AIM:To compare the higher-order aberrations between implantations of AcrySof and AcrySof ReStor multifocal aspherical intraocular lens(IOL) with various pupil diameters.METHODS:Fifty-four patients(62 eyes)with bilateral senile cataracts were retrospectively selected.Patients were operated with phacoemulsification and IOL implantation. They were divided into two groups based on the IOL implantation of AcrySof IQ and AcrySof ReStor.Wave front aberration:spherical aberration(C12)and the root mean square of the total higher-order aberration(RMSh)were observed 3 months after surgery.RESULTS:The larger the pupil was, the higher the C12 and RMSh were in the eyes (P<0.01).There were no statistical differences in C12 or RMSh between two groups at 5, 6 or 7mm pupil diameters (P>0.05). CONCLUSION:There are no differences between AcrySof IQ group and AcrySof ReStor group at 5, 6 or 7mm pupil diameters.

The present study aimed to investigate the effect of Glomus versiforme and Trichodema harzianum on the growth and quality of Salvia miltiorrhiza continuous cropping under field conditions. The field plot experiment was conducted, these active components in the plant were analyzed by HPLC, the root diseases incidence rate of S. miltiorrhiza determined by observation and counting, and relative parameters were measured. The data was statistically processed. The result showed that inoculation of G. versiforme and combined inoculation of G. versiforme with T. harzianum significantly decreased the root diseases incidence rate of S. miltiorrhiza, and combined inoculation of G. versiforme with T. harzianum was better than other treatments. All treatments improved accumulation of active ingredients in root. Inoculation of G. versiforme and combined inoculation of G. versiforme with T. harzianum significantly increased the content of salvianolic acid B and cryptotanshinone of root (P < 0.05), Inoculation of G. versiforme, T. harzianum and combined inoculation of G. versiforme with T. harzianum significantly enhanced the content of tanshinone I and tanshinone II(A) of the root (P < 0.05). It may conclude that inoculation of G. versiforme and combined inoculation of G. versiforme with T. harzianum can effectively reduce the root diseases incidence of continuous cropping S. miltiorrhiza, and improve the quality of S. miltiorrhiza.

Evaluation of the permeability mainly focuses on intestinal absorption in biopharmaceutics classification system (BCS). It is more complicated that the absorption and metabolism under multicomponent environment in biopharmaceutics classification system of Chinese materia medica (CMMBCS) compared with single component environment, which needs suitable mathematical models to be described. Therefore, with full consideration of existing single component mathematical algorithm combining with the characteristics of intestinal absorption and metabolism, we explored and designed a new mathematical algorithm of intestinal absorption and metabolism of multicomponent drug. Then we put forward a new coefficient, P (influence), the relative change rate of the single component's intestinal absorption and metabolism under multicomponent environment compared with single component environment, which described the influences of intestinal absorption and metabolism of the component under multicomponent environment. Moreover, P (influence) highlights the distinctive characteristics of multicomponent drug's intestinal absorption and metabolism, and lays the foundation for the construction of CMMBCS.

Objective To develop a convenient method efficiently expands the frequency of specific CTLS.Methods We used different concentrations of CMV-speeific epitope peptides pp65 to stimulate PBMCs for expansion of CMV-specific CTLs.CMV-specifie CTLs were doubly labeled by tetramers-PE and CD_8-FITC for FACS analysis. Results The method expands CMV-speeific CTLs efficiently.CMV-specific CTLs were expanded from 1% to 20% of PBMCs quickly(namely 40% of CD_8~+ T cells). The method provided a large number of cells with tetramer staining of CD_8~+ T cells for FACS analysis from a single blood sampling. Conclusions Peptides stimulation methods are convenient, easy to operate and expanded CMV- specific CTLs efficiently. The increased frequencies of CMV-specific CTLs allowed the data of different individuals to be easily compared and sequentially evaluated. The methods lay the base for adoptive immunotherapy to prevent CMV disease.

Objective To investigate the clinical manifestation of trachoma, and to select the appropriate laboratory test for clini- cal diagnosis.Design Retrospective case series.Participants Retrospective analysis of medical records from 61 patients with trachoma from Jan 2003 to Aug 2006 in Bejing Tongren Eye Center. Methods Grades of trachoma diagnosis were according to the criteria de- signed by Chinese Ophthalmological Society (1979).The general state of health, case history, and the laboratory investigations of pa- tients were recorded.Laboratory tests included the conjunctiva scraping for inclusions,C.trachomatis immune antigen test and PCR test.Main Outcome Measures Manifestation of corneal and conjunctiva, the results of laboratory tests of C.trachomatis.Results Out of sixty-one patients including 28 males and 33 females, the average old was (29.05?19.99) years.88.5% cases were inⅠstage of tra- choma,8.2% were inⅡstage, and 3.3% were inⅢstage. The C.trachomatis inclusions were found in 7 (11.5%) scraping smears.42 (68.9%) cases were positive in C.trachomatis antigen test.46 (75.4%) cases were positive in PCR tests. The positive rates of antigen and PCR test were significantly higher than that of scraping (P=0.00).Conclusions A majority of clinical patients were inⅠstage of trachoma. The degree of their distress was minimal. It is necessary to apply C.trachomatis, antigen test or PCR test to improve the clin- ical diagnosis.
10.The combination of creatine kinase-myocardial band isoenzyme and point-of-care cardiac troponin/ contemporary cardiac troponin for the early diagnosis of acute myocardial infarction
World Journal of Emergency Medicine 2022;13(3):163-168
BACKGROUND: The early diagnosis of acute myocardial infarction (AMI) remains challenging, especially for institutions without the high-sensitive cardiac troponin (hs-cTn) assay. Herein, we aim to assess the value of creatine kinase-myocardial band isoenzyme (CK-MB) combined with different cardiac troponin (cTn) assays in AMI diagnosis.
METHODS: This multicenter, observational study included 3,706 patients with acute chest pain from September 1, 2015, to September 30, 2017. We classified the participants into three groups according to the cTn assays: the point-of-care cTn (POC-cTn) group, the contemporary cTn (c-cTn) group, and hs-cTn group. The diagnostic value was quantified using sensitivity and the area under the curve (AUC).
RESULTS: Compared to the single POC-cTn/c-cTn assays, combining CK-MB and POC-cTn/c-cTn increased the diagnostic sensitivity of AMI (56.1% vs. 63.9%, P<0.001; 82.7% vs. 84.3%, P=0.025). In contrast, combining CK-MB and hs-cTn did not change the sensitivity compared with hs-cTn alone (95.0% vs. 95.0%, P>0.999). In the subgroup analysis, the sensitivity of combining CK-MB and c-cTn increased with time from symptom onset <6 h compared with c-cTn alone (72.8% vs. 75.0%, P=0.046), while the sensitivity did not increase with time from symptom onset >6 h (97.5% vs. 98.3%, P=0.317). The AUC of the combination of CK-MB and POC-cTn significantly increased compared to the single POC-cTn assay (0.776 vs. 0.750, P=0.002). The AUC of the combined CK-MB and c-cTn/hs-cTn assays did not significantly decrease compared with that of the single c-cTn/hs-cTn assays within 6 h.
CONCLUSIONS: The combination of CK-MB and POC-cTn or c-cTn may be valuable for the early diagnosis of AMI, especially when hs-cTn is not available.
