of 16S rDNA sequence, the strain H-6 was similar to the Burkholderia. So strain H-6 was identified as Burkholderia sp.H-6.The results also showed that Burkholderia sp.H-6 was markedly different from Burkholderia cepacia that was applied widely in agriculture as antagonistic bacteria. The medium and culture conditions of the strain all were optimized by single factor and orthogonal experiments. In the investigation of the culture condition, growth was carried out in a basal medium(potato juice)and gradually supplemented with the various ingredients to be investigated. The major ingredients be- ing investigated included carbon sources and nitrogen sources. The optimal antifungal activity production condition is growth in a medium(potato juice with 2.5%mannitol and 0.1%NaNO3),initial pH 4.0 at 28℃.
