Objective To discuss the feasibility, efficiency and safety of urokinase application in patients with hypertensive intraventricular hemorrhage. Methods Sixty-nine patients were included,30 treated with ventricular drainage alone and 39 receiving adjunctive intraventricular urokinase.CT images and ADL scores were compared between the two groups. Results The intraventricular thrombolysis with urokinase significantly hastened the resolution of intraventricular blood clots as compared with ventricular drainage alone(P=0.030),with better outcome(P=0.029).Conclusion Urokinase application is a simple, effective, and safe in managing hypertensive intraventricular hemorrhage.

BACKGROUND:For autoimmune diseases, it is difficult to effectively solve the lack of immunological tolerance in patients by traditional treatments. Mesenchymal stem cells have the biological functions of tissue and organ regeneration and immune regulation. OBJECTIVE:To explore the effects and mechanisms of human umbilical cord-derived mesenchymal stem cells on the development of thymus in nude mice. METHODS:Human umbilical cord-derived mesenchymal stem cells were intraperitoneal y injected into BABL/c nude mice at a dose of 2×106 per mouse. We analyzed the maturation and distribution of thymic epithelial cells in the thymus rudiment of nude mice and the thymopoiesis of this newly developed thymus rudiment;furthermore, we explored the therapeutic effects of human umbilical cord-derived mesenchymal stem cells. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:Our data showed wel-organized cortex-medul a structure and an obvious improvement in the maturation of thymic epithelial cells in the rudiment. We further demonstrated the improved thymopoiesis and the enhanced export of mature T cells with the T regulatory cells increase in peripheral blood. Furthermore, we found that human umbilical cord-derived mesenchymal stem cells could be engrafted in the thymus and express many cytokines, especial y keratinocyte growth factor which is essential for the thymus development. These findings indicate that a new mechanism of human umbilical cord-derived mesenchymal stem cells can provide a proper microenvironment for the reconstitution and functional maturation of thymus in nude mice, and elicit another insight in terms of therapeutic efficacy of human umbilical cord-derived mesenchymal stem cells in many autoimmune diseases.

Objective To investigate the current status of family rehabilitation for children with disability and the unmet needs of habilitation/rehabilitation for their parents. Methods Family Rehabilitation Needs Survey Questionnaire was used to investigate 186 families of the children with disability from 5 rehabilitation institutions in 4 provinces. Results Most families accepted family rehabilitation, including family support, developed rehabilitation scheme, telephone counseling, real-time guidance and appointment for family rehabilitation. Most families would spent 1-2 hours a day for the family rehabilitation, and prefer the rehabilitation of gross motion. However, the rehabilitation agencies played less importance on supports of family rehabilitation. Conclusion The family rehabilitation supports needs to be improved in specification of rehabilitation process, developing rehabilitation scheme and quality control.

Objective:To investigate the therapeutic effect of venetoclax combined with azacitidine in treatment of myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS) complicated with monoclonal globulinemia of unknown significance (MGUS).Methods:The clinical data of a patient with MDS complicated with MGUS in the Second People's Hospital of Shenzhen in December 2020 were retrospectively analyzed, and the literatures were reviewed. Results:According to results of bone marrow smear, cytogenetics, and next-generation sequencing, the patient was diagnosed as MDS and MGUS complicated with ASXL1, RUNX1, EZH2, STAG2 mutations as well as t(11;14). No response was observed after 2 courses of azacitidine and 1 course of azacitidine plus HAG. Later the patient achieved complete remission and negative RUNX1 and STAG2 mutations after a course of venetoclax combined with azacitidine. Meanwhile, M protein exhibited a decrease more than 50%. To date, the patient was still in complete remission. Conclusions:The regimen of venetoclax combined with azacitidine shows a significant efficacy and good tolerance to patient with co-occurrence of MDS and MGUS with t(11; 14).
5.Effects of sunlight on the eye
International Eye Science 2020;20(2):191-196
Sunlight consists of lights of continuous spectra. Ultraviolet light and blue light in the sunlight have higher energy. High dose exposure to sunlight can cause direct cellular damage. In the eye, sunlight is known to cause pathological changes in various eye structures. We reviewed the studies on the role of sunlight in corneal diseases, cataracts, glaucoma, and age-related macular degeneration in recent years. Possible sunlight-triggered signaling pathways and mechanisms in the eye are summarized. Excessive exposure to sunlight may lead to increased DNA damage, aberrant protein modification and aggregation, and oxidative stress of ocular tissues, and thus results in the development of ocular diseases. Accordingly, physical protection, topical and/or oral antioxidants and small molecules blocking sunlight-activated signal pathways could be used independently or combinedly to prevent and reduce sunlight-induced ocular damages.

【Objective】 To analyze the efficacy of different intracavitary operations for calyceal diverticulum calculi, so as to provide reference for the diagnosis and treatment of such disease. 【Methods】 A retrospective analysis of the data of 21 patients with calyceal diverticulum calculi was conducted during Jan. 2015 and Dec.2021. The patients were divided into the retrograde intrarenal surgery (RIRS, n=14) group and percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL, n=7) group. The perioperative data were compared. 【Results】 There was no significant difference in stone load between the RIRS group and PCNL group \[(11.56±4.79) mm vs. (13.06±6.27) mm, P=0.609\].There were significant differences in the thickness of renal parenchyma at the top of the diverticulum \[(10.08±4.81) mm vs. (5.24±2.23) mm, P=0.005\], operation time \[(58.57±19.23) min vs. (88.29±25.28) min, P=0.007\], hospitalization time \[3(1, 5) vs. 12 (5, 7), P=0.023\] days. After operation, there were no significant differences in stone-clearance rate, decrease of hemoglobin, and postoperative complications between the two groups (P>0.05). 【Conclusion】 Both RIRS and PCNL are viable options for treating renal calyceal diverticulum calculi. RIRS has advantages of shorter operation time and hospital stay. PCNL can be an alternative treatment when RIRS is unsuccessful.
