1.Designment and application of a novel device for microcirculation viviperception

The key technology of the device for the viviperception of the animal mesenteric microcirculation is to simulate the celiac environment in the device. The technical requirements of the device for microcirculation viviperception are that the observation box should be able to "keep warm, preserve moisture, continually perfuse, and fix the sample"; and the lighting should be "intense", "convergence", and "cool". After actual application, it was found that the newly designed and developed the device by research personnel of Wannan Medical College for the viviperception of the animal mesenteric microcirculation can meet the technical requirements, which is able to "keep warm, preserve moisture, continually perfuse, and fix the sample", and using LED lamp as the microscope light source is "intense", "convergence", and "cool". This device is ingenious and reasonable in design, stable in technology, convenient in operation, and competent in microcirculation viviperception. It solves the technical problem to simulate the celiac environment for mesenteric microcirculation viviperception. The device provides convenience to observe and study the microcirculation, which is worth to be applicated widely.
2.Effect of Brucea javanica fruit oil emulsion combined cisplatin on the growth inhibition of transplanted tumor in human ovarian cancer SKOV3 nude mice: an experimental study.

OBJECTIVETo study the growth inhibition effect of Brucea javanica Fruit Oil Emulsion (BJFOE) on human ovarian caner SKOV3 cells and the transplanted tumor of SKOV3 nude mice.
METHODSGrowth inhibition effects of different concentrations BJFOE alone or its combination with cisplatin on human ovarian cancer cell SKOV3 were measured using MTT method. The orthotopic transplantation tumor model of human ovarian cancer SKOV3 cell lines was established in nude mice. Totally 32 ovarian cancer nude mice were randomly divided into 4 groups, i.e., the blank control group (Group A), the BJFOE group (Group B), the BJFOE combined Cisplatin group (Group C), and the Cisplatin control group (Group D), 8 in each group. Mice in Group A were intraperitoneally injected with normal saline (0.2 mL/ 20 g), once per two days. Mice in Group B were intraperitoneally injected with BJFOE (0.2 mL/20 g), once per two days. Mice in Group C were intraperitoneally injected with cisplatin (3 mg/kg) 0.2 mL on the first day, and intraperitoneally injected with BJFOE on the second day. Mice in Group D were intraperitoneally injected with cisplatin (3 mg/kg) 0.2 mL, once per two days. All mice were injected for six times, and sacrificed 48 h after the last injection. The lesion formation of the abdominal tumor tissue was observed. Tumor specimens were obtained to perform HE staining. Expression levels of MRP-1/CD9 and integrinα-5 were detected using Western blot.
RESULTSThe inhibition of BJFOE was time-dose depend- ently correlated with its inhibition effect of SKOV3 cells. The inhibition effect of BJFOE in combination of cisplatin was significantly superior to that of using any of the two drugs alone. Western blot results showed expression levels of MRP-1/CD9 and integrinα-5 were up-regulated in Group B and Group D with statistical difference (P < 0.05). But they were down-regulated in Group C with statistical difference (P < 0.05).
CONCLUSIONSIntraperitoneal injecting BJFOE was feasible and effective for treating ovarian cancer. BJFOE also could inhibit the invasion and migration of tumor cells targeting at MRP-1/CD9 and integrinα-5. But its specific anti-tumor mechanism was not clearly probed.

3.Effects of lead exposure on nitric oxide synthase activity in different brain regions of developmental rat.

OBJECTIVETo observe the influence of lead exposure on the activity of nitric oxide synthase (NOS) in different brain regions of rat.
METHODSBy establishing a series of rat models exposed to different low levels of lead (drinking water containing 0.025%, 0.050%, 0.075% of lead acetate) during developing period, NOS activities in hippocampus, cerebellum, cerebral cortex and brain stem were studied.
RESULTSOn the 21st day after birth, NOS activities in hippocampus of three levels of lead exposed groups [(1.53 +/- 0.20), (1.66 +/- 0.23), (1.88 +/- 0.32) U/mg pro respectively], and in cerebellum [(0.87 +/- 0.24), (0.85 +/- 0.09), (0.91 +/- 0.18) U/mg pro respectively] were significantly lower than those of control group [(2.36 +/- 0.18), (1.41 +/- 0.18) U/mg pro, respectively, P < 0.01]. NOS activities in cerebral cortex of 0.075% group [at 7, 14, 21 d of age [(1.29 +/- 0.14), (1.03 +/- 0.15), (0.69 +/- 0.10) U/mg pro] were significantly lower than those in control group [(2.54 +/- 0.31), (1.64 +/- 0.22), (1.24 +/- 0.14) U/mg pro respectively], and 0.025% group [(2.42 +/- 0.19), (1.59 +/- 0.17), (1.27 +/- 0.12) U/mg pro respectively], and 0.050% group [(2.56 +/- 0.53), (1.77 +/- 0.19), (1.24 +/- 0.10) U/mg pro respectively, P < 0.05]. There were no significant differences among control, 0.025%, and 0.050% groups (P > 0.05). Lead exposure had no influence on NOS activity in brain stem at the same age (P > 0.05).
CONCLUSIONNOS activities in hippocampus, cerebellum and cerebral cortex were inhibited by low level lead exposure and the degree of the effect was related to Pb exposure time and/or level of Pb exposed.

