Objective To investigate the effect of dexamethasone(DXM)and fructose-1,6-diphosphate(FDP)on cardial troponin I(cTnI)and MB isoenzyme of creatine kinase(CK-MB),and ultrastructure of myocardial cells in rats with endotoxemia.Methods Eighty SD rats were randomly divided into 4 groups:sodium chloride group(NS group,n=8),9 g?L-1 NS 1 mL,ip;lipopolysaccharide group(LPS group,n=24),administered with endotoxin(5 mg?kg-1,ip);DXM group(n=24):received DXM(5 mg?kg-1,ip)after injection of LPS 1 h;FDP(n=24)group,received FDP(1 g?kg-1,ip)after injection LPS 1 h.Then,they were sacrificed at 6 h,12 h,24 h and 72 h after injection.CK-MB and cTnI in blood were detected with chemiluminescent techniques,and myocardial pathological damage was observed under the light and transmission electron microscope.Results Compared with control group,in LPS group,the serum cTnI and CK-MB were increased significantly from 6 h to 24 h with time going by(P

Fatty liver disease is caused by abnormal accumulation of lipids within hepatocytes. According to traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) theory, lipids belong to the category of essence obtained from cereals and the normal distribution of essence relies on the function of spleen yang. When spleen yang is injured, the normal distribution of essence (lipids) will be affected, leading to formation of phlegm retention in the liver. That is the TCM pathogenesis of fatty liver disease. Hence the treatment of fatty liver disease should be concentrated on warming yang to activate qi. With such a treatment, the normal distribution of essence will be restored, essence will be distributed, and phlegm will be dissipated.

With the development of immunoassay and sensing technologies and the solid waste compost technologies being paid more and more attention,the method of immunosensor can’t be interfered by some interference factors of the commonly used analytical methods,it is of great significance to apply the immunosensor technologies in monitoring,and real-time,online measurement during compost process. The working mechanism and classification of immunosensor are briefly introduced,and the components of the complex compost system are divided into solid phase,liquid phase and gas phase. The development and application of immunosensor in compost is introduced. The latest progress in immunosensor for determination of trace toxicants is reviewed. The application of immunosensor in environmental monitoring and its future development are also discussed.

Objective To investigate the specific CT findings of gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GIST).Methods The CT imaging of 12 cases of GISTs confirmed operatively and pathologically were reviewed and analyzed.The gross pathologic findings of the tumors were compared with the manifestations of CT study.Results Two of the GIST were from the stomach,2 from the duodenum,4 from jejunum,and 1 from the junction of jejunum and ileum,ileum,rectum and mesenterium respectively.5 of 8 cases with GIST from intestine had history of hemafecia or positive of fecal occult blood test.9 of the 12 GISTs were malignant,1 of them was potentially malignant,1 was not sure to be malignant or benign.CT studies of 11 of the 12 tumors showed as exogenous mass of 3-20 cm,only 1 with less than 5 cm and 8 of them with over 5 cm.in the max diameter the tumors were cystic-solid with inhomogenous attenuation.The solid potion of tumors enhanced moderately to markedly after the contrast media administered.Ulcer was seen in the tumors of 2 cases,and the diameter of both of them were over 12 cm.Punctate calcification was seen in 1 GIST.Conclusion CT findings of GIST were specific to a certainty.CT study is helpful for locating the tumor and observation of the relationship of the tumor and surrounding structures.

Objective To observe the role of the mild changes in hepatic nuclear factor (HNF)-1? gene in the pathogenesis of type 2 diabetes mellitus. Methods With PCR, denatured gradient gel electrophoresis and DNA sequencing,the genomic DNAs from the blood of type 2 diabetic patients and normal control were analyzed to find the changes in HNF-1? gene. These changes were added up in-groups and compared with plasma insulin concentration. Results Code 459 CTG changed to TTC,codes 489 AGC changed to AAC in the 7th exon;no 7G changed to A in the 7th intron. The 3 point changes were of one kind of polymorphism. Its frequency to normal genotype was 61: 39 in normal control, 56: 44 in type 2 diabetes mellitus. This study examined the roles of HLA-G in the pathogenesis, development and immune tolerance of hemangioma. From 2000 to 2007, 52 paraffin-embedded specimens (26 from males and 26 from females) of skin capillary hemangioma and 7 samples of adjacent normal skin tissues were collected. Four fresh specimens of hemangioma were also harvested. All samples were HE-stained and proliferative cell nuclear antigen (PCNA) was immunohistochemically detected by using SP method. The samples were classified into proliferative group and degenerative group according to the Mulliken criteria and the expression pattern of PCNA. SP method and quantum dots double staining were applied to detect the expression of HLA-G and PCNA in hemangioma and normal tissue samples. The expression of HLA-G was detected by RT-PCR. The results showed that among the 52 samples of hemangioma, 29 were of proliferative type and 23 degenerative type, and of the four fresh samples of hemangioma, 2 were of proliferative type and 2 degenerative type. SP method results showed that HLA-G was expressed in both proliferative and degenerative hemangioma, but not in normal tissues. The quantum dots double staining exhibited that HLA-G expression was significantly higher in proliferative group than in degenerative (P<0.05) and normal groups (P<0.05), but there was no statistically significant difference between the latter two groups (P>0.05). RT-PCR revealed that HLA-G was transcribed in both the proliferative and degenerative hemangioma tissues, but not in normal tissues. We are led to conclude that the elevated expression of HLA-G in proliferative hemangioma cells may lead to immune tolerance, which allows cells to escape immune surveillance and proliferate. On the other hand, the lower expression of HLA-G in degenerative hemangioma may result in immune cells-induced degeneration of hemangioma.

