Objective: To investigate the analgesic effect and impact of lornoxicam on the expression of plasma IL-6 and IL-10 in patients undergoing upper abdominal surgery.Methods:Sixty patients undergoing upper abdominal surgery were randomly allocated into three groups,morphine group(M,n=20),postoperative lornoxicam group(L,n=20) and preemptive lornoxicam group(P,n=20).For group M the subjects received patient controlled intravenous analgesia(PCIA) with morphine(loading dose 0.05 mg/kg,bolus 1 mg,lockout time 10 min,background dose 0 mg) after the surgery.While in group L,8 mg lornoxiam was administered at the end of the surgery,then the same morphine PCIA scheme as in group M was used in combination with intermittent intravenous lornoxiam(8 mg per injection) at 12,24 and 36 h after the surgery.Except that the first 8 mg lornoxicam was injected 30 min before the operation,the analgesic paradigm of group P was similar to group L.The analgesic effect assessed by VAS at rest,the consumed dosage of morphine,and the adverse effects as nausea and vomiting,were recorded at 4,8,12,24 and 48 h.Furthermore,2 ml of the venous blood was drawn before the induction of anesthesia 2,6,12,and 24 h after the surgery to measure the levels of interleukin 6(IL-6) and interleukin 10(IL-10).Results: During the 48 h observation,the VAS at rest was not statistically significant in the three groups,but more morphine was consumed in group M than in group L and group P.There was no difference among the three groups in the incidence of such adverse effects as nausea or vomiting.The basic levels of IL-6 and IL-10 were too low to be measured.The concentrations of IL-10 and IL-6 reached the peak at 2 and 6 h after surgery respectively,and the level of IL-10 in group M was significantly lower than in groups L and P at 2 h.In contrast,the level of IL-6 in group M was significantly higher than in group L and group P at 6 h,and even higher than in group P at 12 h. Conclusion: Lornoxicam,especially when administered before upper abdominal operation,could significantly decrease the dose of morphine for postoperative analgesia and attenuate the inflammatory cytokine response after surgery.

Objective To explore imaging features of Zinner syndrome.Methods Eight male patients with clinically diagnosed Zinner syndrome performed abdominal and pelvic CT and /or MRI scan.The radiological data was studied retrospectively.Results Eight cases showed seminal vesicle cyst with ipsilateral renal agenesis on CT and/or MR imaging ( left side, n =5; right side, n =3).The maximal diameter of seminal vesicle cysts varied from 4.2 to 7.0 cm, and appeared as oval cystic lesion with irregular contour or tube-like dilatation , which appeared low density on CT image and hypo-or hyperintensity on T 1 WI and hyperintensity on T 2 WI.Bladder compression was found in 6 cases.Fuild-fuild level in the cysts was seen in 2 cases.Remnants of ureter structure were seen in only 1 case.There was no other accompanying abnormality of urinary system.Conclusions Zinner syndrome presents with characteristic imaging features , and the key issue is differential diagnosis of seminal vesicle cysts.

Objective To explore imaging findings and pathological features of ovarian collision tumors. Methods A retrospective analysis of preoperative imaging findings was performed in 8 female patients with surgical-pathological proven ovarian collision tumors. CT scans were performed in 5 cases, both CT and MRI were performed in 2 cases, and non-enhanced MR scans were performed in 1 pregnancy woman. Imaging results were compared with pathologic findings. Results Ovarian collision tumors in the eight patients consisted of 2 types tumors, originated from different ovarian tissues including surface epithelial cells, germ cell, or sex cord-stromal cell. Of the 8 ovarian collision tumors, 5 were located in the left ovary, and 3 in the right ovary. Ovarian collision tumors consisted of surface epithelial tumor and germ cell tumor (n=6) including mucinous cystadenoma and teratoma (n=4), mixed cystadenoma and teratoma (n=1), and serous cystadenoma and struma-ovarii (n=1). Ovarian collision tumors in two cases consisted of surface epithelial tumor and sex cord-stromal tumor, and were mucinous cystadenoma and fibroma, respectively. Imaging findings included:all tumors in the 8 cases presented big or huge multiple complicated cystic mass with 9 to 26 cm in diameter. Germ cell tumor or sex cord-stromal tumor in collision tumor was smaller and located inside the tumor (n=3) and on the tumor wall (n=5). The boundary between two types of tumors in ovarian collision tumor was distinct and clear. Typical imaging features and densities (signals) of different tumors in ovarian collision tumors can be found on CT or MRI. Conclusions Ovarian collision tumors has some specific imaging and pathological characteristics. Imaging examination is helpful for most accurate diagnosis of ovarian collision tumors.

