Objective To discuss the method for operative treatment of acetabular fractures and assess corresponding results.MethodTotally 34 cases of acetabular fractures treated operatively from February 2000 to December 2005 were reviewed. There were 22 males and 12 females, with an average age of 39 years (16 to 61).On the basis of X-ray and computed tomography,all fractures were classified according to the Letournel-Judet classification,13 cases were simple fractures and 21 complicated ones. Kocher-Langenbeck approach(23 cases),illioinguinal approach(6 cases) and anterior combined posterior approach(5 cases) were adopted for different fractures with reconstruction plates and screws.The mean operation time was 150 min.The average blood loss was 600 mL.ResultAll cases were followed up for average 31 months(12 to 64 months).According to the criteria of Matta radiographicgrade,there were 18 cases with anatomic reduction, 9 with satisfactory reduction,3 with unsatisfactory reduction and 4 with joint contour reduction.Based on the modified Merle D' Aubigne and Postel clinical grading system for joint functions,11 cases(32.4%)showed excellent results,15(44.1%)good,4(11.8%)fair and 4(11.8%)poor. The excellent and good rate for anatomic and satisfactory reduction groups were 85.2%,while unsatisfactory reduction and joint contour reduction were 42.9%(P

Objective To observe the effects of berberine on ICAM-1, VCAM-1 expression and inflammatory cells exudation in mice with viral pneumonia caused by influenza virus, and explore its anti-injury effect. Methods Totally 108 BALB/c mice were randomly divided into control group, model group, and berberine group. 25 μL 50 LD50 influenza virus, mouse lung-adapted strain, was intranasally inoculated to model group and berberine group. 1 h after infection, control and model group were intragastrically given 25 μL distilled water, berberine group was treated by intraperitoneal injection with berberine at a dose of 0.005 g/(kg·d) for 5 days, twice per day. On day 2, 4 and 6 after infection, immunocytochemical method was used to detect ICAM-1 and VCAM-1 expression, and sorting cell count of leukocytes in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF) were counted. Results The expression of ICAM-1 and VCAM-1 in model group increased obviously on day 2, 4, 6, and which in berberine group decreased compared with model group (P<0.01). WBC, mononuclear cell, eosinophile cell and neutrophil cell number in model group increased significantly. WBC and neutrophil cell number decreased in berberine group on day 6 (P<0.01), and the mononuclear cell number decreased on day 4 (P<0.01). Conclusion Berberine inhibited the expression of ICAM-1 and VCAM-1, and decreased the inflammatory cells exudation in lung of mice with viral pneumonia caused by influenza virus. Berberine has protective effect on inflammatory injury of lung tissue in mice with viral pneumonia caused by influenza virus.

In order to explore the effects of diet and nutritional factors on breast cancer incidence, a case-control study was conducted in Tianjin. The study consisted of 244 cases diagnosed between September 1986 and September 1987 and equal number of matched controls from patients other than breast cancer in general hospital.The socio-demographic data, histories of menstruation and reproduction etc were collected by interview. The interview on diet was conducted by recalling the frequencies and amounts of various foods eaten one year prior to the diagnosis' of their current diseases. Data were analysed by using a nutrient-estimate program and conditional logistic regression model, chi square test and u-test.After adjusting for confounding factors, the results showed that high fat, high calorie, high monounsaturated fatty acid and low vitamin C intakes were risk factors for female breast cancer. High fat percentage of energy and low vegetable intake were associated with increased risk for breast cancer.

Objective To evaluate the clinical results of minimally invasive plate osteosynthesis (MIPO) in treatment of complex fractures of the distal femur. Methads From July 2005 to December 2006, 41 patients with complex distal femur fractures induced by high energy trauma were treated with MIPO plus locking compression plate(LCP). There were 31 males and 10 females, at average age of 38 years(17-65 years). According to the AO/OTA fracture classification system, there were 11 patients with type A3 fractures, 22 with type C2 and 8 with type C3. There were 16 patients with open fractures. The clinical result was evaluated by using function examination and radiographic assessment. Results All patients were followed up for average 8 months(2-18 months), which showed fracture healing, with mean healing time of 13 weeks(7. 16 weeks). There was only 1 patient with superficial infection but no fixation failure or implant breakage were found. The average knee range of motion was 110°(45°-135°). Hospital for special surgery knee rating scale(HSS) showed excellent or good results in 36 patients (88%). No patient with greater than 5°difference in either varus or valgus was detected when compared 2 days after operation with latest follow-up. Conclusion In treatment of complex distal femur frac-tures, MIPO plus LCP have advantages of minor trauma, stable fLxation, slight interference on soft tis-sues, early fracture healing and few complications.

Objective To evaluate the cLinical outcome and influencing factors of open reduction and internal fixation in treatment of hip dislocation combined with acetabular fractures. Methods A retrospective analysis was performed on 51 patients with hip dislocation combined with twetabular frac-tures, who were treated with open reduction and internal fixation under general anesthesia in the emergen-cy department on admission. Of all, 41 patients were treated with open reduction and plate/screw internal fixation, for which the reduction result was evaluated by postoperative X-rays and follow up X-rays accord-ing to Matta's criteria and the functional outcome by Merle d' Aubigne's criteria. Results Of 41 pa-tients, 33 were followed up for 1-7 years (mean 3.1 years). X-ray evaluation showed anatomic reduction in 27 patients (82%), imperfect reduction in five (15%) and poor reduction in one (3%). The clini-cal outcome at the time of final follow-up was graded as excellent in 18 patients (55%), good in 8 (24%), mederate in 3 (9%) and peor in4 (12%), with total excellence rate of 79%. Conclusion Prompt reduction of hip dislocation, precise reduction of the acetabular fracture and decrease of periopera-tive comphcations are key to excellent clinical outcome.