Objective To compare the clinical performance of the self-etching and the phosphoric acid etching adhesive system for restoration of non-carious Class V restorations for a period of two years.Methods There were 37 patients with at least one pairs of similar-sized non-carious cervical lesions participated in the study.120 restorations were placed by one operator,of which 60 with phosphoric acid etching adhesive system(Spectrum TPH,Prime& Bond)and 60 with self-etch(Clearfil AP-X,SE Bond).The restorations were evaluated by ?2 statistics at the baseline,6th,12th and 24th month according to the modified Ryge"s USPHS criteria.Results At two years,106 teeth were reviewed in 33 patients.The retention rates for self-etching adhesive system were 89% and for phosphoric acid etching adhesive system 77%.The percentage of the retention rates of both adhesive systems was not found to be different when calculating the failure rates.No cases in both adhesive systems showed slight marginal discoloration problems.Some cases for each adhesive system had slight color change after the same period.Conclusions The performance of both adhesive systems is excellent during this two-year clinical trial.The self-etch adhesive system exhibites slightly better coloar match than the phosphoric acid etching system.

BACKGROUND: Methoxy polyethylene glycol (mPEG) is a kind of amphotedc compound with no immunogenicity that has been used to modify various proteins covalently and to prepare versatile blood types. If mPEG modification blocks the activation of T cells in grafts, graft versus host disease (GVHD) reaction probably becomes less serious and transplantation may become successful. OBJECTIVE: To construct haploidentical bone marrow transplantation mudne model and to observe the effects of mPEG modification to grafts on acute GVHD following haploidentical bone marrow transplantation, DESIGN, TIME AND SETTING: A randomized paired design experiment was performed at the Laboratory Animal Center and Pediatric Laboratory of the General Hospital of Chinese PLA between March and November 2003. MATERIALS: Twenty 8-10 week old male BALB/cH-2d mice served as donors and sixty 8-10 week old female CBe F1H-2d/b mice served as recipients, mPEG was provided by Sigma, USA. METHODS: Mixture of donor bone marrow and spleen cells was routinely prepared. After irradiated with 60Co γ ray at a total dose of 8.0 Gy, recipient mice were randomly divided into 3 groups, with 20 rats per group: irradiation control, non-modification, and mPEG modification. Within 12 hours after irradiation, the irradiation control group was injected with 0.5 mL RPMI-1640 culture medium via caudal vein, the non-modification group was administered with 0.5 mL non-modified mixture of bone marrow and spleen cells via caudal vein, and mice from the group were given 0.5 mL mPEG-modified mixture of bone marrow and spleen cells via caudal vein. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: After transplantation, hematopoietic recovery, survival rate, acute GVHD and chromosomal karyotype were studied and compared with controls. RESULTS: All mice from the irradiation control groups died within 2 weeks. The 30-day survival rate was significantly higher in the mPEG modification group than in the non-modffication group (75% vs. 40%, x2 = 5.01, P= 0.025). Histopathological examinations of skin, liver and intestine showed typical signs of acute GVHD. The mPEG modification group exhibited less severe pathological presentation and lower Thomas grading than the non-modification group. Cheimedsm examination revealed complete donor-type implantation in living recipient mice at 75 days after transplantation. CONCLUSION: mPEG modification to grafts can greatly alleviate acute GVHD and enhance the survival rate of mice after haploidentical bone marrow transplantation.

Objective: To investigate the relationship between academic achievements of high school students and the results of California Psychological Inventory (CPI) of them. Method: Seventy-one higher school students were tested by CPI-RC (revised Chinese version). Their academic achievements were recorded. Results: Nine of the 23 CPI traits, such as Re (responsibility), So (socialize), Wb (comfortable), Ac (achievement), Py (psychologized), Cm (communality), To (tolerance), Sc (self-control), V3 (self accomplishment) had significant correlation with academic achievements (r=0.24～0.33, p＜0.05). Students with different prefer (literal arts or science) showed different CPI traits. Students with better academic achievements had higher scores on So, Sc, Wb, To and V3. Conclusion: CPI traits have some relationship to academic achievements of high school students and to their academic preference.
