Objective To evaluate the diagnostic value of serum tumors CA72-4,CA242,CA19-9 and carcino-embryonic anti-gen (CEA)for patients with gastric cancer based on principle component analysis (PCA)-decision tree analysis.Methods Serum levels of CA72-4,CA242,CA19-9 and CEA in 193 patients with gastric cancer,106 patients with benign gastric disea-ses and 86 nornal controls were measured by electrochemiluminescence assay,and data were analyzed by the receiver operat-ing characteristic (ROC)curve,PCA and PCA-decision tree analysis.Results The area under the ROC curve of CA72-4, CA242,CA19-9 and CEA was 0.741[95% confidence interval (95%CI),0.692~0.791],0.863 (95%CI,0.827~0.898), 0.783 (95%CI,0.737~0.828)and 0.827 (95%CI,0.785~0.869),respectively.The combined four serum tumor markers in the PCA-AUC model was 0.935 (95%CI,0.912~0.958)at the cutoff value (PC score)of 44.13 with 78.2% of sensi-tivity and 94.8% of specificity.The accuracy of serum CA72-4,CA242,CA19-9 and CEA for the diagnosis of gastric cancer group and nongastric cancer group (benign gastric diseases and nornal controls)in the decision tree model were 76.2% and 94.8%,56.5% and 96.5% for prediction,respectively.The combined four serum tumors for the diagnosis of gastric cancer group and nongastric cancer group in PCA-decision tree model were 90.3% and 100%,72.4% and 92.2% for prediction,re-spectively.Conclusion The PCA-decision tree model based on serum CA72-4,CA242,CA19-9 and CEA were helpful for the diagnosis of gastric cancer.

Objective To evaluate the diagnostic value of serum tumors CA72-4,CA242,CA19-9 and carcino-embryonic antigen(CEA)in patients with gastric cancer based on pattern recognition techniques.Methods Data of serum concentrations of CA72-4,CA242,CA19-9 and CEA of 212 patients with gastric cancer,116 patients with benign gastric disease and 117 healthy subjects were retrospectively analyzed;and the diagnostic performance of each tumor marker,four tumor markers based principle component analysis(PCA),decision tree,PCA-decision tree and the fisher discriminant analysis models were established.Results CA242 had the best diagnostic effect on gastric cancer,and the area under the ROC curve(AUC)was 0.841(95％CI:0.804-0.877).PCA model showed that the serum levels of four tumor markers in patients with gastric cancer were significantly different from those in benign and healthy patients,and obvious metabolic disorders of serum with four tumor markers were found among the patients with gastric cancer.The diagnosis accuracy of the decision tree,PCA-decision tree and the Fisher discriminant analysis models for gastric cancer patients was 58.6％,65.5％and 58.6％respectively,and for non-gastric cancer patients(benign gastric diseases and healthy controls)was 94.7％,99.4％and 97.6％.And the prediction accuracy of the decision tree,PCA-decision tree and the fisher discriminant analysis models for gastric cancer patients was 65.7％,77.6％and 73.1％,and for non-gastric cancer patients was 87.5％,96.9％and 96.9％,respectively.Conclusion The PCA-decision tree model of serum CA72-4,CA242,CA19-9 and CEA might be helpful for the diagnosis and prediction of patients with gastric cancer.

Intraocular lens ( IOL) implantation is the major method to replace the cataract lens. How to improve the biocompatibility of IOL has been the focus of current research. Major reactions after the IOL implantation include endophthalmitis, corneal endothelial edema, iritis, uveitis, and posterior capsule opacification, etc. At cellular level, macrophages, monocytes, fibroblasts and lens epithelial cells can be detected on the surface of IOL. Their adhesion, proliferation migration, and transformation may be induced by the operation related cytokines released into the aqueous humor. Detailed analysis of cytokines profile after IOL implantation may be beneficial to explore the mechanism of posterior capsule opacification.

[Objective]Through a comparitive analysis between hemiarthroplaty and dynamic hip screws in femoral intertrochanteric fracture,to discuss the differences and similaries between two groups of patients.[Method]Using the methods of retrospective review,the author collected 63 cases of femoral intertrochanteric fracture,treated by hemiarthroplasty and dynamic hip screws respectively.Followed for a minimum period of 6 months,the author compared the postoperative complications,cumulative mortality rate and loss of ambulatory grades between two groups.[Result]There was no siganificant difference in operative time and introperative bleeding and no evident distinctions showed in posteroperative general conditions.But in local symptoms,DHS group appeared the cut-out from femoral head and coax vara resulting from the collapse of medial cortex,hemiarthroplaty group emerged the pain in hip without proof of loosening and infection of prosthesis.Hip scores decreased by 8.6% in DHS group and 9.2% in hemiarthroplaty group.In the opinion of the function convalescence,there was no definition to be worth recommending between two groups.[Conclusion]To eldly patients with unstable intertrochanteric fracture,fine function should be expected equal to preoperation after operation,but the chief motive is to provide the conditions which permit the patients earlier activity.So hemiarthroplaty is a reasonable alternative to a sliding screw device to treat intertrochanteric fractures.

Objective To discuss the techniques and efficacy of arthroscopy-assisted treatment for popliteal cyst. Methods From June 2004 to January 2006, 14 patients with popliteal cyst were diagnosed and treated with arthroscopy. During the operation, the popliteal cyst was removed, and then the hernial opening was repaired by suturing the medial head of the gastrocnemius tendon. The outcomes of the operation were evaluated by using Rauschning and Lindgren Grading. Results Arthroscopic examinations showed evident pathological changes in the knee joints of the 14 patients, including 6 cases of posterior horn medial meniscus tear, 1 case of chondromalacia of patella, 2 patellofemoral malalignment, 4 osteoarthritis, and 1 discoid lateral meniscal tear. The patients were followed up for 5-18 months (mean 11 months). According to the Rauschning and Lindgren Grading, 8 patients were grade Ⅱ and 6 were grade Ⅲ before the operation. After the operation, 9 patients were grade 0, 4 were grade Ⅰ, and 1 was grade Ⅱ. There was a significant difference between the pre-and postoperative grading (Z=-4.498, P=0.000). No patient had recurrence during the follow-up. Conclusions Popliteal cyst is usually induced by knee joint disorders. It was difficult to eliminate the cyst by simple resection. Arthroscopy-assisted treatment can achieve good outcomes.

Objective To investigate the effects of ?-aescin on the germ cell apoptosis and expression of bcl-2 and Bax proteins in bilateral testes following ipsilateral testicular torsion and detorsion. Methods Thirty adolescent male Wistar rats were randomly divided into control group (C group), model group of testicular torsion and detorsion (M group) and ?-aescin treatment group (T group), each group containing 10 animals. In M and T groups, rats underwent a clockwise 720? ipsilateral testicular torsion for 2 h followed by detorsion, and the rats in T group were intraperitoneally injected with ?-aescin 15 min before detorsion. 48h after operation, bilateral testes were collected, and used to detect cell apoptosis and expressions of bcl-2 and Bax by TUNEL technique and immunohistochemical method, respectively.