Objective To investigate cortactin expression in malignant colorectal tissues and corresponding adjacent non-cancerous colon tissues,precancerous lesions (adenomatous polyps) and the relationship between the expression of cortactin and cell division in colorectal cancer cells.Methods The expression of cortactin was detected by immunohistochemistry in colorectal cancer,colorectal adenomatous polyp (precancerous lesions) and colorectal tissues adjacent to adenocarcinomas (normal tissues).Kaplan-Meier method was employed to compare the survival between the groups.Cortactin expression and cell division were detected by Western blot and immunofluorescence in SW-620 colon cancer cells treated with cortactin siRNA.Results The positive expression rate of cortactin was significantly higher in colorectal cancer tissues than in adenomatous polyp tissues and pericarcinomatous normal tissues.Overexpression of cortactin in colorectal cancer tissues was correlated with poor differentiation (P ＜ 0.01),lymph node metastasis (P =0.006),and TNM stage (P =0.022).The 5 year survival rate of the group of negative/weak positive expression of eortactin was significantly higher than the group of strong positive expression of cortactin.CTTN gene amplification in colorectal cancer tissues was obvious.Cortactin siRNA induction caused a lower cortactin protein expression in colorectal cancer cells.Conclusions It is suggested that the excessive expression of cortactin contributes to the growth of cancer cells in colorectal cancer.

Objective To explore the clinical effect of traditional Chinese and Western medicine combined nursing intervention on pain control in patients after hip replacement .Methods Sixty-eight patients with hip replacement from January 2011 to April 2013 were divided into the experimental group and control group according to the random number table , each with 34 cases.The control group received the routine pain nursing intervention, and the experimental group received the auricular point and wrist ankle needle intervention on the basis of the control group.The degree of pain, adverse reactions, the days and costs of hospitalization, patients’ satisfaction and hip joint range of motion two weeks after operation .Results The scores of degree of pain in experimental group each time period were significantly lower than those in the control group , and the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05).The rate of adverse reactions and the days and costs of hospitalization were respectively 11.7%, (12.32 ±3.42)d, (38 561.46 ±3 247.02) yuan in the experimental group, and were significantly lower than 26.5%, (16.78 ±4.76) d, (42 512.87 ±3 853.23) yuan in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant (t=-3.452, 3.227, respectively;P<0.05). The patients’ satisfaction was 94.3% in the experimental group, and was significantly higher than 82.7% in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant (t=4.232, P<0.05).The hip joint range of active and passive motion two weeks after operation were respectively (97.86 ±6.56)°, (113.76 ±7.76)°in the experimental group, and were better than (90.14 ±6.23)°, (101.31 ±7.12)°in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant (t =-2.227, -3.216, respectively; P<0.05).Conclusions The traditional Chinese and Western medicine combined nursing intervention can effectively relieve the postoperative pain in patients after hip replacement , and is in favor of the rehabilitation of joint function so as to improve the quality of clinical nursing .

In 2012, the National Central Cancer Registry (NCCR) of China collected cancer registration information for the year 2009 from local cancer registries and analyzed it to describe the incidences and mortalities of cancers in China. Based on the data quality criteria from NCCR, data from 104 registries covering 85,470,522 people (57,489,009 in urban areas and 27,981,513 in rural areas) were checked and evaluated. The data from 72 registries were qualified and accepted for the cancer registry annual report in 2012. The total cancer incident cases and cancer deaths were 244,366 and 154,310, respectively. The morphologically verified cases accounted for 67.23%, and 3.14% of the incident cases only had information from death certifications. The crude incidence in the Chinese cancer registration areas was 285.91/100,000 (317.97/100,000 in males and 253.09/100,000 in females). The age-standardized rates for incidences based on the Chinese standard population (ASRIC) and the world standard population (ASRIW) were 146.87/100,000 and 191.72/100,000, respectively, with a cumulative incidence of 22.08%. The cancer mortality in the Chinese cancer registration areas was 180.54/100,000 (224.20/100,000 in males and 135.85/100,000 in females). The age-standardized rates for mortalities based on the Chinese standard population(ASRMC) and the world standard population (ASRMW) were 85.06/100,000 and 115.65/100,000, respectively, and the cumulative mortality was 12.94%. Lung cancer, gastric cancer, colorectal cancer, liver cancer, esophageal cancer, pancreatic cancer, encephaloma, lymphoma, female breast cancer, and cervical cancer were the most common cancers, accounting for 75% of all cancer cases. Lung cancer, gastric cancer, liver cancer, esophageal cancer, colorectal cancer, pancreatic cancer, breast cancer, encephaloma, leukemia, and lymphoma accounted for 80% of all cancer deaths. The cancer registration's population coverage has been increasing, and its data quality is improving. As the basis of the cancer control program, the cancer registry plays an important role in directing anticancer strategies in the medium and long term. Because cancer burdens are different in urban and rural areas in China, prevention and control efforts should be based on practical situations.
