OBJECTIVETo investigate the changes in lung injury and oxidative stress of sprague-Dawleyy (SD) rats at different times after single intratracheal instillation of potassium dichromate.
METHODSA total of 50 healthy male SD rats were randomly divided into control group and potassium dichromate group. The potassium dichromate group and the control group received 3 ml/kg intratracheal instillation of K2Cr2O7 (1.5 mg/kg) and normal saline, respectively. Rats in these two groups were sacrificed in batches at 1, 3, 7, 14, and 28 days after exposure. The changes in the following indices were observed and analyzed: body weight, lung coefficient, alkaline phosphatase (AKP) in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid, glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px) in lung homogenate, and reduced glutathione (GSH) in serum.
RESULTSThe rats in the potassium dichromate group had significantly decreased body weight on day 1 and day 3 after exposure than the control group (P<0.05). Lung coefficient increased significantly on day 7 (P<0.05) and kept increasing until the end of the experiment. The potassium dichromate group had a significantly higher activity of AKP than the control group on day 1 and day 7 after exposure (P<0.05). However, the potassium dichromate group had a significantly lower activity of GSH-Px than the control group on day 1 and day 3 after exposure (P<0.05). And the potassium dichromate group had a lower activity of reduced GSH than the control group on day 3 and day 7 after exposure.
CONCLUSIONSingle intratracheal instillation of 1.5 mg/kg potassium dichromate could result in lung inflammatory injury. of SD rats, and the injury is more severe on day 7 after exposure. Body injury is related to antioxidant activity, and the antioxidant.activity cannot recover completely on day 28 after exposure.

Journal of Integrative Medicine 2007;5(2):126-9
OBJECTIVE: To explore the correlation between syndrome differentiation and CT quantitative diagnosis of fatty liver. METHODS: One hundred and thirteen cases of fatty liver verified clinically accepted plain CT scan after syndrome differentiation (syndrome of stagnation of liver qi and spleen deficiency, syndrome of intermingled phlegm and blood stasis, syndrome of phlegm-dampness blocking internally, syndrome of deficiency of liver and kidney, syndrome of interior dampness-heat), and then the CT values of the liver and the spleen were measured respectively. RESULTS: It was shown that there was a correlation between the syndrome differentiation and the fatty infiltration in the liver. Significant differences of the distribution of fat and the ratio of liver-spleen were found among the five different syndromes (P<0.05). Diffused, mild fatty liver mainly displayed syndrome of stagnation of liver qi and spleen deficiency. CONCLUSION: Syndrome differentiation of fatty liver is correlated with CT quantitative diagnosis, which can be discriminated by the ratio of liver-spleen.

Objective:To investigate the breakthrough point and working method of anti-infective clinical pharmacists for involving the clinical therapy. Methods:Through the specific cases, the effect of clinical pharmacists in ward round and consultation was intro-duced and analyzed. Results:Through communication and learning, clinical pharmacists could play an important role in such areas as indications, multi-resistant bacterium and adverse reactions, especially in adverse reactions and individualized dosage regimen. Con-clusion:To a certain extent, clinical pharmacists are helpful to rational application of antibiotics in clinics through ward round, case discussion and consultation.

Objective To study changes and effects of transforming growth factor-?1(TGF- ?1) and its receptorIII (TGF-?1 R III) in children with idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP). Methods Bone marrow were respectively collected from 28 children with acute idiopathic thrombocytopenic pupura(AITP),16 children with chronic idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura(CITP) and 20 comparably normal children; Percoll density gradient and immunomagnetic beads methods were used to purify megakaryocytes from bone marrow; ABC- ELISA was used to detect TGF - ?1 in bone marrow; in situ hybridization was used to detect TGF-?1 RIIImR-NA expression on megakaryocytes. Results In AITP and CITP group, the levels of TGF-?1 and TGF-?1 RIIImRNA were significant higher than those in control group(P

Objective To study the effect of magnesium citrate combined with compound polyethylene glycol electrolyte powder in bowel preparation before colonoscopy. Methods One hundred and six colonoscopy patients with lower digestive tract symptom were divided into study group (54 cases) and control group (52 cases) by random digits table method, the bowel preparation in study group was magnesium citrate combined with compound polyethylene glycol electrolyte powder,in control group was compound polyethylene glycol electrolyte powder. The lesions detection rate, bowel preparation quality, time of first defecation, number of defecation, time of colonoscopy, results of the electrolyte level and liver and kidney function after medication and adverse reaction were compared between two groups. Results There were no statistical differences in lesions detection rate, time of colonoscopy, results of the electrolyte level and liver and kidney function after medication between two groups (P > 0.05).The total effective rate of bowel preparation quality in study group was significantly higher than that in control group [96.3%(52/54) vs.82.7% (43/52)],the time of first defecation was significantly shorter than that in control group [(32.5 ± 26.1) rmin vs.(47.2 ± 22.4) min],the number of defecation was significantly much than that in control group [(8.2 ± 2.9) times vs.(6.2 ± 2.6) times],there were statistical differences (P < 0.05).The incidence of nausea in study group was significantly lower than that in control group [22.2% (12/54) vs.48.1% (25/52)],there was statistical difference (P < 0.05).There were no statistical differences in the incidences of vomiting, abdominal distention and abdominal pain between two groups (P > 0.05).Conclusion Magnesium citrate combined with compound polyethylene glycol electrolyte powder used in preoperative bowel preparation for colonoscopy has better clinical application value.

Objective To study the expression and function relations of the p63 in ovarian serous carcinoma, and compare them with normal ovary tissue. Methods RT-PCR,in situ hybridization and im- munohistochemistry were used to detect the expression of the p63 in ovarian serous carcinoma, ovarian bor- derline serous tumors, ovarian benign serous tumors and normal ovary tissues. Results All samples ex- pressed p63 mRNA through RT-PCR and immunohistochemistry, while the levels of expression in ovarian tu- mors was higher than that of normal ovary.p63 in human borderline and malignant ovarian tumors was higher than that in human benign ovarian tumors with significant difference, which suggested p63 may play great roles in the origin and progression of ovarian tumors. The result of in situ hybridization showed that positive expression rate of p63 mRNA in ovarian cancer (92.1%) was significantly higher than that in normal ovary(0) or LWP ovarian cancer(50.0%).Conclusion Expression of p63 plays an important role in the development of varian carcinoma, and along with the difference of histological stage and clinico-pathological stage, the ex- pression of p63 gene and protein level were different.

Objective To develop an intelligent system which is able to offer an optimized emergency treatment recommendation for fast triage automatically. Methods An algorithm and intelligent platform for grading injury were developed based on physiological signal collecting technology, intelligent grading algorithm and integration technology.A comparison between this system and traditional methods was made. Results This intelligent system was able to increase accuracy by 21%and took only 48%of the time taken by traditional methods. There was significant difference between the two groups(P=0.038<0.05).Conclusion The accuracy of the triage is improved by this intelligent system that is less time-consuming.With this device, the injury statement can be identified quickly and the targeted medical treatment can be performed accurately. The efficiency of emergency treatment in case of disaster will thus be dramatically increased.
