Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is a highly contagious disease caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). More than one-third of patients with COVID-19 experience neurological symptoms, including confusion, headaches, and decreased/disordered taste. Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a slowly progressive neurodegenerative disease and the most common type of dementia. Alzheimer's disease patients are at high risk and susceptible to infection with COVID-19, which may cause severe illness and even death. There appears to be an interaction between AD and COVID-19, and on the one hand, patients with COVID-19 seem to be more likely to develop AD. AD patients, on the other hand, may be more susceptible to severe COVID-19. Therefore, understanding the common link between COVID-19 and AD may help to develop treatment strategies. Risk factors common to AD and COVID-19 are aging, ApoE ε4 allele, β-amyloid (Aβ) deposition, angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE), neuroinflammation, oxidative stress. Here, this article focuses on the relationship between COVID-19 and AD, explores common risk factors and potential pathogenesis, and provides help for early prevention, treatment and recovery.

Through searching domestic and foreign medical journals in CNKI, Wanfang database, VIP database and Pubmed database from January of 2003 to November of 2013, 39 articles regarding musical electroacupuncture (MEA) were analyzed. The result showed that MEA was clinically used to treat neurological and psychotic disorders; because it was combined with musical therapy and overcame the acupuncture tolerability, and MEA was superior to traditional electroacupuncture. However, problems such as low research efficiency and the mechanism of MEA superiority and the musical specificity not being revealed by research design still exist. In future, large-sample multi-center RCT researches should be performed to clarify MEA clinical efficacy. With modern science and technology and optimized study design, guided by five-element theory of TCM, researches on different musical elements and characteristics of musical pulse current as well as MEA's correlation with meridians and organs should be studied, so as to make a further exploration on MEA mechanisms and broaden the range of its clinical application.

OBJECTIVETo probe into the mechanism of electroacupuncture at shu-points of the five zang-organs for treatment of Guillain-Barre syndrome (GBS).
METHODSEighty healthy giant-ear white rabbits were randomly divided into 4 groups, a blank group, a model group, an electroacupuncture (EA) group and an immunoglobulin group, 20 rabbits in each group. The internationally recognized P 2 immune rabbit model was used in the study. The EA group were treated with EA at shu-points of the five zang-organs and the immunoglobulin group with intravenous injection of immunoglobulin 80 mg/kg/day. The sciatic nerve movement conduction velocity (MCV) and F wave incidence rate were investigated respectively at the 7th and 14th days of treatment in the rabbits of GBS.
RESULTSThe sciatic nerve MCV significantly reduced in the model group, and it significantly increased (P < 0.01) and F wave abnormal cases was significantly reduced (P < 0.05) after treatment for 14 days in the EA group as compared with those in the model group.
CONCLUSIONEA at shu-points of the five zang-organs can increase the sciatic nerve MCV and decrease the abnormal F wave incidence rate of the sciatic nerve in the rabbit of GBS.

BACKGROUND:During total hip arthroplasty, placement angle of acetabular prosthesis is significant for clinical curative effects. OBJECTIVE:To investigate the abduction angle and anteversion angle of acetabular prosthesis at different positions during total hip arthroplasty and related influential factors. METHODS:Thirty-five patients undergoing total hip arthroplasty were included in this study, containing 21 males and 14 females, at the age of 51-75 years old. Thesame patient at different positions underwent X-ray examination, including standing anteroposterior pelvis radiographic imaging, standing lateral radiographic imaging and supine anteroposterior pelvis radiographic imaging. Abduction angle and anteversion angle of acetabular prosthesis were measured. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:(1) Abduction angle and anteversion angle at standing positionwere bigger than that at supine position (48.47°, 45.89°; 12.44°, 6.17°;P< 0.05). (2) The change in anteversion angle wasassociated with pelvic incidenceangleand pelvic tiltangle. The change in abduction angle was associated with pelvic obliquity. (3) The range of abduction angle (40±10)° and anteversion angle (15±10)° of acetabular prosthesis was identified as securityzone. (4) Results suggested that there were changes in acetabular abduction angle and anteversion angle between supine anteroposterior pelvis radiographic imaging and standing anteroposterior pelvis radiographic imaging after total hip arthroplasty. Acetabular angle was associated with pelvic obliquity, pelvic incidence and pelvic tilt.
