Objective The present study was undertaken to investigate the properties of nonlinear dynamics of EEG and the changes in depth of anesthesia with real-time approximate entropy (ApEn) and complexity (Cx) nonlinear indexes monitoring during anesthesia. Methods EEG was recorded in 65 in-patients. They were randomly divided into 4 groups: isoflurane, sevoflurane, desflurane (n=15, respectively), and propofol intravenous anesthesia (n=20) groups. The EEG derived parameters ApEn and Cx non-linear indexes were calculated simultaneously during the whole operation including rest state with eyes closed, anesthetic induction, intraoperation, recovery, post-operation awaking. Results ApEn and Cx nonlinear indexes remained the highest during rest state. Both of them kept decreasing during anesthetic induction. They dropped to a relative lower value and leveled off in the intra-operation period. Both of them rose gradually during recovery period and returned to a high level in the post-operation awaking period (correspondingly, ApEn: 0.87, 0.78, 0.55, 0.64 and 0.83. Cx: 0.58, 0.54, 0.38, 0.46 and 0.57). Conclusions With ApEn and Cx non-linear indexes, changes in depth of anesthesia from EEG signal could be real-timely monitored and precisely measured. Nonlinear dynamic analysis might provide us with more information about consciousness and cognition during general anesthesia.

Objective To study CT and MRI appearance of transient hepatic attenuation difference (THAI)) .to reveal the cause of THAD),and to avoid false positive and misdiagnosis.Methods 10 cases appearing THAD in CT and 5 cases appearing THAI) in MRI were reviewed and all were processed with plain scan and dy- namic contrast with CT or MRI.Results 7 cases appeared transienl hypertransfusion of CT,4 cases appeared tran- sient hypertransfusion of MRI;3 cases appeared transient Hypoperfusion of CT,1 case appeared transient hypoperfu- sion of MRI.Conclusion The appearance of THAD in CT and MRI,was related to the quick-scan with CT and MRI only sufficient comprehension of the characteristics of blood supply in normal physiology and pathology of liver, combined with plain scan,could make correct decision possible in the final diagnosis when it occurred regional perfu- sion difference in liver.

Paeonol has a wide range of pharmacological activities. It is mainly used to protect cardiovascular and cerebrovascular system, promote microcirculation, antibacterial and anti-inflammatory, antitumor, anti-oxidation, anti-allergic reaction, enhance immunity, and treat diabetic osteoporosis, etc. In recent years, it not only improves the method of artificially synthesizing paeonol, but also carries out a large number of structural modification and transformation of paeonol. Five major parts, carbonyl, phenolic hydroxyl, carbonyl α-H, methoxy, and benzene rings, have been mainly modified. About 16 kinds of paeonol derivatives were produced including carboxylic acid esters, sulfonates esters, phosphates esters, ethers, NO donors, glycosidation, paeonol sodium, Schiff bases, thiazoles, oximes, hydroxyalkylation, α,β-unsaturated ketones, aminomethylation, α-H halogenation, demethylation, and benzene ring halogenation. In this paper, the derivatives of paeonol and their pharmacological activities were reviewed in combination with the literatures on paeonol derivatives at home and abroad. This article may provide basis for further study of this type of compound.

The optimized cultural medium of fermentation for Candida sp.mutant strain YQ5 to produce S-adenosylmethionine was studied.The results of single factor experiment showed that the most favorable pH value,carbon source,nitrogen source organic nutrient is 6.0,8% sucrose,1.5% tryptone and 2% yeast extract,respectively.As to inorganic salts,MgSO4?7H2O,CaCl2,FeSO4?7H2O,CoCl2,CuSO4?5H2O,H3BO3 could improve accumulation of the intercellular SAM.The ingredients of the culture medium are also opti-mized by the orthogonal experiment.Fermentation for 48 h under the optimal condition resulted in AdoMet production at 1740.0 mg/L.

Objective:To explore clinical and histopathological characteristics of primary biliary cirrho-sis-autoimmune hepatitis overlap syndrome.Methods:Clinical data and pathological findings of 10 pa-tients were reviewed.Results:Serum glutamine transpeptidase,alkaline phosphatase levels,alaninetransaminase,aspartate transaminase,serum IgG and IgM were elevated in all the patients.They were allpositive for anti-mitochondrial antibody and AMA-M2.Nine patients were positive for anti-nuclear anti-body and one patient was positive for anti liver-kidney microsome antibody.Liver biopsies in these pa-tients revealed:ten patients had bile duct lesion,hepatitis activities ranged from moderate to severe,andfibrosis ranged from S1 to S3.Conclusion:PBC-AIH overlap syndrome is mostly found in middle-agedwomen.It has the clinical and histopathological characteristics of both PBC and AIH.Accurate andprompt diagnosis of overlap syndrome patients should be based on the clinical presentation,biochemicaland immune indexes,and hepalic pathological changes.

