1.Sixteen Cases with Tethered Cord Syndrome
Journal of Applied Clinical Pediatrics 2004;0(11):-
Objective To analyse the pathogenesis, diagnosis and treatment of tethered cord syndrome(TCS) and to improve the knowledge of the disease.Method The clinical data of 16 cases with TCS who underwent surgical lysis were analyzed, retrospectively. Results Thirteen cases were followed-up for 6 months to 1 year.Three cases with handicap of lower limb function and aesthesia and rectum and bladder sphincter dysfunction got good outcome, and 2 cases showed no improvement, while 10 cases with no symptoms(didn′t) appear TCS.Conclusions It is necessary to diagnose and manage as early as possible. The tethered cord lysis can relieve the symptoms of some cases and control development of TCS.

Objective To investigate the effects of different doses of ketamine on spatial cognitive function and the expression of mRNA and protein of N-methyl-D-uspartate (NMDA) receptor subunits NR1 and NR2B in the hippocampus of aged rats. Methods Forty SD rats of both sexes aged 15 months weighing 470-570 g were randomly divided into 4 groups (n=10 each) : one control group (C) and three ketomine groups (K1 ,K2 ,K3).The animals in group K1 ,K2 and K3 received intraperiteneal(IP) ketaminc 10,20 and 100 mg/kg respectively once a day for 3 days, whereas the animals in control group received IP normal saline instead of ketamine. One day after the last drug administration, the animals underwent Morris water maze test 4 times a day for 3 consecutive days. The animals were killed within 1 h after the last test for determination of the expression of NR1 mRNA and NR2B mRNA (using RT-PCR) and protein (using immuno-histochemistry) in the hippocampus. Results The latency period and swimming distance of water maze test were significantly longer on the 2nd and 3rd days in group K3 than in control group. The NR2B mRNA and protein expression was significantly lower in group K3 than in control group. Conclusion Anesthetic dose of ketamine decreases spatial cognitive function and the expression of NR2B mRNA and protein in aged rats whereas subanesthetic doses of ketamine do not.

OBJECTIVE To study the effects of levofloxacin on QT correction dispersion(QTcd) interval in elderly patients hospitalized with acute exacerbations of COPD(AECOPD).METHODS Totally 124 patients received IV levofloxacin(500 mg qd) for 10-14 days.Evaluations included of 12-lead ECGs at baseline and blood examination before treatment, day 5 and after treatment.RESULTS QT correction(QTc) interval was no significant changes, but the QTcd interval was with significant prolongation.CONCLUSIONS IV levofloxacin could not cause QTc interval prolongation, but could make QTcd interval prolongation, which is a potential risk of arrhythmia in elderly patients with AECOPD.

Journal of Applied Clinical Pediatrics 1986;0(01):-
Objective To study the curative effect and adverse reaction of Oxcarbazepine(OXC)on treating epilepsy in children.Me-thods One hundred and twenty-nine children with different types of epilepsy were orally given OXC,and the drug dose was added gradually.According to the seizure frequency, the cases were divided into 2 groups.Group A:more than 3 seizures occurred in 3 months prior to to take OXC;group B:more than 3 seizures occurred in 1 year prior to taking OXC.After 5 months and 1 year from beginning to take OXC,the original curative effect of the 2 groups was evaluated, respectively;on the other hand, the adverse reaction and the retention were studied. Results 1.Original effect:the rate of seizure-free was 45.8% and the total curative efficiency was 66.7% in group A(n=47);the rate of seizure-free was 92.3% in group B(n=13);in 60 partial epilepsy children, the rate of seizure-free was 56.7% and the total curative efficiency was 73.3%;Both rates were 62.2% and 75.6% of patients with OXC monotherapy and 40%,66.7% of patients were given OXC in combination with another antiepileptic drugs.2.Drug adverse reaction:24% of patients were found to have adverse reaction and most of the symptoms were light and most transient.3.Tolerability:patients' retention of OXC in 1 year was 72.2%,and in 2 years was 80.0%.Conclusions The antiepileptic effect of OXC is satisfactory and adverse reaction is light and mostly transient,OXC as a new antiepileptic drug is well tolerated as monotherapy and adjunctive therapy and should be used extensively.J Appl Clin Pediatr,2009,24(1):53-55

Objective To establish a multidrug resistance cell line from human lung adenocarcinoma. Methods The human lung adenocarcinoma cell line SPC-A-1 was exposed to cisplatin of a high and then increasing concentration for 192 d to establish multidrug resistance cell line (SPC-A-1/CDDP). The relative resistance was tested with MTT assay. The morphology of the cells was observed with transmission and scanning electron microscopy and the chromosome of them was analyzed with Giemsa stained specimens. Results The resistance index of SPC-A-1/CDDP cells to cisplatin was 11.2 and the cells showed various cross-resistance to 5-Fu, doxorubicin, mitomycin, vincristine and etoposide, but not to hydroxycamptothecine. Electron microscopy showed the cells with irregular and enlarged nuclei and abundant microvilli. Conclusion A multidrug resistance cell line (SPC-A-1/CDDP) from human lung adenocarcinoma is established. It can be used to downstream experiment.

Objective To observe whether the expression of interferon-regulatory factor genes are re- lated to systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE).Methods The clinical data of 45 SLE patients and 37 normal controls were collected.Total RNA of peripheral blood was extracted and transcripted into cDNA.Sybr green dye based real-time quantitative PCR method was used to compare the expression (indicated as-??Ct value) of IRFI,IRF4,IRF8 in patients with SLE and those in the controls. Results The levels of IRF1,IRF4 and IRF8 mRNA were-3.90?0.19,-8.04?0.25 and 3.60?0.15 respectively in normal controls. In SLE patients, IRF4 mRNA expression was -8.82?0.18,higher than that in normal (P=0.011).But IRF8 mRNA expression was 3.09?0.13,lower than that in normal (P=0.012).Conclusion Abnormal IRF mRNA expression is found in the peripheral blood of SLE patients.IRFs may play roles in the pathogenesis of SLE by affecting the differen- tiation of Th cells.
