Objective To investigate the arthroscopic inside-out repairing technique(hybrid suture technique) for bucket-handle tear of inside meniscus and present the short-term clinical outcome. Methods Twenty patients with 20 repairable inside meniscus tears were enrolled. With arthroscopic technique, the midbody portion and anterior portion of the lesion were repaired using standard inside-out technique with vertical and interlacing tibial and femoral side arrangement. For the most posterior portion, all-inside suture technique with two posterior portals were performed. For isolated red-white zone tears, fibrin clot was implanted into the repaired region for enhancing the healing pro-ACL injuries were reconstructed simultaneously. Results Twenty patients with 20 meniscal repairs were available for 5-36 (19.2 ± 2.3)months follow-up. Eighteen cases were asymptomatic at the latest clinical evaluation, and joint space tenderness in 2 cases. Twenty cases received MRI evaluation during follow-up, showing that 15 menisci were completely healed, 5 partially healed. Postoperative Lysholm scores of the knee joint function [82-97(90.3 ±1.5) points] were significantly improved compared with their preoperative scores [45-69 (56.7 ± 2.0)points] (P = 0.024).Conclusion For meniscal tears involving red-red and red-white zones, arthroscopic hybrid suture technique provides stable strength along the whole length of injured region, and consequently achieves satisfactory clinical outcomes.

Progress in Biochemistry and Biophysics 2006;0(04):-
The rapid development of silicon microelectrode arrays provides an ideal means for the study of spatio-temporal features of neuronal activity in the brain. The stability of the linear silicon electrode array (LSEA) in recording neuronal potentials and its validity in recording unit activity are investigated. The experimental results showed that during the recording of field potentials in the hippocampal CA1 region of anesthetized rats, upward and downward movements of the recording probe for a distance of 200 ?m did not affect the orthordromic and antidromic evoked potentials significantly. The data indicated that the probe movements caused very small damage to the neurons, and the recording was stable. The contact sites that located in the pyramidal cell layer acquired CA1 neuronal unit activity validly. Different types of unit activity from independent neurons were easily distinguished in epochs of recording from a same recording site. These results demonstrated the features of the LSEA, including the facility of probe manipulation, the stability of recording and the abundance of data acquirement. The data will be helpful to the researchers involved in the application of microelectrode array for neuroscience researches.

Objective To analyze the efficacy and safety of suprapubic arc sling (SPARC) and transobturater vaginal tape (TOT) for female stress urinary incontinence (SUI). Methods A retrospective study was conducted on 275 women ( 139 in TOT group and 136 in SPARC group) in our institute from September 2008 to January 2011.We had compared the complications of the two groups. All the patient's ICI-Q-SF scores and PISQ-12 scores were collected. We compared the pre- and post-operative Qmax and PVR to find out if SPARC or TOT tap cause bladder outlet obstruction (BOO). Results The operative time was 25.1 ± 3.3 min for TOT and 34.8 ± 5.6 min for SPARC.There was statistical difference between the two groups in the aspects of operative time (P =0.00).The improvements of average symptom and QOL scores in patients undergoing TOT and SPARC were statistically significant (P =0.00).The improvements of the PISQ-12 scores in the two groups were statistically significant (P <0.05 ) as well. There was no significant difference (P > 0.05 ) in the total cure rate of TOT and SPARC.The complications post SPARC and TOT were low.In the TOT group, the Qmax changed from 30.2 ± 8.7 ml/s per-operatively to 24.9 ± 8.6 ml/s post-operatively in a week.PVR changed from 1.6 ± 4.2 ml pre-operatively to 3.2 ± 6.5 ml post-operatively in a week.In the SPARC group, the Qmax changed from 31.7 ±9.4 ml/s pre-operatively to 26.9 ± 8.9 ml/s post-operatively in a week.PVR changed from 1.4 ± 3.7 ml pre-operatively to 3.5 ± 6.3 ml postoperatively in a week. All the changes were significant ( P < 0.05 ).And in the SPARC group, the Qmax changed from 31.2 ± 10.0 ml/s pre-operatively to 26.2 ± 9.1 ml/s post-operatively; the PVR changed from 1.8 ± 3.2 ml pre-operatively to 4.7 ± 8.8 ml post-operatively (P < 0.05). Conclusions Both the TOT sling and the SPARC sling have high cure rates for SUI.But the retropubic sling may lead to BOO and other complications,so the transobturate sling is a better treatment option for SUI.

A series of 2-(3-butynoicamidophenyl)benzothiazole derivatives were synthesized starting from 4-fluoro-3-nitrobenzoic acid. Structures of all the synthesized compounds were confirmed by 1H NMR and HR-MS. Their antitumor activities against human tumor cells lines (HCT116, Mia-PaCa2, U87-MG, A549, NCI-H1975) were evaluated by MTT assay. The results revealed that most of the synthesized compounds showed potent activities against HCT116, Mia-PaCa2, U87-MG tumor cells lines. Particularly, compounds 14c and 14h exhibited better activity with IC50 values of 1 x 10(-8) mol x L(-1) against U87-MG and HCT116 respectively. The structure-activity relationship of compounds was also discussed preliminarily.

OBJECTIVETo discuss operative methods and effects for Müller-Weiss disease.
METHODSFrom March 2005 to May 2011, 15 patients were operated. There were 2 males and 13 females, with an average age of 51.8 years (range, 26 to 62 years). The preoperative American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society (AOFAS) ankle-hindfoot score was (42 ± 13) points. According to the Maceira Staging system, 1 foot was grade 2, 6 feet were grade 3, 4 feet were grade 4, and 4 feet were grade 5. The technique consisted of arthrodesis of the talonaviculocuneiform joints with plate, arthrodesis of the talonavicular joint and arthrorisis of naviculocuneiform joint with plate, or triple arthrodesis with screws, according to the preoperative evaluation.
RESULTSTen feet were treated with arthrodesis of the talonaviculocuneiform joints, 3 feet were treated with arthrodesis of the talonavicular joint and arthrorisis of naviculocuneiform joint and 2 feet were treated with triple arthrodesis. Two patients were lost to follow-up. The average follow-up after operation was 19.2 months (range, 9 to 38 months). All feet were solid fusion and the average duration of union was 13.3 weeks (range, 12-16 weeks). The AOFAS ankle-hindfoot score at the last follow-up was (83 ± 6) points. Two feet were excellent, 10 feet were good, and 1 foot was fair. The length of feet was (14.2 ± 1.0) cm before surgery and (15.7 ± 0.9) cm at the last follow-up (t = 11.570, P < 0.05). The Meary's angle was -6.1° ± 13.1°before surgery and 1.1° ± 3.0° at the last follow-up (t = 2.248, P < 0.05). The talocalcaneal angle was 4.5° ± 2.2° before surgery and 18.0° ± 4.0° at the last follow-up (t = 11.700, P < 0.05). One foot had breakage of the plate and screws at arthrorisis of naviculocuneiform joint and none had complications related to the incision.
CONCLUSIONOperations for Müller-Weiss disease, according to concrete conditions using different therapeutic program, may achieve a satisfactory outcome.
