Objective To investigate the effect of nicotine on coagulation abnormalities in endotoxemic rats.Methods Ninety-six male SD rats weighing 200-250 g were randomly divided into 4 groups (n=24 each): group normal saline (group NS);group LPS;group nicotine(group NIC)and group α-bungarotoxin (α7 nicotinic acetylcholine receptor antagonist, group α-BGT) . Endotoxemia was induced by LPS 10 mg/kg injected via femoral vein in LPS, NIC and α-BGT groups. In group NIC nicotine 400 μg/kg was injected intraperitoneally at 30 min before LPS injection. In group α-BGT α-BGT 1 μg/kg was injected intraperitoneally at 15 min before intraperitoneal nicotine. Prothrombin time(PT),activated partial thromboplastin time(APTT),fibrinogen(Fib),antithrombin (AT),von Willebrand factor(vWF),plasminogen activator inhibitor-1(PAI-1),D-dimer,platelet count and TNF-α were measured before (baseline) and 2, 4 and 6 h after LPS injection.Results PT and APTT were significantly prolonged and plasma Fib and AT concentrations and platelet count were significantly decreased, while plasma PAI-1, D-dimer, vWF and TNF-α concentrations were significantly increased after LPS administration in group LPS as compared with group NS. Nitotine pretreatment significantly attenuated the LPS-induced changes in group NIC.The effect of nicotine was counteracted by α-BGT. Conclusion Nicotine can attenuate coagulation abnormalities induced by LPS by acting on α7 nicotinic acetylcholine receptor.

Objective To explore the incidence and pathologic feature of patients with thyroid carcinoma treated at the First Hospital of Jilin University. Methods From January 2000 to July 2010,clinicopathologic data of 1018 patients with thyroid carcinoma treated in the First Hospital of Jilin University were retrospectively analyzed. Results The cases of thyroid carcinoma between 2008 and 2010 were more than 73% higher than that in the preceding 8 years. Cancer cases from January 2009 to July 2010 were more1018 cases reviewed, 976 cases were clearly classified pathologically. Papillary thyroid carcinoma, follicular thyroid carcinoma, medullary thyroid carcinoma and anaplastic thyroid carcinoma were present in 897 (91.91%), 43(4. 41% ), 22(2. 25% ) and 6(0. 61% ) cases respectively. Of the 1018 cases reviewed,804 cases were recorded with or without lymphnode metastasis. The rate of lymphnode metastasis of male and female patient were 39. 24% and 28. 64% respectively and the difference was significant( χ2 = 6. 71 ,P ＜0. 05). The rate of lymphnode metastasis of age ＜45 years and age ≥45 years were 37.65% and 23. 26%respectively and the difference was significant ( χ2 = 19. 54, P ＜ 0. 05 ). Conclusions In the past ten and a half years, the number of the thyroid carcinoma patients treated in the First Hospital of Jilin University increased year by year. The increase of papillary thyroid carcinoma was the most obvious. Thyroid carcinoma was more common among females. The peak incidence age of males and females was 30 -59. The rate of lymphnode metastasis of males was larger than that of females. The rate of lymphnode metastasis of age ＜45years was larger than that of age≥45 years.

Objective To explore the application of Artglass material in aesthetical restoration. Methods A total of 2196 restoratio ns, including 1963 veneers and 233 crowns, were made for 335 patients, and clini cal results were examined and recorded one by one. The related problems were dis cussed. Results There was significant improvement on cosmetics in most of the 2196 restorations; 44 restorations in 21 patients were failed, re sulting in a failure rate of 2%. The failure cases were repaired with Chrisma ma terial or remade with Artglass material. Conclusion Artglass ma terial has satisfactory prosthesis effects in aesthetical restoration. The bondi ng process and occlusion adjustment are important and should be specially notice d.