4.Effect of “Teaching-learning transaction”professional education on training ophthalmic postgraduates

AlM:To understand the effect on comprehensive ability of“Teaching-learning transaction” professional education of ophthalmic postgraduates which involving the teachers and students to participate in, and to explore new education model for ophthalmic postgraduate.METHODS:We carried out retrospective investigation questionnaire in the 31 ophthalmic postgraduates of Luzhou Medical College 2010 ~ 2014 grade and the 47 medical staffs of Department of Ophthalmology of the Affiliated Hospital of Luzhou Medical College, to clarify the new professional education model whether could improve the comprehensive ability of ophthalmic postgraduates or not. RESULTS: Carrying out the “ Teaching - learning transaction” professional education could improve the comprehensive ability of ophthalmic postgraduates.CONCLUSlON: Putting teaching and learning together can improve and promote each other, and it is helpful to cultivate comprehensive ability of ophthalmic postgraduates.
5.The epidemiologic and virological analysis of an outbreak of hand, foot, and mouth disease in Inner Mongolia in 2007.

In 2007, an outbreak of hand, foot, and mouth disease (HFMD) occurred in Jungar Banner, Erdos city, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, China Fever, vesicular exanthema on the hands, feet, mouth, and buttocks were presented in most of the patients. Most of the patients were infants less than 5 years old, and an obvious peak period appeared in the disease outbreak. From 28 hospitalized patients, 23 stool specimens and 6 throat swab specimens were collected for enterovirus isolation, and 15 enteroviruses were isolated, 9 were identified as Human Enterovirus 71 (HEV71, the isolation rate is 31.03%) and 1 was identified as Coxsackievirus A16 (CVA16). According to the comprehensive analysis of clinical manifestation, epidemiology data and laboratory results, this outbreak was probably mainly caused by HEV71. The variability at nucleotide acid level and amino acid level among 9 HEV71 was relatively low, and the homology was more than 99.4% and 99.0% respectively, showing that this outbreak was caused by only one viral transmission chain. Phylogenetic analysis of 9 HEV71 strains isolated during this outbreak revealed that they all belonged to subgenotype C4, which has been continuously circulating in mainland China since its first reported occurrence in Shenzhen City in 1998. It was also suggested that subgenotype C4 HEV71 had a widely distribution and transmission in mainland China.

6.Study on the neurotoxic effects of low-level lead exposure in rats.

OBJECTIVETo investigate effects of developmental lead exposure on nitric oxide synthase (NOS) activity in different brain regions and on N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) receptor mRNA expression in the hippocampus of rats. On the basis of these observations, we explored possible mechanisms by which lead exposure leads to impaired learning and memorizing abilities in children.
METHODSA series of rat animal models exposed to low levels of lead during the developing period was established (drinking water containing 0.025%, 0.05% and 0.075% lead acetate). NOS activities in the hippocampus, the cerebral cortex, the cerebellum and the brain stem were determined with fluorescence measurement and levels of mRNA expression of the NMDA receptor 2A (NR2A) subunit and NMDA receptor 2B (NR2B) subunit in the rat hippocampus were measured with Retro-translation (RT-PCR).
RESULTSThere were no differences in the body weight of rat pups between any of the groups at any given time (P>0.05). The blood lead level of Pb-exposed rat pups showed a systematic pattern of change: at 14 d of age, it was lower than that at 7 d of age, then rising to the peak level at 21 d and finally falling to lower levels at 28 d. The hippocampal NOS activities of lead-exposed groups were all lower than that of the control group on the 21st and 28th day (P<0.01). NOS activities in the cerebellum of lead-exposed groups were all lower than that of the control group on the 21st and 28th day (P<0.001) and the NOS activity of the 0.025% group was significantly lower than that of the 0.05% and 0.075% groups on the 28th day (P<0.05). NOS activity in the cerebral cortex of the 0.075% group was significantly lower than that of the control, 0.025% and 0.05% groups on the four day spans (P<0.001). There was no significant difference of NOS activity in the brain stem between any lead-exposed group and the control group on the four day spans. In the 0.05% and the 0.075% groups, the level of NR2A mRNA expression was higher than that in the control group at 7 d and 14 d of age (P<0.05). In the 0.025% group, the level of NR2A was found to be higher than that in the control group at 7 d of age only (P<0.05). No significant differences were found for the levels of NR2B mRNA expression between any of the groups at any given time.
CONCLUSIONSNOS activity in the hippocampus, the cerebral cortex and the cerebellum are inhibited by lead exposure. The degree of the inhibitory effect depends on the time span of exposure and the lead concentration. Developmental low-level lead exposure was found to raise the level of NR2A mRNA expression in the hippocampus of rats. Developmental low-level lead exposure does not affect the level of NR2B mRNA expression in the hippocampus.

