4.Effect of Huayu Qinli Granule on function of vascular endothelium in the patients with hypertensive nephropathy
Chinese Traditional Patent Medicine 1992;0(02):-
AIM: To investingate the variety of the function of vascular endothelium in the patients with hypertensive nephropathy and the effect of Huayu Qinli Granule on (Hirudo,Rhizoma Smilacis Glabrae,Herba Leonuri, etc.) it. METHODS: This was a prospective, comparative and single-blind clinical trial.Patients in accord with the diagnosis and TCM differentiation standard were randomly divided into treatment group, united treatment group, blank control group and positive control group. Before the beginning of the trial, all patients were treated by Felodipine to lower their blood pressure to desired value. When the trial began, blank control group were treated only by Felodipine, positive control group were treated by general hypertension pills+captopril, treatment group were treated by Felodipine+Huayu Qinli Granule, united treatment group were treated by Felodipine+Huayu Qinli Granule+captopril. The course of study was for 4 weeks. The levels of urinary microalbumine(ALB),urinary ?_1-microglobulin(?_1-mg),urinary?_2-microglobulin(?_2-mg),serum nitric oxide and plasma endothelin were measured before and after the trial. RESULTS: The results showed both Huayu Qinli Granule and ACEI improved the levels of serum nitric oxide but there was slightly advantage over ACEI;both Huayu Qinli Granule and ACEI improved the levels of plasma endothelin, the improvement of Huayu Qinli Granule was(equal) to ACEI;united treatment group had the remarkable effect on serum nitric oxide and plasma endothelin. CONCLUSION: The results indicate that Huayu Qinli Granule improves the function of vascular endothelium in the patients with hypertensive nephropathy to a certain extent with the sufficiency of the treatment of depressing blood pressure. The effect of Huayu Qinli Granule is similar to that of ACEI.They cooperate with each other but mechanism of them may be different.
8.Fauna of scrub typhus vector chigger mites in Yunnan Province
China Tropical Medicine 2023;23(5):550-
Abstract: Chigger mites belong to the phylum Arthropoda, class Arachnida, sub-class Acari, order Parasitiformes, family Trombiculidae and Leeuwenhoekiidae, with a wide range of species. There are more than 3 700 known species of mites globally, of which 531 species in 46 genera from three sub-families have been recorded in China, and 320 species of chigger mites recorded from 3 subfamilies and 32 genera in Yunnan Province. At this stage, chigger mites are the only vectors of scrub typhus, with about 60 species worldwide being potential vectors. Six vectorial mite species have been confirmed in China, including Leptotrombidium deliense, L.scutellare, L.rubellum, L.sialkotense, L.kaohuense, L.insulare. Yunnan Province has reported five vectorial mite species, including the previously-mentioned five species except for L.sialkotense. The zoogeographic study divided Yunnan Province into 5 zoogeographic areas, namely, Central Hengduan Mountains subregion, Southern Hengduan Mountains subregion, Eastern Yunnan Plateau subregion, Western Yunnan Plateau subregion, Southern Yunnan Mountainous subregion. The Southern Hengduan Mountains subregion has the highest number of known genera and species of scrub typhus and the highest number of scrub typhus cases, with 216 species in 22 genera from 3 subfamilies, and all 5 species of vector scrub typhus were distributed. Southern Yunnan Mountain subregion has the least number of mite species, with 91 species in 12 genera from three sub-families, with L. scutellare being the dominant vectorial mite species across the province. Due to suitable natural geographic conditions in Yunnan Province, vectorial mites can propagate rapidly, leading to a large number of scrub typhus cases. According to statistics, the number of scrub typhus cases in Yunnan Province has rapidly increased, with 15.40 times, 20.64 times and 28.91 times more cases in 2016, 2017 and 2018 respectively than in 2006. Scrub typhus remains a serious public health problem in Yunnan Province, posing a threat to the health of the local population. Therefore, prevention and control efforts should continue to focus on the affected areas and the general public.

Chinese Journal of Urology 2001;0(11):-
Objective To improve the level of diagnosis and treatment of non-specific ureteritis. Methods The clinical data of 11 cases of non-specific ureteritis (6 men and 5 women) were retrospectively analyzed. Their mean age was 48 years (range,24~67 years). The lesions were detected in upper part of the ureter in 1 case,in middle part in 3,and in lower part in 7.All the lesions were unilateral strictured;of them unifocal strictures were found in 9 cases and multifocal strictures in 2.Open surgery was performed in 7 cases, biopsy and double J stent insertion in 4;of the 4 cases balloon dilation was performed in 1. Results Pathological findings confirmed the diagnosis of non-specific ureteritis.During follow-up of 6 months to 2.4 years (mean,1.6 years) for 10 cases, hydronephrosis was cured in 3 cases, alleviated in 6,unchanged in 1.Of these cases,2 underwent nephroureterectomy. No recurrence and canceration were found in the ureters of all cases. Conclusions Clinically, exploratory operation and biopsy are very important for suspected disorders of ureter before performing nephroureterectomy.
