Fibrosarcoma in newborns and infants, designated as congenital, infantile, or juvenile fibrosarcoma is an uncommon soft tissue neoplasm occurring most frequently during the first year of life. Infantile fibrosarcoma is associated with favorable clinical behavior that is markedly different from that of adult fibrosarcoma., We report a case of infantile fibrosarcoma occured in a 3-year-old boy presenting as a palpable mass in the left lower extremity since 3 months of life. Histologic findings of the tumor are similar to those of f ibrosarcomas in adult.

The amplification of c-myc oncogene was evaluated in 42 cases of ovarian carcinomas to correlate with clinical parameters. Using oligonucleotide primers, sequences from the c-myc exon-3 gene and from a control gene, tissue plasminogen activator (tPA), were amplified simultaneously by polymerase chain reaction (PCR). After the products of differential PCR (d-PCR) were electrophoresed, slot blot hybridization was performed, and hybridized with P32 dATP-labeled myc and tPA oligonucleotide probes and then autoradiographed. The signal intensities of the two products were quantitated by densitometry and the ratios of two products (c-myc/tPA) were measured. The ovarian carcinomas showed significantly increased amplification of c-myc oncogene Oligonucleoti compared to normal control group (p<0.05). 15 of 42 cases (35.7%) showed various degrees of the MYC gene amplification up to 27 folds in various histologic types of ovarian carcinomas. No significant differences of the MYC gene amplification according to histologic subtypes, tumor action) grades and clinical stages of ovarian carcinomas were present.

Journal of the Korean Pediatric Society 1993;36(2):232-238
Direct intraarterial measurement of blood pressure is an important diagnostic procedure in critical patients and premature baby care. Direct measurement was more accepted and confident method in physician than the indirect methods. But the presence of a significant amplification of systolic pressure in peripheral artery may lead to important error. So we have investigated the degree of the systolic pressure amplification from the ascending aorta to the femoral artery in children. Pressure waves recorded in the ascending aorta, aortic arch, diaphragmatic level of the descending aorta, common iliac artery, and femoral artery in 37 patients with congenital heart disease, aged 9 months to 21 years old (mean 7.16 yrs old) during diagnostic cardiac catheterization. The results were as follows 1) Amplification of the systolic pressure increased progressively from the ascending aorta to the femoral artery (16.7%) 2) Diastolic pressure decreased progressively from the ascending aorta to the femoral artery (6.5%) 3) Mean pressure decreased progressively from the ascending aorta to the femoral artery (1.5%) 4) Pulse pressure increased progressively from the ascending aorta to the femoral artery (42.8%) 5) There was significant drop (7%) of the systolic pressure of the ascending aorta compared with that of left ventricle. The results showed that the peripheral amplifications were limited to the systolic and pulse pressure, but the diastolic and mean pressure in peripheral arteries were lower than that of central artery.

6.Social Capital Trends and the Relationship between Social Capital and COVID-19–Related Behaviors & Perceptions
Health Policy and Management 2023;33(3):338-354
Background:
The influence of social capital on the spread of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) and related behaviors and perceptions has been recognized during the COVID-19 pandemic. This study aims to analyze the trends in social capital using primary data from the Korean Community Health Survey, which is the only available source in Korea for local-level social capital analysis. It also investigates the relationship between various variables, including social capital, as factors influencing COVID-19–related behaviors and perceptions.
Methods:
The study analyzed the temporal trends of social capital using raw data from four community health surveys conducted in 2017, 2019, 2020, and 2021. A multilevel analysis was conducted to examine the relationship between social capital and COVID-19– related behaviors and perceptions following the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020.
Results:
Social capital consists of trust, bonding social capital, and bridging social capital. Within the trust sub-factor, trust in neighbors (Trust-1) declined after the COVID-19 pandemic, whereas trust in safety and general environment (Trust-2) and trust in medical services and public transportation (Trust-3) increased. Additionally, the gap between municipalities narrowed. COVID-19– related behaviors and perceptions, such as adherence to COVID-19 prevention measures, return to normal activities, and fear of COVID-19, showed improvement in 2021 compared to the previous year. Individual-level trust in neighbors was associated with reduced fear of COVID-19, while community-level trust in neighbors was associated with increased fear of COVID-19.
Conclusion
Social capital plays a role in mitigating public health crises, and it is necessary to implement active policies that address the gap in social capital between metropolitan and rural areas. Strengthening risk communication regarding emerging infectious diseases such as COVID-19 is crucial.

Lymphomatous involvement of the heart, occurring at initial diagnosis and presentation, is extremely rare. We report here a case of 58 year old man who presented with generalized edema, pericardial effusion, and a large right atrial mass detected by transesophageal echocardiography. There is no other evidence of disseminated lymphoma in this patient. Tumor removal and pulmonary embolectomy was done. Pathologically, the mass was malignant lymphoma, diffuse large cell type. Unfortunately, we have no chance to perform the intensive chemotherapy. The patient discharged in moribund state.

Small cell cancer commonly occurs in the lungs, but it is rarely found in other organs. Small cell cancer that occurs in the pancreas is rare and its progress very rapid, and most patoents' tumor has already spread by metastasis when it is discovered. Although this cancer has a poor prognosis, we report here on treating case with combined curative resection and chemotherapy and showed a good prognosis.

Korean Journal of Dermatology 2000;38(4):568-570
Milia en plaque(MEP) is an unusual eruption characterized by multiple milia-like lesions within an erythematous edematous plaque in the retroauricular area. The histopathological findings are consistent with milia. We report a case of MEP occurring on the bilateral retroauricular area and occipital scalp. To our knowledge, a case which has developed on the scalp has not been reported previously. The absence of a known etiologic factor in contrast to the previously published causes suggests that the present case belongs to the group of primary milia.