Objective:To observe the development of tolerance and dependence to endomorphin 1(EM 1) and its regulation on ? opioid receptor(MOR) in rat brain,providing references for the mechanism of the EM 1 dependence. Methods: Totally 60 SD rats were randomly divided into saline, acute EM 1 treatment and chronic EM 1 treatment groups. For acute EM 1 treatment, rats were injected intracerebroventricularly with 10 ?g/kg EM 1 30 min prior to sacrifice. The chronic group were treated with EM 1 daily administration at 8:00 and 15:00 starting with 10 ?g/kg on day 1 to 50 ?g/kg on day 9. After chronic EM 1 treatment on day 1, 3, 6 and 9, the antinociceptive AD 50 or catatonic ED 50 values were determined by modified Dixon's method. The B max and K d values of 3H DAMGO saturation binding to MOR were measured by Scatchard analysis. The gene expression of MOR was appraised by RT PCR. Results:(1) EM 1 chronic treatment produced a high degree of tolerance to the antinociceptic and catatonic effects on the 3rd day (3.1 fold and 1.9 fold) and the 9th day (28.4 fold and 8.5 fold). The jumping times, weight lost and withdrawal score of rats were significantly higher than that of the control group after 9 d chronic EM 1 treatment. (2) After 9 d of administration with EM 1, the specific binding capacity and mRNA expression of MOR in rat cortex, midbrain and striatum were all decreased compared with those of the control and acute treatment groups, but the K d values were not significantly altered. Conclusion:Endomorphin 1 has the tolerant and dependent potent. For long term chronic treatment, Endomorphin 1 induces downregulation of the binding capacity and mRNA of MOR, which may be related to the dependence development.

Objective To evaluate the safety of dynamic anterior plate fixation for cervical distractive flexion injuries and compare its rigidity between different types of plate design. Methods Twelve sets of cadaveric calf spine were used in this test. All the specimens were made into distractive flexion injury models (C4-C5) ac- cording to Allen's method. After discectomy and grafting, they were randomized into three groups in which Orion, Codman, and Window instrumentations were used respectively. The stiffness of each construct was tested in flexion, extension, lateral bending and axial torsion conditions sequentially. Results Compared with an intact cervical spine, the range of motion (ROM) of an injured cervical spine increased whatever plate was applied. Orion in- strumentation presented stiffness the closest to that of the normal control, except for less torsional stiffness. Codman instrumentation provided stiffness close to that for normal and Orion groups only in lateral bending. Window's was the weakest mad not enough in all kinds of movement. Conclusions Static anterior fixation is the first choice for cervical injuries. Dynamic plate fixation may sacrifice stiffness to some extent, especially when a shifting kind of design is to be chosen.

Objective To investigate the expressions of Livin protein and VEGF protein in bladder urothelial carcinoma(BUC) ,and theirs relationships with the clinicopathologic parameters of bladder urothelial carcinoma. Methods The expression of Livin and VEGF protein in 69 samples of BUC tissue and 10 samples of normal bladder epithelium tissue were detected by immunohistochemical SP method. Their relationships with clinicopathologic data were statistically analyzed. Results The positive expression rate of Livin and VEGF in BUC tissues were 65.2% (45/69) and 46.4% ( 32/69), but negative in normal bladder epithelium tissues, which showed significant differences in the comparison (Ps ＜ 0. 05 ). We found significant difference in the comparison of Livin positive rate between groups with or without recurrence ( 78. 8 % vs 48. 1%, χ2 = 6. 13, P ＜ 0. 05 ); but no differences in pathological grade,TNM stage and tumor number( Gl 55.6% ,G2 64. 3% ,G3 73.9% ;Ta ～ T1 61.9% ,T2 ～ T4 70. 4%; Single-tumor 59. 6%, multi-tumor 77.3%; χ2 = 1.52,0. 52,2.07, Ps ＞ 0. 05 ). For BUC,the expression of VEGF was correlated with the pathological grade,TNM stage( Gl 16. 7% ,G2 53.6% ,G3 60. 9%, χ2 = 8. 91; Ta ～ T1 33.3%, T2 ～ T4 66. 7%; χ2 = 7. 34; Ps ＜ 0. 05 ), but not the tumor number and recurrence( Single-tumor 57.4% , multi-tumor 59. 1%, χ2 = 0. 01; with recurrence 51.5% , without recurrence 40. 7% ,χ2= 0. 69; Ps ＞ 0. 05 ). We found no relationship between the expression of Livin and VEGF (r =0. 056,P ＞ 0. 05 ). Conclusion The overexpressions of Livin and VEGF protein may play an important role in the occurrence and development of BUC. Combind detection of these two protein can be used in the diagnosis and prognosis of BUC.

