Objective] To study Professor Wang Xinghua's experience in the treatment of cough. [Methods] Typical cases of cough treated by Wang Xinghua are selected for the analysis of causes, pathogenesis, treatment methods and detailed prescription. [Results] Six exogenous climatic evils, internal injury caused by excess of seven emotions, improper diet and overwork all can damage lung Qi, inducing cough. Delayed or improper treatment can lead to sub-acute types of cough, while weak constitution and deficiency of vital Qi consumed by prolonged diseases result in chronic cough. External induced acute cough mainly is excess type, while internal damage induced chronic cough is more prone to have deficient type. Syndrome differentiation based on external and internal factors, cold and heat, deficiency and excess is recommended for the treatment of cough. Those frequently used methods include dissipating wind-cold, expelling wind-heat, clearing away phlegm-heat, reinforcing earth to generate metal, removing dampness to reduce phlegm, warming Yang for resolving fluid retention, nourishing Yin to moisten dryness. Exogenic cough should be treated with expelling pathogens, assisted with tonifying vital Qi. Chronic cough resulting from disordered visceral function should be treated with tonification and conditioning, combined with expelling pathogen. [Conclusion] Professor Wang Xinghua's experience for treating cough is worth spreading for the comprehensive understanding of the pathogenesis of the disease, accurate syndrome differentiation, unique medicine application and significant treating effect.

Objective To observe the efficacy and safety of vildagliptin combined with acarbose in treating type 2 diabetes. Methods 78 patients with type 2 diabetes were divided into two groups to have additional vildagliptin combined with acarbose or acarbose combined with placebo. The clinical efficacy and adverse reactions after 12 weeks were investigated. Results In the treatment group, FBG, 2 h PG and HbA1C declined after treatment (P < 0.05) and FCP, 2 h CP, FINS and 2 h INS increased (P < 0.05). Compared with the control group, FBG and HbA1c in the treatment group were reduced and owever, FCP, 2 h CP, FINS and 2 h INS were increased more significantly (P < 0.05). There was no difference in the incidence of overall BMI between the two groups (P > 0.05). There were either liver and kidney damage (P > 0.05), nor hypoglycemia. Conclusion Vildagliptin combined with acarbose is superior to Acarbose combined with placebo , and it produced no more untoward effect.

OBJECTIVETo determine whether lysosome-associated protein transmembrane-4 beta (LAPTM4B) over-expression is associated with the proliferation and invasion in colorectal cancer (CRC).
METHODSThirty pairs of CRC tissues, containing carcinoma and adjacent tissues, were used for the examination of LAPTM4B mRNA expression by real-time quantitative PCR (qPCR) assays. Then immunohistochemistry was performed to examine LAPTM4B protein expression in 6 pairs of CRC tissues. Over-expression LAPTM4B and low-expression LAPTM4B cell models were constructed with HCT116 CRC cell lines. CCK8 assay was used to detect the proliferation and Transwell assay was used to detect the invasion of the model cells.
RESULTSqPCR and immunohistochemistry results showed that LAPTM4B expression levels in CRC were higher compared to adjacent tissues (all P<0.01). CCK8 and Transwell assays results showed that LAPTM4B promoted proliferation and invasion of HCT116 cell lines model cells (all P<0.01).
CONCLUSIONLAPTM4B promotes the proliferation and invasion in CRC patients, and may be used as an important potential marker.

Objective:To summarize the experience in surgical treatment for ulcerative colitis(UC).Methods:The clinical data of 36 patients with UC who underwent surgery in Renji Hospital,Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine from Jan 2008 to Jan 2013 were retrospectively analyzed. The surgical methods and prognosis were evaluated. Results:There were 23 ca-ses of selective operation which was total colectomy with ileal pouch-anal anastomosis(IPAA)in the first stage.Among the 23 cases,4 cases complicated with toxic megacolon were treated with intestinal obstruction catheter by endoscopy, and then under-went selective IPAA.There were 13 cases of emergency operation which was total colectomy with ileostomy in the first stage and IPAA in the second stage.Open surgery was done in 1 patient with perforation of digestive tract,1 patient with toxic mega-colon and 1 patient with history of abdominal operation, and laparoscopic surgery was done in the other 33 patients.None of the 36 cases had any severe perioperative complications. Conclusions:Indication of UC operation should be strictly controlled while safe operation method should be reasonably chosen.IPAA is a safe and effective method for selective operation and emergency surgery of UC.

Chronic refractory wound (CRW) is one of the most challengeable issues in clinic due to complex pathogenesis, long course of disease and poor prognosis. Experts need to conduct systematic summary for the diagnosis and treatment of CRW due to complex pathogenesis and poor prognosis, and standard guidelines for the diagnosis and treatment of CRW should be created. The Guideline forthe diagnosis and treatment of chronic refractory wounds in orthopedic trauma patients ( version 2023) was created by the expert group organized by the Chinese Association of Orthopedic Surgeons, Chinese Orthopedic Association, Chinese Society of Traumatology, and Trauma Orthopedics and Multiple Traumatology Group of Emergency Resuscitation Committee of Chinese Medical Doctor Association after the clinical problems were chosen based on demand-driven principles and principles of evidence-based medicine. The guideline systematically elaborated CRW from aspects of the epidemiology, diagnosis, treatment, postoperative management, complication prevention and comorbidity management, and rehabilitation and health education, and 9 recommendations were finally proposed to provide a reliable clinical reference for the diagnosis and treatment of CRW.

Objective:
Non-technical skills (NTS) are necessary to evaluate the comprehensive quality of surgeons. In this study, we proposed the concept of C-NTS, a scoring criterion for NTS based on real scenarios (for example, history taking) and video recording, and verified its practical application effects.
Methods:
Study objects were divided into the tutor group and the student group. The tutor group contained four senior attending physicians in gastrointestinal surgery department of one tertiary hospital (all male with doctor degree). The student group had four rotating surgeons who were randomly selected from the same department in 2018 (two males and two females). Before and after the training, the tutor rated the same anonymous video by C-NTS. One-factor analysis of variance was used to compare the differences between and within the groups, and Kendall concordant coefficient was used to test the consistency by SPSS 22.0.
Results:
After the tutor receiving training, Kendall concordant coefficient was increased from 0.425 to 0.853 and the latter suggested the difference had statistical significance (
