Objective:To observe the effect of early weightbearing after anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (ACLR) on lower limb motor function, activation of the knee muscles and the stability of the knee joint.Methods:Forty-four persons who had received ACLR were divided at random into a control group and an experiment group, each of 22. In addition to conventional rehabilitation treatment after surgery, the control group underwent weightbearing training from the 8th day after the surgery, while the experimental group began weight-bearing training from the 3rd postoperative day. Both groups had their motor functioning evaluated using the International Knee Scoring Committee (IKDC) knee subjective evaluation form 3 days after the operation, and then 6 and 12 weeks later. Their pain perceptions were quantified on the same schedule using visual analogue scoring (VAS), and protractor measurements documented active range of motion (AROM). Electromyography (AEMG) of the medial head and rectus femoris muscle was also performed, and the stability of the knee joint was assessed using the KT-1000 test. Results:After the intervention, the average IKDC score, VAS score, knee extension and flexion AROMs, medial quadriceps head AEMG ratio, and rectus femoris muscle AEMG ratio improved to different degrees in the two groups. At 6 weeks the average pain score, knee extension and flexion ranges of motion, quadriceps medial head AEMG ratio, and rectus femoris AEMG ratio of the experimental group were all better than the control group′s averages. At 12 weeks the average IKDC subjective knee function score in the experimental group was also superior. Conclusions:Supplementing conventional rehabilitation with early weight-bearing can significantly improve the recovery from anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction. Beginning on day 3 after the operation gives the best results.

Insulin-like peptides(ILPs)play a crucial role in the biological processes of nematode metabolism, signal transduction, and developmental processes, representing potential therapeutic targets for nematode infections in animals. In order to explore the specific role of ILPs in nematode development and infection,genome-wide identification, sequence and evolution analysis of the ILPs coding genes were conducted on Haemonchus contortus(H.contortus);transcriptional levels of these ILPs coding genes among developmental stages were determined by a real-time quantitative PCR method;recombinant ILPs were produced in prokaryotic system for polyclonal antibody prep-aration and Western blot analysis;indirect immunofluorescence localization experiment was used to reveal the tissue distribution of ILPs at different developmental stages. It was showed that the number of ILPs coding genes in H.contortus were significantly reduced compared with that of Caenorhabditis elegans, namely three members of ILPs coding genes exhibiting antagonistic fea-tures;the highest transcriptional levels of ILPs coding genes was detected in the infective third stage larvae of H.contortus;ILPs were found dominant in the intestine and hypodermis of the in-fective larvae of this parasitic nematode. In this study, three genes encoding antagonistic ILPs were identified in H.contortus, they might play a role in regulating the development and infection processes. The finding lay a foundation for the study of nematode hypobiosis(larval diapause)in animals and the screening of potential intervention targets.

Organ preservation fluid could mitigate cold ischemia injury and maintain normal function of the grafts. At present, how to reduce a series of injury caused by cold ischemia of donor liver and improve the preservation quality of grafts are the hot and challenging spots in this field. Currently, preservation fluid in clinical practice has not achieved ideal preservation effect, especially for the protection of marginal donor organs. In the context of severe donor shortage, the key solution is still to explore the optimal preservation protocol for donor liver to prevent grafts from cold ischemia injury. In this article, the mechanism of donor liver injury during cold ischemia, the classification and evolution of donor liver preservation fluid were summarized, the development direction and challenges of donor liver preservation fluid were discussed, aiming to provide novel ideas and references for the research and development of donor liver preservation fluid.

COVID-19 pandemic caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) has spread across the globe, posing an enormous threat to public health and safety. Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), in combination with Western medicine (WM), has made important and lasting contributions in the battle against COVID-19. In this review, updated clinical effects and potential mechanisms of TCM, presented in newly recognized three distinct phases of the disease, are summarized and discussed. By integrating the available clinical and preclinical evidence, the efficacies and underlying mechanisms of TCM on COVID-19, including the highly recommended three Chinese patent medicines and three Chinese medicine formulas, are described in a panorama. We hope that this comprehensive review not only provides a reference for health care professionals and the public to recognize the significant contributions of TCM for COVID-19, but also serves as an evidence-based in-depth summary and analysis to facilitate understanding the true scientific value of TCM.