7.Clinical significance of (18)F-FDG PET/CT evaluation of response to treatment in T-cell lymphoma.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the usefulness of (18)F-FDG PET/CT imaging in restaging, evaluating the treatment outcome, monitoring relapse and predicting prognosis of T-cell lymphoma.
METHODSRetrospective analysis of PET/CT image results of thirty-four patients with T-cell lymphoma, and to evaluate its clinical significance in restaging, treatment efficiency, relapse monitor and prognosis prediction.
RESULTSClinical restaging among the 20 stage I and II patients, 6 were ascended, 9 descended and 5 unchanged. Restaging among the other 14 stage III and IV patients, 3 were ascended, 4 descended and 7 unchanged. There were 12 patients in complete remission (CR), 11 in partial remission (PR), 2 in stable disease (SD) and 9 in progressive disease (PD) among all the 34 patients. There is obvious statistical difference of the standardized uptake value (SUV) between the efficacy group and the inefficacy group after treatment of 6 courses at least in 25 patients among all the 34 patients (P = 0.009). There is obvious statistical difference of the SUV value before and after treatment in 8 patients among all the 34 patients (P = 0.000). There is obvious statistical difference in the survival time between the efficacy group and the inefficacy group after treatment of 6 courses at least in 25 patients among all the 34 patients (P = 0.015).
CONCLUSIONS(18)F-FDG PET/CT imaging plays an very important role in guiding clinical restaging, evaluating the treatment outcome, monitoring relapse and predicting prognosis of T-cell lymphoma. It is helpful to establish personalized treatment planning.

8.Study on the association between STK15 Phe31Ile polymorphisms and esophageal squamous cell carcinoma.

OBJECTIVETo study the relation between single nucleotide polymorphism(SNP) at the 91T-->A(Phe31Ile) position of the STK15 gene and the susceptibility of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) in She county--a ESCC high incidence region in North China.
METHODSPolymerase-chain reaction(PCR)-restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP) analysis was used to detect the genotypes of STKl5 Phe31Ile(91T-->A) SNP, and the samples came from 296 ESCC patients and 302 healthy controls.
RESULTSThe risk of ESCC significantly increased in the group which had been smoking or having a family history of upper gastrointestinal cancer (UGIC) (the OR = 1.68 and 1.77, 95% CI: 1.34-2.10 and 1.44-2.19, respectively). Rates of the three genotypes (Phe/Phe, Phe/Ile, Ile/Ile) of the STK15 Phe31Ile (91T-->A) SNPs in ESCC patients were 11.5%, 34.8% and 53.7%, respectively, and were not significantly different from that in the healthy group (11.9%, 36.8% and 51.3%) (chi2 = 0.35, P = 0.84). When compared to Phe/Phe genotype, Phe/Ile and Ile/Ile of STK15 91T-->A(Phe31Ile)did not show effect on the risk of ESCC according to the odds ratio results which were 0.98 (95% CI: 0.57-1.69) and 1.09 (0.65-1.82) respectively. STK15 91T-->A (Phe31Ile) SNP also did not significantly influence on the development of ESCC even the samples were stratified by sex, smoking status and family history of upper gastrointestinal cancer.
CONCLUSIONThe STK15 Phe31Ile(91T-->A) polymorphisms seemed irrelevant with the risk of ESCC in She county.

10.Study on the relationship between college students' physical quality and the quality of sleep

Objective The author wants to investigate the relationship between college students' physical quality and the quality of sleep.Methods Stratified cluster sampling method is used,and invites a total of 2981 Anhui college students to take part in the questionnaire study,the Pittsburgh sleep quality index (PSQI) and physical test,in order to survey the sleep quality and physical quality of college students.The physical quality and sleep quality are analyzed by the multiple factor non conditional logistic regression analysis methods.Results PSQI scores of the 2744 students are (5.378 ± 2.492),477 people (17.4%) have poor sleep quality.The endurance,speed,strength quality scores are (75.850 ± 13.279),(69.760 ± 16.422),(66.278 ± 18.709) points.Logistic regression analysis shows that excellent endurance (OR=0.418) is a protective factor of sleep quality.Conclusion The improvement of endurance may improve sleep quality.