Due to the irregular of diet and overfeeding greasy and surfeit flavor closely associated with hyperuricemia disease, the lipid emulsion containing high cholesterol was used to model. To obtain a more stable and sustained animal model for the efficacy evaluation of traditional Chinese herbs, we observed the influence on the serum uric acid of rat induced by the lipid emulsion compared with high purine diet. 36 SD male rats were randomized to the normal control group, high purine diet group and lipid emulsion group respectively. The general behavior, body weight and daily food intake of rats were observed. The orbital blood was taken to separate into the serum and 24 hours urine was collected. The serum indexes such as UA, BUN, Cr, ALT, AST, TC, TG, LDL-c were determined every 2 weeks, and XOD, ADA enzyme activity were determined at the 4th week. The urine indexes such as UA, Cr and Cua/Ccr were determined at the 4th week. After stopping modeling, the serum UA were determined two weeks and four weeks later respectively. At the 2nd week, the body weight and daily food intake of rats in the lipid emulsion group reduced significantly, and the level of serum UA, BUN, Cr, TC, LDL-c, ATL, AST raised significantly meanwhile TG reduced. At the 4th week, the serum UA in high purine diet group did not raise, and the serum XOD raised obviously while ADA did not; the serum UA in lipid emulsion group was higher significantly, and the serum XOD and ADA raised while Cua/Ccr reduced obviously. At the 6th weeks, the serum UA in both the high purine diet group and lipid emulsion group raised obviously. After stopping modeling, the serum UA in lipid emulsion group still maintained a high level at the 2nd week and back to the normal level at the 4th week. Compared with high purine diet, the hyperuricemia model induced by lipid emulsion forms earlierand more stable. It maybe has great value to study the pharmacodynamics of traditional Chinese medicine treatment to hyperuricemia disease. Its mechanism may be related to increasing XOD and ADA enzyme activity which can promote uric acid synthesis, meanwhile inhibiting of uric acid excretion.

OBJECTIVETo study the therapeutic effects and mechanisms of SQDG on carbon tetrachloride-induced chemical liver injury in mice as well as its possible mechanisms. At the same time the pharmacodynamics of SQDG was compared with TGP or ASTs of effective dose.

METHODThe model of carbon tetrachloride-induced chemical liver injury in mice was prepared. The levels of ALT, AST, MDA content, SOD and GSH-Px activities in liver homogenate were assayed by spectrophotometry; Meanwhile, hepatic pathological examination was observed.

RESULTProtective effect of SQDG on carbon tetrachloride-induced chemical liver injury: SQDG was able to significantly decrease serum transaminase levels of chemical liver injury's mice induced by carbon tetrachloride, decreased MDA content and improved the reduced SOD and GSH-px levels in liver homogenate. Furthermore, SQDG also attenuate the area and extent of necrosis and reduce the infiltration of inflammatory cell. Compared with TGP or ASTs of effective dose, SQDG has a better effect on carbon tetrachloride-induced chemical liver injury in mice.

CONCLUSIONSQDG can protect mice injured by carbon tetrachloride-induced chemical.

Objective To study the levels of Th1 and Th2 type cytokines in 3-nitrobenzene sulfonate(TNBS) and oxazolone(OXZ) colitis without or with Trichinella spiralis( T. spiralis) infection. Methods Female BALB/c mice were randomly divided into 4 groups: 50% Ethanol, T. spiralis only, TNBS or OXZ,T. spiralis +TNBS or OXZ(at least 6 in each group when mice were killed). The levels of IFN-γ, IL-12,IL-4, IL-10 in colon in mice with colitis induced by TNBS or OXZ without or with T. spiralis infection 3 d and 7 d post-induction were assessed using ELISA method. Results Colonic protein levels of IFN-γand IL-12 were significantly increased 3 d and 7 d after intra-colonic injection of TNBS( P ＜0.05 ). Concurrent infection with T. spiralis prevented this rise in IFN-γand IL-12 secretion and tended to induce a rise in colonic IL-4 and IL-10 content(P ＜0. 05). The levels of IFN-γ, IL-4 and IL-10 protein in colitic mice colon with prior nematode infection on days 3 and 7 post-induction of colitis were significantly higher than that seen in colitic mice without prior nematode infection ( P ＜ 0.05 ). Conclusion T. spiralis infection significantly attenuates TNBS-induced colitis in mice. The local immunologic mechanism is that T. spiralis can down-regulate strongly Th1-type immune response of colitis and up-regulate Th2 response, Tr1-cytokines. According to the change of Th1/Th2 cytokines, prior T. spiralis infection doesn't reduce the severity of OXZ-induced colitis, but without aggravating colitis. The exactly immunologic mechanism deserve to be explored deeply.

This study aimed to explore Semaphrin4D (Sema4D) expression and clinical significance in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), and to define the roles and mechanisms of Sema4D in regulating the malignant behaviors of A549 cells by small interfering RNA (siRNA). Firstly, immunohistochemistry revealed that Sema4D was more frequently expressed in NSCLC than in lung benign lesion (P<0.05) and its overexprssion was associated with low differentiation (P<0.05), poor pTNM staging (P<0.05) and occurrence of lymph node (LN) metastasis (P<0.05). Endogenous Sema4D expression was suppressed by Sema4D siRNA in A549 cells overexpressing Sema4D. Protein levels of Sema4D, total Akt and p-Akt were examined by Western blotting. Cell proliferation, migration and invasion abilities were measured by MTT assay and Transwell assay respectively. Results showed that Sema4D siRNA significantly suppressed phosphorylation of AKT in A549 cells, but it did not alter total AKT expression. In addition, efficient down-regulation of SemaD significantly inhibit cell proliferation (P<0.05), migration (P<0.05) and invasion (P<0.05) in A549 cells. These findings suggest that Sema4D might serve as a reliable tool for early prediction of NSCLC poor prognosis. Sema4D could play an important role in promoting tumor proliferation, migration and metastasis in the NSCLC, by influencing the Akt protein phosphorylation. Inhibition of Sema4D may be a useful approach for the treatment of NSCLC.
