Objective:To investigate the effect of of simvastatin on bone formation and bone mineral density(BMD) during the retention after orthodontic tooth movement. Methods:Orthodontic tooth movement of upper first molar was performed in 40 rats with coil spring for 21 days. 40 rats were randomly allocated into 5 groups: basic control group, negative control group and 3 simvastatin groups(2.5 mg?kg-1, 5.0 mg?kg-1 and 10.0 mg?kg-1respectively).Rats in basic control group were killed when appliances were removed after 21 days. The experimental groups were administered simvastatin daily from 1 day before appliances removed for 4 weeks. The negative control group received the isotonic saline as control.4 weeks later all animals were anesthetized and killed. Level of serum Ca and P in blood, ALP, BGP and BMD were monitored.Results:①Between experimental groups and the negative control group, in amounts of ALP and BGP,the anterior were higher than the posterior (P0.05). ②The alveolar near the maxillary first molar,BMD of the basic control group was the highest(P

[Objective] To evaluate the clinical value of diagnosing osteoporosis with vertebra bone mineral density(BMD) by measurement with quantitative computed tomography (QCT) . [ Method] BMD in of lumbar vertebrae (L<,1~4>)were measured by QCT in 53 healthy middleaged persons or elderly persons (group A) and 68 osteoporosis patients ( groupB) . [Result] BMD in group A declined obviously as age increasing with significant differences (P<0. 01) . In group B,all 68 patients showed osteoporosis according to the diagnostic standard of BMD≤x -2. OSD. Sixty patients showed osteoporosis ifthe diagnostic standard was set to BMD ≤ x -2. 5SD. The BMD values of different age group was lower than the bone quantityblock values. [Conclusion] As a method for diagnosing osteoporosis, QCT has advantages of high sensitation, being precise, being reproducible and is easy for applying. It would be more practical and could decrease mis - diagnosing if the diagnosticstandard was BMD≤x-2.OSD.

The enzymatic synthesis of endomorphins were carried out by immobilized papain on sodium alginate-chitosan (IPSAC). The reaction has been carried out in two steps. First, Trp-Phe-NH2 was obtained by Boc-Trp-OH coupling with Phe-NH2 using IPSAC catalyst in microaqueous acetonitrile system with a 27.8 % yielding as determined by high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). The catalytic properties of IPSAC were examined by studying the dependence of pH, ionic strength, solution content, reaction temperature, enzyme loading and reaction time over the yields. The results of orthogonal experiments indicated that pH was the most significant factor that influenced this synthesis. Second, Boc-Tyr-Pro-OMe and Trp-Phe-NH2 were suspended into the microaqueous acetonitrile to produce Tyr-Pro-Trp-Phe-NH2 (endomorphin-1) with a 35.2% yield.

OBJECTIVETo study the genetic relationship of Astragalus membranaceus var. mongholicus in different producing area and provide theoretical basis for the evaluation of Astragalus germplasm resources.
METHODThrough quence-related amplified polymorphism (SRAP) analysis, the systematic diagram of genetic relationship was constructed by UPGMA method.
RESULTA total of 141 SRAP markers were scored. By the use of UPGMA cluster analysis with genetic distance, Astragalus could be divided into two provenance plots of Gansu and Shanxi.
CONCLUSIONThe genetic differentiation among populations of A. membranaceus var. mongholicus is remarkable. SRAP marker could be efficiently used for the study of the genetic relationship of Astragalus.

Journal of Biomedical Engineering 2002;19(3):412-415
As the transportation of O2 and CO2 inside human body is an integrated aspect of Qi-blood transportation, a hemodynamic model is established based on the analysis of the respiratory and circulation system. The results of such model show that the abnormality of the circulatory and respiratory parameters always lead to a reduction of Po2 (O2 pressure) in tissue fluid, and then a Lung Qi-Deficiency Syndrome (QDS). This model can be used to quantitatively explain, to some extent, the physiological phenomena of Lung QDS, and could combine all the discoveries of in clinical researches, on Lung QDS. The measurement of Po2 in tissue fluid as an index to analyze Lung QDS is in accordance with TCM and TMM (the theory of modern medicine). This model may provide a new approach in clinical research of Lung QDS.

OBJECTIVETo establish a convenient, practical and high efficient method of DNA extraction of os cervi, and lay the foundation of identification of animal bones.
METHODThe bones of sika deer, red deer, cattle, dog and pig were used to extract DNA under different decalcification time (24,48,72 h) and decalcification temperature (4,25,37,56,70 degrees C), and extract method.
RESULTIt proved by experiments that demineralization process promotes the cracking of osteocyte. In a broad of decalcification time and temperature, DNA could be extracted from all bone samples successfully while the quantity varied slightly.
CONCLUSIONSamples (about 0.1 g) decalcify with 0. mol x L(-1) EDTA at 4 degrees C for 24 h, then water-bath for 1 h after lysis buffer added, DNA extracted via the method above is of high quality and can be used for PCR.

Edema is a common pathological symptom, but its development mechanism is unknown. Based on the bearings of pressure upon interstitium structure and substantial exchange between plasma and interstitial fluid, a dymamics model describing the development of edema was set up. The model's theoretical results showed that the variations of interstitium pressure and structure due to imbalance of substantial exchange may lead to the development of edema, which is in accordance with recent clinical researches. Discussions on the dynamic mechanism of the development of edema proposed that the best way to prevent edema is instituting treatment before the interstitial structure being destroyed.
