Chinese Journal of Anesthesiology 1996;0(07):-
Objective Low-dose naloxone has been shown to reduce side-effects of morphine while morphine analgesia is not antagonized and may even be enhanced. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of low-dose naloxone infusion (50 ng? kg-1? h-1 ) on morphine analgesia and plasma levels of opioid peptides in patients after abdominal hysterectomy.Methods Forty-two ASA Ⅰ- Ⅱ patients aged 36-50 yrs, weighing 55-67 kg undergoing abdominal hysterectomy under combined spinal-epidural anesthesia were enrolled in this study. Spinal puncture was performed at L2-3 interspace. The patients received intrathecal 0.75% ropivacaine 2.0-2.6 ml. 2% lidocaine was used for epidural injection. The block height was maintained at T8-6 . For postoperative analgesia the patients were randomized to receive either intravenous morphine infusion at 10 ?g?kg-1 ?h-1 (group M, n = 21) or IV morphine infusion (10 ?g?kg-1?h-1)+ naloxone infusion at 50 ng?kg-1?h-1 (group MN, n = 21). Pain was assessed using VAS (0-10) with 0 representing no pain and 10 representing the worst possible pain. Blood samples were taken from peripheral vein before anesthesia (T0), at the end of surgery (T1) and at 6, 24, 48 h (T2,3,4) after operation for determination of plasma levels of ?-endorphin (?-EP), dynorphin A1-13 (Dyn) and leu-enkepholin (L-EK) .Results The patients were comparable with respect to, age, weight, occupation and duration of operation between the two groups. Two patients (1 patient in each group) were excluded from the study because of their refusal to have repeated blood samples taken. The analgesia was significantly better in group MN than that in group M in terms of VAS scores. Plasma level of ?-EP was significantly lower at 6 h after operation (T2 ) but significantly higher at 24 h postop. (T3 ) in group MN compared with that in group M ( P

5.Progress in Elimination of Elemental Sulfur by the Acidophilic Sulfur-oxidizing Bacteria
Jin-Lan XIA ; Cheng-Gui ZHANG ; An-An PENG ; Huan HE ;
China Biotechnology 2006;0(09):-
Metal sulfides are chemically attacked by Fe~ 3+ and H~+, resulting in the formation of elemental sulfur via polysulfides or thiosulfate pathway. Elemental sulfur may aggregate and even form a layer on the metal sulfide surface, which will inhibit leaching metals from the sulfides minerals. Elimination of inert elemental sulfur in a typical acidic environment can exclusively be by way of oxidation of acidophilic sulfur-oxidizing bacteria, such a way includes the attachment, transport and oxidation process of elemental sulfur by acidophilic sulfur-oxidizing bacteria. On the basis of analysis on the pertinent researches, the molecular mechanism of sulfur elimination by the acidophilic bacteria is far away from elucidated, and to attain that target, there are still much work to be done for elucidating the molecular mechanism on the attachment, transport and oxidation process of elemental sulfur by the acidophilic sulfur-oxidizing bacteria.

Chinese Journal of Tissue Engineering Research 2014;(3):446-451
BACKGROUND:Cartilage tissue engineering scaffold is a substitution for extracellular matrix, and there is a great significance on the shape and pore structure of the scaffold.
OBJECTIVE:To retrospectively focus on the fabrication technology of three-dimensional porous cartilage tissue engineering scaffolds.
METHODS:The first author searched PubMed, ELSEVIER SCIENCEDIRECT, Wanfang and CNKI databases (2000/2013) to retrieve relevant articles about the fabrication technology tissue-engineered cartilage scaffolds. The key words were“cartilage tissue engineering;scaffolds;fabrication”in English and Chinese, respectively. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:The fabrication technologies of three-dimensional porous cartilage tissue
engineering scaffolds are as fol ows:Phase separation/freeze-drying, hydrogels, rapid prototyping manufacturing, electrospinning, solvent casting/particulate leaching, gas foaming. The current cartilage studies have demonstrated that the pore size has a significance on the regeneration of the cartilage tissue, the pore size ranging from 100-250μm al ows for the regeneration of bone and cartilage tissue. The scaffold fabricated by the solvent casting/particulate leaching and gas foaming technology at a pore size of 100-250μm is suitable for the bone and cartilage tissue regeneration. To obtain the adequate biological and mechanical properties, researchers usual y combine a variety of methods to fabricate the cartilage tissue engineering scaffolds.

Objective:To evaluate the efficacy and safety of pegylated liposomal doxorubicin (PLD) in CHOP regimen for un-treated elderly patients with advanced diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL). Methods:In a prospective phase II study, we analyzed the feasibility of PLD-modified CHOP regimen in elderly patients with advanced stages of DLBCL. PLD was administered at 30 mg/m2 in combination with cyclophosphamide, vincristine, and prednisone at standard doses every 21 d for six cycles. CD20 positive patients were given option for rituximab treatment. Results:From November 2011 to March 2014, 30 patients with a median age of 70 years (range:63 to 80) were enrolled in this study. Up to 24 cases (80.0%) obtained an International Prognostic Index of≥3. The overall re-sponse rate was 86.7%, and the complete remission rate was 66.7%. With a median follow-up of 20.1 months, the 18-month overall and progression-free survival rates were 82.4%and 70.1%, respectively. The main toxicity was neutropenia, reaching grades 3 to 4 in the 24 cases (80.0%). No significant changes existed in patients' left ventricular ejection fraction and serum troponin-T during the study. Four patients (13.3%) showed asymptomatic abnormal changes in electrocardiogram after PLD infusion. Conclusion:CHOP regimen with PLD is an effective alternative for the treatment of DLBCL in elderly patients, exhibiting an acceptable toxicity.
