ObjectiveTo explore the detection significance of insulin-like growth factor-I(IGF-I),IGF-binding protein-3(IGFBP-3) in children with acute lymphoblastic leukemia(ALL).MethodsSerum samples were obtained from 30 ALL children without any medication;serum control samples were obtained from 30 cases of healthy children.There were no significant differences of body weight,age and sex between 2 groups.All children had no case history of liver,kidney,malnutrition and endocrine system disease.IGF-Ⅰ was determined by radioimmunoassay kit.IGFBP-3 was determined by immunoradiometric kit.The data were analyzed with SPSS 11.0 software.ResultsThe level of IGF-Ⅰ in ALL group [(18.95?4.02)?106 g/L] was significantly lower than that in control group [(34.12?7.86)?106 g/L](t =9.412P

AIM: To measure the macular thickness of normal young people by 3D 1000 optical coherence tomography (OCT) and study the repeatability of measuring results and the relationship between the thicknesses of macular and gender. At the same time, to compare our result with the data of other types of OCT, and to understand the consistency of the measuring results of macular thickness of different types of OCT.
METHODS: Totally 222 eyes in 111 young people were detected using 3D scan mode of Topcon 3D OCT 1000 (ver 2.4 ) . Twelve cases ( 24 eyes ) underwent repeatability check. We took transverse comparison between our measured results with other research's results.
RESULTS: There were 111 cases of young people, whose age were from 18-27 years old, all uncorrected and corrected visual acuity were≥1. 0, all intraocular pressure were <21mmHg. The average thickness of all macular region was 273. 32±17.08μm. Retinal volume of macular area was 7. 73 ± 0.37mm3 . Center thickness was 161 -264μm, and the average thickness was 200. 13±18. 81μm. Central macular thickness were 188 - 273μm, and the average thickness was 229. 00 ± 18. 20μm. The central macular thickness in men was significantly greater than that in women, and there was statistical difference. The results of repeated check of 12 cases ( 24 eyes ) in the macular area were no statistical difference except the outer ring of nasal quadrant, and the repeatability of average thickness in central macular thickness was better than in center thickness.
CONCLUSION:The repeatability of macular examination is good. The central macular thickness can be better repeated than the center thickness. The central macular thickness is 229. 00±18. 20μm in young people, according to the 3D 1000 OCT measurements. There are statistical difference of central macular thickness between different genders.

Objective To investigate MR imaging features of femoral marrow in treated ?-thalassemia major.Methods MR imaging of the proximal femoral marrow was performed in 35 cases of ?-thalassemia major and 45 age-and sex-matched normal children as control.Coronal images of femoral marrow with the techniques of spin echo and fast field echo(FFE)were obtained.On T_1-weighted imaging the red and yellow femoral marrow were judged and marrow distribution was classified into five groups.The hemosiderosis of marrow was judged on the basis of signal intensity of marrow on FFE imaging.The marrow distribution classification and the hemosiderosis on MR imaging were correlated with clinical features.Results On FFE,marrow hemosiderosis occurred in 15 patients with a marked hypo-intensity signal and was related to the age(P=0.032).On T_1-weighted imaging,the femoral marrow in 35 patients was classified as groupⅢand IV,while the marrow distribution was groupⅠorⅡin all normal children,there was statistically significant difference(P

Vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs) are crucial for studying the mechanism and regulation of vasogenic response, but so far no ideal method has been reported for their isolation. We established a VMSC isolation method based on two-step digestion, with which a large population of single smooth muscle cells could be obtained. After cell isolation, the potassium current, cytosolic calcium concentration, reactivity to caffeine were measured, and the results demonstrated that the cells were highly viable and exhibited reactivity to the vascular constrictor to meet various needs in experimental research.

OBJECTIVETo compare the effect of proximal needling and routine acupuncture for sciatica.

METHODSSixty patients with sciatica were randomly divided into a proximal needling group and a routine acupuncture group, 30 cases in each group. The proximal needling group was treated by proximal needling at Huantiao (GB 30). The routine acupuncture group was treated by acupuncture at Huantiao (GB 30), Yinmen (BL 37), Weizhong (BL 40), Yanglingquan (GB 34) etc. with routine acupuncture method. The Numerical Pain Rating Scales (NPRS) the Japanese Orthopaedic Association Scores (JOA) were all observed before, after treatment and in following up.