There are similarities between magnetotactic bacteria and Acidithiobacillus ferrooxidans (A. ferrooxidans) which isolated from Acid mine drainage(AMD). The weak magnetotaxis of some bioleaching bacteria isolated were found by microscope. A magnetophoresis apparatus was designed based on these weak magnetotaxis and be used to analysis the movement of these strains. The physiological properties of the anear magnetic field strain and removed magnetic field strain which isolated successfully by magnetophoresis apparatus have large difference. The nanometer magnetic particles was extract from the Acidithiobacillus ferrooxidans which purified by spread plate method from AMFS and its main elements are Fe and O by energy spectrum analysis. The results show that A. ferrooxidans have weak magnetotaxis and can be isolated by magnetophoresis. With the development of this new isolating method, the research of magnetotactic bacteria and bioleaching will get more benefit from it.

This study investigated the correlation between surfactant protein-A (SP-A) polymorphism and the susceptibility of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) in Xinjiang Uighurs. Genomic DNA was extracted from peripheral blood of 194 COPD smokers and 201 healthy smokers of Uighur who were hospitalized in or paid a visit to one of the four Xinjiang-based hospitals involved in the study, from March 2009 to December 2010. Single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) were studied at aa62 (CCA/CCG rs1136451) and aa219 (CGG/TGG, rs4253527) in SP-A. Genotypes were determined by using the TaqMan polymerase chain reaction (PCR). Our results showed that genotype frequencies were different between the COPD and normal smokers in aa62 (x (2)=6.852, P=0.033). There were also significant differences in allele genotype frequencies between the COPD and the control and allele G might decrease the risk COPD (x (2)=6.545, P=0.011; OR=0.663; 95% CI: 0.484-0.909). The result suggested that polymorphism of aa62 (CCA/CCG, rs1136451) of SP-A may be associated with the susceptibility to COPD in Xinjiang Uighurs.

Objective To study the molecular characters of porA and porB genes which encode outer membrane proteins (OMP), and predominated clonal complex of Neisseria meningitidis isolates from Guangdong province. Methods Eighteen Neisseria meningitidis isolates from Guangdong province during year 1967 to 2007 were recovered and reconfirmed by API NH biochemical system, and serogrouped by antiserum. The characters of porA and porB gene were analyzed by DNA sequencing. The allele profiles and the sequence types (ST) were determined by multilocus sequence typing (MLST). Based on their allelic profiles, the evolution relationship was analyzed by PHYLIP software. The predominant clonal complex was determined through comparing with the information of reference strains from the PubMLST database. Results For porA gene, type 20 was more frequently in the variable region (VR) 1 and type 9 in VR2 before year 2004. However, for porB gene, type 4 was more frequently in VR Ⅰ, type7 in VR Ⅳ, type 11 in VR Ⅴ,and type 10 in VR Ⅵ, respectively. The multi-types character was presented in VR Ⅴ and VR Ⅵ after2004. VR Ⅶ and VR Ⅷ can not be found among all the isolates except for one W135 isolate in 2007. Among the seven housekeeping genes, the polymorphism of abcZ was the lowest one with 4 allele numbers, while pgm was the highest one with 13 allele numbers. The predominant clonal complex was ST-5 before 2004. The ST-4821 clone complex appeared in 2004 and caused cases every year since then. More important, highly invasive ST-11 clonal complex firstly appeared in Guangdong in 2007. Conclusion The molecular characteristic of OMP genes presents polymorphism for the Neisseria meningitidis isolates from patients in Guangdong province during 1967 to 2007. ST-5 is the predominant clonal complex before 2004 and the highly invasive clonal complex is circulating in recent 3 years. It suggests that the surveillance based on laboratory should be further enhanced.
