BACKGROUND:Diabetic cystopathy is one of the most common chronic diabetic complications. The establishment of animal models of diabetic cystopathy wil provide experimental animal platform for relevant research.
OBJECTIVE:To establish a guinea pig model of diabetic cystopathy and to evaluate its urodynamic characteristics.
METHODS:Fifty short-hair Britain female guinea pigs were randomly divided into two groups, 42 as the experiment group and the other 8 as the control group. The experiment group was intraperitoneal y injected with streptozotocin to induce diabetes. The control group received injection of blank citric acid buffered solution. Diabetic guinea pigs were detected by urinary dynamics test at 9 and 12 weeks. Diabetic guinea pigs were further assigned into diabetic cystopathy subgroup and compensated subgroup. The urodynamic parameters of three groups were compared.
RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:Twenty of 42 guinea pigs were successful y induced diabetes by the injection of streptozotocin. At 9 weeks after the injection, bladder function compensation was present in six diabetic guinea pigs while bladder function was decompensated in another three diabetic guinea pigs. At 12 weeks, bladder function compensation was present in one diabetic guinea pig, while another eight guinea pigs were confirmed with diabetic cystopathy (88.89%). In the diabetic cystopathy subgroup, the residual urine volume was increased (0.72±0.08) mL, maximal detrusor pressure was decreased (0.63±0.05) kPa, maximum bladder capacity was increased (2.01±0.05) mL, and bladder compliance was increased (0.34±0.04) mL/kPa. There were significant differences compared with the compensated subgroup and the control group (P<0.001). Diabetic cystopathy occurs at 12 weeks after diabetic models are successful y established in guinea pigs, and urodynamic changes are mainly the increase of residual urine volume.

Objective To improve the diagnosis and treatment of adrenal myelolipoma. Methods Accord-ing to the clinical characteristics and follow-up outcomes,Adrenal myelolipoma 15 patients confirmed by operation and pathology were retrospectively analysed. Of the 15 patients, 11 presented with abdominal or flank pain, of which 3 presented with hypertention,4 presented no symptom. The diagnosis could be made with the aid of ultrasonography,CT and MRI. Results 15 patients underwent surgery, postoperative followed up from 6 months to 7 years, no reccurrence ever noted. Conclusions The diagnosis of adrenal myelolipoma could he established hased on B-US,CT or MRI. The final diagnosis depends on pathology. The operation should be performed as soon as possible if the symptom is severe or the size of tumor is lager than 3.5cm in diameter.

ObjectiveTo identify the relationship between urodynamic parameters and vaginal deliveries in women with genuine stress urinary incontinence(GSI).Methods56 women with vaginal delivery history who were diagnosed as stress urinary incontinence underwent urodynamic tests.Their abdominal leak point pressures(ALPP),maximum urethral closure pressure(MUCP) and functional urethral length(FUL) were recorded, and their Correlation to vaginal deliveries was tested using linear correlation coefficient.ResultsCorrelation between vaginal deliveries and ALPP showed a significant relationship(r=-0.349,P<0.05).Neither MUCP nor FUL showed a close relationship with vaginal deliveries(r=-0.219 and r=-0.178 respectively,P>0.05).ConclusionVaginal delivery plays an important role in the pathogenesis of GSI.The more vaginal deliveries, the more serious GSI.

Objective To investigate the effects of lipoxin A4 ( LXA4 ) on inflammatory related factors induced by uric acid( UA) in human umbilical vein endothelial cells( HUVECs) . Methods HUVECs were treated with 5, 25, and 50 ng/ml LXA4 prior to exposure to 12 mg/dl UA. Tumor necrosis factor-alpha(TNF-α), interleukin ( IL)-1β, and IL-6 were analyzed with ELISA and realtime PCR. The phosphorylation levels of p38 mitogen-activated protein kinases( MAPK) and NF-κB/p65 were observed with Western blot. Results Stimulation of HUVECs with 12 mg/dl UA markedly increased TNF-α, IL-1β, and IL-6 production(P<0. 01). Pretreatment with LXA4 significantly inhibited UA-induced production of TNF-α, IL-1β, and IL-6 in a concentration dependent manner(P<0. 01). The mRNA expressions of TNF-α, IL-1β, and IL-6 in response to UA were also decreased by LXA4(P<0. 05). Western blot analysis showed that the phosphorylation levels of p38 MAPK and NF-κB/p65 were significantly raised by 12 mg/dl UA in HUVECs(P<0. 05), but attenuated significantly in the presence of 50 ng/ml LXA4. Conclusion LXA4 may inhibit the expressions of inflammatory related factors induced by UA via reducing p38 MAPK and NF-κB/p65 phosphorylation and play a role in anti-inflammation.

Objective To investigate the prevalence of diabetes and prediabetes in northeast Sichuan area. Methods A total of 8 053 adult residents(over 18 years old)from the hospital who had underwent physical examination were recruited in the study. The concentrations of Fasting plasma glucose(FPG),glycated hemoglobin A1c(HbA1C)and blood lipids were measured.Diabetes and prediabetes were defined according to the 2013 American Diabetes Association criteria. Results The FPG and HbA1C concentra-tions increased with age.The overall prevalence of diabetes and prediabetes were estimated to be 8.5% and 39.6% in the adult pop-ulation in northeast sichuan area respectively. The prevalence of diabetes and prediabetes in men were significantly higher than those in women(10.7% vs.5.7%,41.5% vs.37.2%,P <0.05,respectively).Furthermore,the prevalence of diabetes increased with age,and the prevalence of prediabetes had a trend of first enhancement followed by a decline. Conclusion The prevalence of diabe-tes and prediabetes are relatively high in northeast Sichuan area.

A 29-year-old male patient with extranodal NK/T-cell lymphoma,a nasal type lymphoma with involvement of skin as the first symptom, was reported. The patient presented with swelling in the left side of the nose and suffered intermittent fever for 1 month. The fester in the oral mucosa and skin under the left nostril and redness, and the swelling on the orbit of the left eye lasted for 1 week.Physical examination showed that the left side of nose was swelling, and the skin below the left nostril was anabrotic and crusted. There were different ulcers in his jaws and buccal mucosa.Bilateral eyelid was redness and swelling, especially in the left side.Binocular conjunctival was congestive. The diagnosis of extranodal NK/T-cell lymphoma (nasal type) was confirmed by biopsy and immunohistochemistry.

Renal pelvic hemangioma is a rare benign tumor, presenting with intermittent, total, painless, gross hematuria, accompanied by low back pain, abdominal pain or other symptoms in some cases. Four cases of pyelonephric hemangioma were treated, which were misdiagnosed as malignancy before surgery. For middle-aged patients with intermittent hematuria, if the imaging data cannot rule out renal pelvic hemangioma, it is recommended to perform renoscopy, renal artery angiography or renal puncture biopsy. For patients diagnosed with renal pelvic hemangioma, either partial nephrectomy, ureteroscopic cauterization, or selective renal artery embolization can achieve good results.
