ObjectiveTo investigate the effects of comprehensive psychotherapy on depression, anxiety and gastrointestinal reactions in patients with lung or breast cancer.Methods96 cases with lung or breast cancer were randomly divided into psychotherapy group(n=48) and control group(n=48) which were both treated with routine chemotherapy. Those in the psychotherapy group concomitantly received comprehensive psychotherapy for 2 weeks.Their characters of Symptom Checklist 90(SCL-90) were measured, while those of Self-rating Anxiety Scale(SAS) and Self-rating Depression Scale(SDS) were also measured before and after treatment.ResultsThe scores of SCL-90 in patients with lung or breast cancer were increased compared with Chinese norm in somatization, depression, anxiety, phobic anxiety(P<0.01).From the 3rd week, the scores of SDS(41.2±3.7) and SAS(34.6±5.8) in the psychotherapy group were significantly lower than those in the control group(P<0.01),as well as the gastrointestinal reactions.ConclusionPsychotherapy can obviously decease the severity of depressive and anxious emotions and the gastrointestinal reactions.

BACKGROUNDIn order to enhance the chemotherapeutic efficacy of advanced lung cancer and to practise the individualized treatment, it is necessary to find out the difference of anticancer drug-sensitivity in lung cancer cells. Comparing the array profile of related gene of anticancer drug-sensitivity between non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) cell lines and immortal human bronchial epithelial cell line BET2A, the difference of expression of related genes of anticancer drug sensitivity was detected.
METHODSWith the technique of cDNA macroarray, the different related gene proceeding of anticancer drug sensitivity expression was analysed in 6 NSCLC cell lines and BET2A cell line. RT-PCR was used to reconfirm the results.
RESULTSSeventy-three genes which were differentially expressed were found from 1291 candidate genes, and there were 45 genes upregulated, and 28 genes downregulated. The results of RT-PCR were consistent with those of cDNA macroarray.
CONCLUSIONSThe main reason of different sensitivity might be the difference of related gene of anticancer drug sensitivity expression. The results of this study provide new targets for reversing multiple drug-resistance, and they also provide experimental evidence to develop some new drugs and to realize the individualized treatment clinically.

BACKGROUNDLung cancer is the leading cancer of malignant tumors in China. It is the direction that people make effect to seek effective therapy of lung cancer. The aim of this study is to investigate the influence of arsenic trioxide (As₂O₃) injection combined with cisplatin (DDP) on the growth, apoptosis and XIAP mRNA of human non-small cell lung cancer cell lines.
METHODSThe influence of growth of human non-small cell lung cancer cell lines H460 induced by As₂O₃ combined with DDP or without DDP was analysed by 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2, 5-diphenyl tetrazolium bromide (MTT) assay. The apoptosis rate of H460 was measured by flow cytometry. XIAP mRNA level of the cells was detected by RT-PCR before and after treatment of As₂O₃ combined with DDP or without DDP.
RESULTSCompared to individual drug, As₂O₃ injection combined with DDP may obviously inhibit the proliferation of H460 cells, increase the apotosis rate of cells and strengthen inhibition of XIAP mRNA expression in cells.
CONCLUSIONSAs₂O₃ injection combined with DDP can significantly increase the chemosensitivity on human non-small cell lung cancer, and the mechanism may be related to its inhibition on the expression of XIAP.
