Two compositions, a sterol mixture and a pure ceramide, were isolated from the extract of a tunicate,Styela.canopus, collected from the Dayawan Bay, Guangdong. The sterols were detected by gas chromatography/mass spectrometry, and their structure was confimed by spectroscopic analysis. The ceramide was identified by spectroscopic analysis. The contents of sterols and the ceramide in the extract were 12% and 0.3% respectively. This was also the first report about the chemical constituents of Sytela. canopus.

Standards of commodity classes of Chinese materia medica is an important way to solve the "Lemons Problem" of traditional Chinese medicine market. Standards of commodity classes are also helpful to rebuild market mechanisms for "high price for good quality". The previous edition of commodity classes standards of Chinese materia medica was made 30 years ago. It is no longer adapted to the market demand. This article researched progress on standards of commodity classes of Chinese materia medica. It considered that biological activity is a better choice than chemical constituents for standards of commodity classes of Chinese materia medica. It is also considered that the key point to set standards of commodity classes is finding the influencing factors between "good quality" and "bad quality". The article also discussed the range of commodity classes of Chinese materia medica, and how to coordinate standards of pharmacopoeia and commodity classes. According to different demands, diversiform standards can be used in commodity classes of Chinese materia medica, but efficacy is considered the most important index of commodity standard. Decoction pieces can be included in standards of commodity classes of Chinese materia medica. The authors also formulated the standards of commodity classes of Notoginseng Radix as an example, and hope this study can make a positive and promotion effect on traditional Chinese medicine market related research.

Chinese Journal of Medical Instrumentation 2006;30(6):424-427
A design of the wireless ambulatory blood pressure monitoring system has been presented based on ARM embedded microprocessor and GPRS module for the extention of native mobile telemedicine. The whole system framework and flow chart have been introduced in detail. Based on RBF neural networks, the ambulatory blood pressure data curve has been simulated, and the trend curve provides a reliable gist for the prevention, treatment, diagnosis and therapeutic efficacy of cerebrocardiac diseases.

One new dicyclopeptide cyclo-(L-N-methyl Glu-L-N-methyl Glu) (1), together with one new natural dicyclopeptide cyclo-(L-methyl Glu ester-L-methyl Glu ester) (2), and two known dicyclopeptides cyclo-(L-methyl Glu ester-L-Glu) (3), and cyclo-(L-Glu-L-Glu) (4), were isolated from the aerial parts of Dianthus chinensis L. Their structures were determined by spectroscopic analyses and chemical methods.

China Journal of Chinese Materia Medica 2014;39(2):328-333
The complex production processes and long industrial chain in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) market result in difficulty in Chinese market microstructure research. Based on the defining the logical relationships among different concepts. This paper divides TCM market into two stages as Chinese materia medica resource market and traditional Chinese Patent Medicines market. Under this foundation, we investigated the supply capacity, approaching rules and motivation system of suppliers in TCM market, analyzed the demand situation in the perspective of demand side, and evaluated the purchasing power in terms of population profile, income, and insurance. Furthermore we also analyzed the price formation mechanism in two stages of TCM market. We hope this study can make a positive and promotion effect on TCM market related research.

Chinese Journal of Industrial Hygiene and Occupational Diseases 2005;23(3):199-202
OBJECTIVETo explore the possible mechanism of heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1) induction for its protective effects on acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS).
METHODSThe production of HO-1 was induced by hemoglobin (Hb) injection into oleic acid (OA) induced ARDS rats. Western blot and RT-PCR techniques were used to observe the induction of HO-1 in vivo. Both the levels of tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-alpha) and interleukin-8 (IL-8) in serum and bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF) were measured by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Combined with blood gas analysis and other indexes, the effect of HO-1 on ARDS could be clearly manifested.
RESULTSThe expression of HO-1 mRNA was increased significantly 16 h after Hb injection, and the protein expression of HO-1 was also obviously increased 24 h later (P < 0.01). The levels of TNF-alpha and IL-8 in both serum and BALF were significantly lower in Hb + OA group than in OA group (P < 0.01). Arterial blood PaO(2), oxygen saturation, and oxygenated index in Hb + OA group [(56.28 +/- 6.71) mm Hg, (79.53 +/- 5.82)%, and (258.81 +/- 29.37) mm Hg respectively] were higher than in OA group [(35.08 +/- 4.59) mm Hg, (55.80 +/- 12.76)%, and (167.86 +/- 21.94) mm Hg]. Lung wet and dry weight, and pathological changes were also improved.
CONCLUSIONThe production of HO-1 was successfully induced by hemoglobin in vivo. Protective effects of HO-1 on ARDS might be related to the decreasing in inflammatory factors, such as TNF-alpha and IL-8.

Chinese Journal of Traumatology 2003;6(6):326-331
OBJECTIVETo study the therapeutic effect of nimodipine on experimental brain injury.
METHODSExperimental and control rabbits were subjected to a closed head injury. In one group nimodipine was given intravenously and the effect evaluated by electron microscopy, brain water content, calcium levels, transcranial Doppler, and intracranial pressure monitoring.
RESULTSIn rabbits treated with nimodipine the level of neuronal cytosolic free calcium was markedly decreased. There were less cellular damage and less spasm of the middle cerebral artery seen on electron microscopy. No difference regarding intracranial pressure changes between the two groups was noted.
CONCLUSIONSNimodipine has a protective action on brain injury by blocking a series of pathological reactions induced by neuronal calcium overload, and by reducing the spasm of brain vessels and improving cerebral blood flow.
