Shanghai Journal of Acupuncture and Moxibustion 2015;(2):95-98
Objective To observe the efficacy of acupuncture at Hegu (LI4) in treating central facial palsy due to cerebral ischemia, and to explore the dose-effect correlation and the optimal acupuncture protocol.Method Totally 150 patients with central facial palsy due to ischemic stroke were randomized into four groups to receive acupuncture at Hegu with different stimulation parameters plus the conventional integrated Chinese and Western medicine (group A, B, C, D) according to the acupuncture time and direction, and a control group (group E) only to receive the conventional Chinese and Western medicine treatment. The treatment lasted 14 d. The House-Brackmann facial nerve grading system, Toronto Facial Grading System and facial palsy grading scale were adopted as the evaluation indexes.Result After intervention, the scores of the three indexes were all significantly increased in the five groups (P<0.05), and the inter-group comparisons showed significant differences in comparing the improvement rate (P<0.05).Conclusion The study shows that acupuncture at Hegu is effective in treating central facial palsy due to cerebral ischemia, and with the inverse insertion of the needle and manipulation for 5 min at Hegu should be the optimal protocol regarding the improvement of the symptom score and effective rate.
3.Fauna of scrub typhus vector chigger mites in Yunnan Province
China Tropical Medicine 2023;23(5):550-
Abstract: Chigger mites belong to the phylum Arthropoda, class Arachnida, sub-class Acari, order Parasitiformes, family Trombiculidae and Leeuwenhoekiidae, with a wide range of species. There are more than 3 700 known species of mites globally, of which 531 species in 46 genera from three sub-families have been recorded in China, and 320 species of chigger mites recorded from 3 subfamilies and 32 genera in Yunnan Province. At this stage, chigger mites are the only vectors of scrub typhus, with about 60 species worldwide being potential vectors. Six vectorial mite species have been confirmed in China, including Leptotrombidium deliense, L.scutellare, L.rubellum, L.sialkotense, L.kaohuense, L.insulare. Yunnan Province has reported five vectorial mite species, including the previously-mentioned five species except for L.sialkotense. The zoogeographic study divided Yunnan Province into 5 zoogeographic areas, namely, Central Hengduan Mountains subregion, Southern Hengduan Mountains subregion, Eastern Yunnan Plateau subregion, Western Yunnan Plateau subregion, Southern Yunnan Mountainous subregion. The Southern Hengduan Mountains subregion has the highest number of known genera and species of scrub typhus and the highest number of scrub typhus cases, with 216 species in 22 genera from 3 subfamilies, and all 5 species of vector scrub typhus were distributed. Southern Yunnan Mountain subregion has the least number of mite species, with 91 species in 12 genera from three sub-families, with L. scutellare being the dominant vectorial mite species across the province. Due to suitable natural geographic conditions in Yunnan Province, vectorial mites can propagate rapidly, leading to a large number of scrub typhus cases. According to statistics, the number of scrub typhus cases in Yunnan Province has rapidly increased, with 15.40 times, 20.64 times and 28.91 times more cases in 2016, 2017 and 2018 respectively than in 2006. Scrub typhus remains a serious public health problem in Yunnan Province, posing a threat to the health of the local population. Therefore, prevention and control efforts should continue to focus on the affected areas and the general public.

Objective To explore the influence of lung IL-10 on interstitial dendritic cells in multiple organ dysfunction syndrome(MODS),and its role in immunological dysfunction. Methods The model of MODS was replicated by injecting zymosan into the peritoneal cavity of C57BL/6 mice. The mice were then randomly divided into normal groups as well as the groups of 3-6 hours,12-48 hours,5-7 days and 10-12 days post trauma. The level of CCR7 mRNA in lung was detected by RT-PCR and the proteins of CCR7 and IL-10 were immunohistochemically stained. The number of mononuclear cells in MHC-II positive peripheral blood was determined by flow cytometry. Results At the early stage of injury(3-6 hours),the number of IL-10 positive cells and the expression of CCR7 increased, but the number of mononuclear cells in MHC-II positive peripheral blood decreased. At the stage of 12-48 hours, the number of IL-10 positive cells and the expression of CCR7 continued to increase obviously, and that of mononuclear cells in MHC-II positive peripheral blood went on decreasing. At the stage of 10-12 days, the number of IL-10 positive cells increased dramatically compared with that in normal group, but the expression of CCR7 declined obviously in contrast to that in 12-48 hours, and the number of mononuclear cells in MHC-II positive peripheral blood decreased to the lowest level. Conclusions The expression of IL-10 in lung could inhibit the excessive immunological damage induced by dendritic cells on the one hand, and it probably leads to immunosuppression by reducing the CCR7 expression of dendritic cells and the number of mononuclear cells in MHC-II positive peripheral blood on the other hand.