RESULTSThe total effective rates were 100.0% (30/30) in both groups, with no significant difference between the two groups (P > 0.05) in 3 month follow up. After 5 treatments, the total improvement rate of 100.0% (30/30) in the proximal needling group was super to that of 80.0% (24/30) in the routine acupuncture group. The NPRS and JOA scores were all improved significantly after 5 treatment and in following up compared with those before treatment in two groups (all P < 0.01). After treatments, the improvement of the NPRS and JOA scores in the proximal needling group was greater than those in the routine acupuncture group (both P < 0.05).

CONCLUSIONThe proximal needling treatment has rapid and obvious therapeutic effect and analgesia on sciatica.

Apyrase activities in some tissues and cells, such as peripheral vascular endothelial cells, have been reported, but these in endocardium endothelial cells have not been reported. The present study was to characterise the properties of bovine endocardium endothelial cells (BEEC)-associated apyrase. Apyrase activity was assayed by inorganic phosphate release, which could be inhibited concentration-dependently by NaN3, an apyrase inhibitor. NaF (20 mmol/L), another inhibitor of apyrase, also markedly inhibited the activity. EDTA or EGTA (1 mmol/L) could also inhibit the activity completely. However, the inhibitor for Na+/K+-ATPase, ouabain (3 mmol/L) did not affect the enzyme activity. BEEC apyrase activity was dependent on divalent cations (Ca2+ or Mg2+) and pH value.

The in situ gel systems can form gel in situ after administration to achieve sustained release, thus provides a promising strategy for drug delivery systems. The aim of this study was to design and prepare in situ gel systems for the oral delivery of ibuprofen (IBU-ISG) and study its pharmacokinetics in Beagle dogs. The characteristics of the basic material of gellan gum (Kelcogel, Kel) and sodium alginate (Manugel, M) were studied through investigating the complex viscosity of the Kel or M solution with or without different concentrations of calcium ion or sodium citrate to ascertain the amount range of the excipients. The measurement of complex viscosity of the solution (0. 5% Kel and 1% M) with different concentrations of sodium citrate and calcium ion was carried out to select the suitable proportion of calcium ion and sodium citrate. The formulation of binary IBU-ISG was optimized by monitoring the complex viscosity before gelling in vitro release property. The optimized formulation contains 1.0% sodium alginate, 0.5% gellan gum, 0. 21% sodium citrate and 0.056% calcium chloride. A single oral dose of IBU-ISG and reference formulation (IBU suspension) were given to each of the 6 healthy Beagle dogs, ibuprofen in plasma at different sampling times was determined by RP-HPLC. The pharmacokinetics parameters in 6 Beagle dogs were calculated. The Tmax of IBU-ISG and reference formulation were (1.8 +/- 0.6) and (0.4 +/- 0. 1) h. The Cmax values were (29.2 +/- 7.6) and (37.8 +/- 2.2) microg x mL(-1). The T(1/2) were (2.3 +/- 0.5) and (2.0 +/- 0.9) h, and the AUC(0-t) were (131.0 +/- 38.6) and (117.3 +/- 23.1) microg x mL(-1) x h, respectively. The binary IBU-ISG was successfully prepared.

OBJECTIVETo observe the therapeutic effect of He's Santong needling method on neurological functional deficit in the patient of ischemic apoplexy, and search for an effective method for treatment of ischemic apoplexy.

METHODSAccording to the randomized and multi-central trial principle, 319 cases enrolled were randomly assigned to an observation group of 161 cases and a control group of 158 cases. The observation group were treated with He's Santong needling method, i. e. blood letting, puncturing with a red-hot needle and filiform needle therapy by stages, and the control group were treated with acupuncture at 12 points of the hand and foot routinely selected in the department, once daily. After treatment of 30 days, changes of neurological functional deficit score were investigated in the two groups.

RESULTSThe total effective rate was 91.93% in the observation group and 70. 25% in the control group with a significant difference between the two groups (P<0.05); there was no significant difference in changes of the neurological functional deficit score between the patients at the acute stage and the convalescence (P > 0.05).

CONCLUSIONThe therapeutic effect of He's Santong needling method on ischemic apoplexy at acute stage or convalescence is better than that of the routine point selection.