Objective To master of the characteristics of development and variation in plague natural foci of Marmota sibirica, and to analyze the plague monitoring results from 2004 to 2008. Methods From May to September every year, we monitored plague in Manzhouli, Chenbaerhuqi, Xinbaerhuzuoqi, Xinbaerhuyouqi,Ewenkeqi and Yakeshi city. The monitored area was 20 000 - 40 000 hm2 in every county. The density of Marmota, ground squirrel and moonlighting rats was surveyed by path method, one-day bow-clip method and a clamp was placed every five meters, respectively. The classification and identification of ectoparasite fleas were done by using low power lens. The fleas in the ground squirrel hole were collected by flannel rubber stick, then classified and identified. According to National Standard of Plague Diagnostic Criteria(GB 15991-1995), the collected rats and fleas were detected by isolation and cultured Yersinia pestis, the serums of collected rats were tested by indirect hemagglutination test. Results In five years, the density of Marmota and ground squirrel was 0.010/hm2 and 0.602/hm2, respectively. The capture rate of moonlighting rats was 2.69% (258/9600). The flea infection rate of Marmota was 17.54%(10/57) and the fleas index was 2.54. The fleas infection rate of ground squirrel was 28.40%(213/750) and the fleas index was 1.01. Flea infection rat of ground squirrel hole was 5.60%(46/822) and the fleas index was 0.17. The total number of various hosts of Yersinia pestis detected was 1351, the groups number of the variety of cultured fleas was 127, and the pathogen test results were negative. The number of serum tested was 1064, positive number was 43, and the detection rate was 4.04%(43/1064). The highest positive titer was 1 : 1280. Other than 2006, the remaining four years were found positive for blood clotting material; positive serum was found in a total of three regions, they were Manzhouli, Xinbaerhuzuoqi, and Xinbaerhuyouqi; and 30, 12 and 1 copies of hemagglutination-positive sera were detected. Conclusions The epidemic of plague natural foci of Marmota sibirica is in a active state, and gradually expands the scope. We must continue to strengthen the inspection of the bacteria, bearing in mind the replacement of the region's main host, make every effort to prevent and control of human plague.

Journal of Huazhong University of Science and Technology (Medical Sciences) 2012;32(5):713-8
This study examined the roles of HLA-G in the pathogenesis, development and immune tolerance of hemangioma. From 2000 to 2007, 52 paraffin-embedded specimens (26 from males and 26 from females) of skin capillary hemangioma and 7 samples of adjacent normal skin tissues were collected. Four fresh specimens of hemangioma were also harvested. All samples were HE-stained and proliferative cell nuclear antigen (PCNA) was immunohistochemically detected by using SP method. The samples were classified into proliferative group and degenerative group according to the Mulliken criteria and the expression pattern of PCNA. SP method and quantum dots double staining were applied to detect the expression of HLA-G and PCNA in hemangioma and normal tissue samples. The expression of HLA-G was detected by RT-PCR. The results showed that among the 52 samples of hemangioma, 29 were of proliferative type and 23 degenerative type, and of the four fresh samples of hemangioma, 2 were of proliferative type and 2 degenerative type. SP method results showed that HLA-G was expressed in both proliferative and degenerative hemangioma, but not in normal tissues. The quantum dots double staining exhibited that HLA-G expression was significantly higher in proliferative group than in degenerative (P<0.05) and normal groups (P<0.05), but there was no statistically significant difference between the latter two groups (P>0.05). RT-PCR revealed that HLA-G was transcribed in both the proliferative and degenerative hemangioma tissues, but not in normal tissues. We are led to conclude that the elevated expression of HLA-G in proliferative hemangioma cells may lead to immune tolerance, which allows cells to escape immune surveillance and proliferate. On the other hand, the lower expression of HLA-G in degenerative hemangioma may result in immune cells-induced degeneration of hemangioma.
